Sweding aficionados Brian Harley and Roque Rodriguez have created a shot-for-shot, low-budget homemade remake of the teaser trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which hits theaters on May 5. Watch the clip below.

For those who are not familiar with the term, sweding is the faithful, shortened remake of a film or trailer, which is usually done by fans who have lots of creativity and a very low budget. In sweded versions of films and trailers, most of the props are made out of cardboard, for example.
The term originates from the 2008 comedy “Be Kind Rewind,” starring Jack Black and Mos Def. They play two incompetent video-store clerks who mistakenly erase the footage from all of the tapes in the shop and then scramble to recreate all the...

Boy, do I have Christmas gift ideas for you! Volume 5 of the Suicide Squad reprints, Apokolips Now, goes on sale December 27 (okay, it just misses Christmas). The extended blu-ray for the movie goes on sale December 13. And Marvel is releasing the first of two volumes gathering my Heroes For Hire work on December 20. You’re right, we want all your monies.
Today I want to talk about H4H. It was a team book whose members included Iron Fist, Luke Cage, White Tiger, Black Knight, Ant-Man, Jim Hammond (a.k.a. the Original Human Torch) plus assorted guest stars rotating in and out such as Hulk, She-Hulk, Hercules and, eventually, Deadpool – who shows up in Volume 2 out in late January.
It’s not hard to understand why Marvel is re-issuing the stories in a Tpb. Luke Cage is on Netflix and Iron Fist soon will be, they’ll both then appear in The Defenders,...

This week we continue the rebirth of the DC Universe, and in doing so see the rebirth of the Bat Family, a monstrous villain, the return of an “ancient numbering system”, a recycled Aquaman, and the truth of a Goddess. Read on to see this week’s breakdown of some of the top books from DC Comics .

Action Comics #957
Story: Dan Jurgens Art: Patrick Zircher Colors: Tomeu Morey
Review: It was very strange just now writing that issue number. 957, wow! I don’t know if DC always planned to forego the new 52 numbering to bring this back, or even if New 52 somehow made it past its eventual demise that DC would have just returned to this numbering anyway. Regardless, here we are in the midst of a Rebirth for DC Comics and we get the “Rebirth” of some classic numbering (see Detective...

The Orchard has acquired the North American rights to “The Dinner,” starring Richard Gere, Chloe Sevigny, Laura Linney, Steve Coogan, Rebecca Hall and Adepero Oduye. It's not just Rory. These 42 Doctor Who characters have all, in their own way, died and been resurrected...
Spoilers! Lot of them, for Doctor Who of old and new lie ahead. Including the (publicised) return of a face or two to Doctor Who series 9.
Cheating death is a fundamental part of the make-up of Doctor Who. It's lasted for 52 years so far, whether on television or in spin-off media, and that's in no small part because of the original idea to recast the title character in 1966, thus creating the concept of regeneration.
But resurrection has also affected the characters around the Doctor and with a new series about to start, that looks to be as prominent as ever. Heck, series 9 even has a two-parter called The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived. Plus, we already know that apparently dead characters such as Missy, Osgood and River Song will...

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).
So here’s the 2013 Halloween Seasonal TV Preview,...

Welcome back for another installment from Brady Riann, Moviefone's teenage correspondent. You'll get reviews and insights into the world of film -- from a teenage perspective.
Comic-book movies have been around my whole life.
When I was about three years old, I watched the old Max Fleischer Superman cartoons. But I soon got bored of watching a drawing do all these amazing things; I wanted to see the real Superman face those challenges. And that was all I needed to say; my dad came back from work the next day with a copy of "Superman: The Movie." My eyes were fixated on the screen; I really believed that this man could fly, I really believed Superman existed. From there, I was introduced to a whole new group of heroes (Batman, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, etc.) and I was completely enthralled by the idea of average people who could do all these amazing things,...

Some of the biggest and most successful series of games come in the form of the open world genre. Assassin’s Creed III, Grand Theft Auto IV and more recently, Far Cry 3 are a handful of the top free roaming games. Some would think it unfathomable for a new IP to even attempt to squeeze into this field of iconic games. It’s almost as daring as introducing a new Fps in this day and age (and we know how those turn out). Despite the treacherous economic landscape for new IPs, Square Enix was bold enough to introduce Sleeping Dogs. This game consistently impresses with mission variety set amidst the vibrant landscape of Hong Kong.
United Front Games takes the established conventions of sandbox games and doesn’t introduce anything revolutionary, but does refine it into a very polished package. Sleeping Dogs takes relatively unfamiliar Hong Kong as its overworld...

Will the Criminal Minds realize they’re being watched? What will happen when Person of Interest digs Root back up? What could bring Karofsky back to Glee? Read on for answers to those questions plus teases from other shows.
Criminal Minds | The matter of this season’s big bad — a serial killer replicating the MOs of captured unsubs — will soon be revisited. And considering how collectively smart the Bau team is, don’t expect this stealthy stalker to go unnoticed for too much longer. “I think you’ll see that it gets put together pretty quickly,” Joe Mantegna tells me.

It’s no secret that United Front Games’ Sleeping Dogs travelled a bumpy road during its development process. What originally started as a brand new intellectual property became True Crime: Hong Kong before Activision decided to abandon its publishing duties altogether. After that, it wasn’t clear if the Hong Kong-based sandbox-action game would ever make it to store shelves, but it has, and we all have Square Enix to thank. The Japanese publisher believed in the project, and it certainly bet on a winner.
Presented within the game is a gritty, emotional and well-developed storyline that sees players take control of Wei Shen, a Hong Kong native who has returned to his old stomping grounds after moving to San Francisco with his mother and troubled sister. However, his return has nothing to do with rest and relaxation. After working as a police officer in the United States, Wei...

Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. ” I’d like to speak with you about the Avengers Initiative ”. Can it really be four years ago that Shield director Nicholas Fury ( Samuel L Jackson ) spoke those fateful words to a surprised Tony Stark ( Robert Downey, Jr. ) at the end ( the very tail end, after the final credits ) of Iron Man ? Marvel fans around the globe were ecstatic. The fabled comic book company was now in the film business ( other characters were licensed to other studios ) and Jon Favreau’s rollicking action hit was the first in their partnership with Paramount. With this bit of dialogue, were they announcing their intentions to team up some of their greatest heroes in one massive movie event? Fans were teased again later that Summer when Stark strode into the bar where General ” Thunderbolt ” Ross was drowning his sorrows at the end of The Incredible Hulk. Expectations rose two years later with Iron Man 2...

Crap. Crappity crappitry crap.
It’s New Year’s Day. If it was New Year’s Eve I could look backwards and wax philosophic about 2011. But here we are smack dab in the middle of New Year’s Day, Day 1 for the year 2012, so I really should be looking ahead and prognosticating about what the year will bring especially for comics and related media.
I’m a crappy prognosticator.
Years ago, I read a squib in a newspaper about how a Japanese cell phone company had worked out how to add a camera to their phone and I thought, “What a stupid idea. They’ll have these crappy little photos and how good could the lens be and so on. Who would want that?”
Well, everyone, as it turned out.
Before that, I read another little squib about how the Dean of St. Paul’s cathedral in London was going...

Some months back, I was asked by Danny Fingeroth to partner with him once more, stepping in during the final weeks of production on TwoMorrows’ The Stan Lee Universe. I proofread the book, doublechecked facts, filled in blanks, did some caption writing and told Danny and his co-editor Roy Thomas that it was a pretty solid tribute to a true innovator in the comics field.
The first copies came in from the printer while we were all attending New York Comic-Con and we were delighted with how good it turned out. Now, I received word this morning that the book is finally available for delivery. Since this seems to be my year with Stan, I wanted to bring this your attention. If you get it — or Stan Lee’s How Write Comics — let me know what you think.
Here’s the press release on the matter:

Amazingly, Rocksteady Studios – developer of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and the upcoming "Batman: Arkham City" – have shown no signs in slowing expansion of the "Arkham City" rogues gallery. So far, we know that Two-Face, Penguin, Joker, Hugo Strange, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and most recently Deadshot are all lined up to stop Bats on October 18. Now, the team have announced that none other than crazy Jervis Tetch, a.k.a Mad Hatter, is bringing his psychedelic freakiness into the game.
Featured in the latest edition of PlayStation Network's "Qore" downloadable program, "Arkham City" director Sefton Hill talked about what you can expect when you jump into this massive, crime-filled section of Gotham in just a couple weeks. As a video montage plays, we get our first glimpse of the previously unannounced Mad Hatter. He's surrounded by creepy henchmen wearing bunny masks and – well, that's about it.

Despite all being rated U, the original Star Wars trilogy features plenty of violent scenes – most of which involving the frequent dismemberment of hands or arms.
During the battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back, Luke’s hand is lopped off at the wrist by a well placed lightsabre swipe. It’s clearly a painful moment for Luke…...

Face front, True Believers! According to our calenders, officially the first day of Summer is June 21, but movie Summer really starts with the first weekend in May ( sorry Fast Five ) especially with the release of a big comic book superhero movie. For the last few years this has featured a hero from the fabled House of Ideas-Marvel. With 2008′s Iron Man the comic company has been producing their film properties through Marvel Studios ( along with Paramount ). After two Iron Man movie adventures the studio is now tackling another Marvel hero. While Tony Stark was thought of as a second tier character, this big guy has been one of their comic superstars since his introduction in 1962′s Journey Into Mystery number 83-the mighty Thor. The Norse god had primarily been adapted in animation. First in the ( very ) limited animation TV series The Marvel Superheroes by Gantry Lawrence in 1966. He later made...

So a guy walks into a diner holding a spine. That's not a joke. There’s no punchline. He drops it on the counter, bites the cooks nose off, and the whole world goes out of it’s fu%king mind. The streets are a maelstrom. It happened too fast for anyone to get a handle on it. It was too brutal & too unexpected. A plague that turns it’s infected into raging rapeaholic, mass-murderers washed over the world....

Parents killing their children, lovers raping... everyone around them. No explanation. Too late for one anyway. Everyone's dead, infected, hiding, or on the run. The infected are easy to spot with their obvious crossed-shaped facial rashes and self-mutilation. The nudity is usually a dead-giveaway as well. They are vicious & they are smart. Nothing like mindless, motionless zombies. They can think. They can hunt.

Tina Mabry's "Mississippi Damned," an independent American production, won the Gold Hugo as the best film in the 2009 Chicago International Film Festival, and added Gold Plaques for best supporting actress (Jossie Thacker) and best screenplay (Mabry). It tells the harrowing story of three black children growing up in rural Mississippi in circumstances of violence and addiction. The film's trailer and an interview with Mabry are linked at the bottom.

The win came over a crowed field of competitors from all over the world, many of them with much larger budgets. The other big winner at the Pump Room of the Ambassador East awards ceremony Saturday evening was by veteran master Marco Bellocchio of Italy, who won the Silver Hugo as best director for "Vincere," the story of Mussolini's younger brother. Giovanna Mezzogiorno and Filippo Timi won Silver Hugos as best actress and actor,...

I know, I know - why in the world would I choose Dreamcatcher and The Faculty as a face off feature? Because they’re two pretty damn entertaining modern invasion films - that’s why! There are so many differentials between these two films it’s ridiculous. I understand, and openly confess my knowledge. But in the end, both of these are invasion flicks, and both are truly enjoyable pieces by a pair of talented film makers.
Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatcher centers on a group of five life long friends, connected by not only kinship, but a series of magical powers unique to each character. At the center of this mystical gift lies Duddits (Andrew Robb as a child, Donnie Wahlberg as an adult) a mentally challenged child befriended by a young group of outcasts consisting of Henry (Mikey Holekamp as a child, Thomas Jane as an adult) Devlin, Beaver (Reece Thompson as a child,...
