Not much here but the scenery!!

Maybe the story line is supposed to be that every man wants a fantasy life away from his wife? Or maybe the cities are supposed to be 'characters' in the story like in "Crime and Punishment?" If so, the cities are not given enough time or development IMHO.

Unfortunately if it's just cheating on the wife, that story has been done over and over so many times it's boring from the start no matter HOW you slice it!! A loser who tries to have 2 women & fool both of them! People make POOR choices & expect us to feel sorry for them? NOT!! Even though Poland is a 'catholic' country, most Polish women I met were taking the pill. So why did his girlfriend get knocked up? Just careless or stupid--then go over the border & get her an abortion? Then he can carry on his fantasy life with both if that's his choice!

I only got the movie because Budapest & Krakow are my favorite cities in the world!! Butin the end, the cities & their beautiful scenery are about the only redeeming feature!! BOTH cities are places you should visit!

Took me out of my seat...

Warning: Spoilers
I accidentally bumped into this movie, scrolling over the channels on my TV. My first impression was that there is something happening "under cover" and as the story progressed for me became more and more obvious that there is a hidden meaning, and abstraction has to be implied to the understand the movie. The typology is simple yet could be pretty complex since a few romantic and bitter-sour life experience is necessary to decipher the message. The last few seconds were just chathartic for me, I thought my mind will burst as the last beautiful scene topped the story to the fullest drama. I highly recommend this movie to everybody.

a wonderful film with a great plot

The Last Blues is a fascinating story very similar to Woody Allen's Match Point. Set in Budapest and Poland, the story takes place in a 24 hour period and follows a married man (Andris) as he discovers that his mistress (Bea) is pregnant and has decided to marry her. The story takes a great turn as Andris is driving to his wedding in Poland. The film makes you uncomfortable in a good way that keeps you on the edge of your seat to the very end. The acting is great and as with many Hungarian films, the visuals are stunning. The music is also very good at lending a hand to the bizarre twists and turns of the plot. A must see film for anyone interested in love and It's tribulations.
