an impressive first effort
I am biased (cause I am a fan of Conor's work), but I did enjoy this first film. The concept alone wins me over. It dances along, and entertains - simple as that. Sorry that it was over so soon. I look forward to even bigger things in the future.

Typical student yawn.

After a friend of mine showed me this I was dismayed and bemused to learn that it had actually won a couple of awards! How? It's not the worst short film you'll see, nor is it the worst concept. It just boggles the mind as to why such a fuss was made about it....

Ignoring my ulterior motives, this was pretty good

OK, yes, I have ulterior motives. I am obsessed with Cillian Murphy. He is gorgeous, and if my book ever gets published and made into a movie, I'm drafting him to play my villain.

That being said...I loved this film. It was adorable, funny, and lovable. Death has a very cheery cell phone ring.

The other main guy (the one who wasn't Cillian Murphy) looks exactly like Stevie Ray Dallimore, even though I know he isn't. The two women were appreciatively annoying, but that kind of added to the movie's charm, in a way.

But seriously people. Who cares? It's Cillian Murphy! You have to admit, he's adorable when sitting on the therapist's couch, talking earnestly. I just want to kidnap him and hide him in my closet so I could pet him and hug him.

OK, I admit it, I have ulterior motives. But please...give this one a chance.

Warning: Spoilers
WARNING!! SPOILERS, SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a boring trip to the land of nod this proved to be. The film moved so slowly I thought the projector was stuck.

Cillian Murphy is an excellent actor but I can only presume he was caught on camera in flagrante with a donkey if he was going to agree to appear in this.

And as far all of that faux Chekhov dialogue ... yawn, yawn!!

Ugh! And I thought 'Pearl Harbor' was bad.

Oh, and he gets the girl.

Interesting Twist
devreser17 April 2005
If you have a great love of dark comedy, then you'll want to catch this short.

Cillian Murphy plays Death's son and helped bring back a man from the brink of death. This angers his father and Murphy is sent on a 24 hour mission to bring about the death of someone.

He has the person in mind, but it's one misstep after another.

It all comes down to the wire. The ending might surprise you.

The only reason I did not give this movie 10 stars (as Cillian Murphy is worth it by himself) is the girlfriend of the man Murphy is out to get. She's straight out of a Jane Austin novel (along with her friend) and has no place in this movie.

You can catch this movie at Atom Films.

An interesting short....

The film itself has it's problems. The side-plot with the two women is really hard to follow at first, but there are quite a few laughs and the rest of it is definitely worth staying around for 14 minutes.

The real draw for this film is Cillian Murphy. Though he doesn't say one word in it, he still manages to do an incredible job with the material. His face is so expressive that he doesn't *need* to speak. Everyone should watch it at least once, if only to see that yes, this boy *can* act. It's rather a shame that some of the obsessed fangirls and fanboys have put all the focus on his pretty eyes.

I recommend that everyone watch this at least once.

Amazing

Warning: Spoilers
I thought At Death's Door was hilarious in all its moments. The nagging wife, the disapproving dad, the silent teenager- all of whom are members of the death family. Some moments ARE kind of not understandable but come on! The hilarity of the moments are genius. Like, when Cillian Murphy (playing the sullen teen that's supposed to take over the family job) stands up in the middle of an interpretive dance to kill this one man who foiled another former attempt, his cell phone starts to ring loudly and he stumbles and trips out of the aisle, all the while wearing his black robe and carrying his reaper-thing *i don't know what it's called* Personally, I thought this was hilariously sarcastic and beautifully done.
