"Oh, yes, there will be (more) blood!"
It's difficult enough to scare audiences when a movie has an original plot and an unknown killer, but horror movie franchises somehow manage to keep moviegoers coming back for more of the same frights. The immortal killers in the Friday the 13th, Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street movies hold a place of prominence in movie history alongside Vulcans, Jedis and British secret agents because of their long-running franchises, while the George A. Romero-style zombies have become ubiquitous. All too often, horror sequels are cheap knock-offs of the original created solely to cash in; however, there are those rare sequels that manage to surpass their predecessors, often by expanding upon the original's mythology or by taking the franchise in another direction. Lock the doors, turn on all of the lights and help us rate the best horror movie sequels.

The last time we heard about Universal's future plans for The Wolfman, the report was that the studio is essentially planning to pretend the 2010 film by Joe Johnston (who stepped in at the last minute) never existed. A new film called Werewolf, written by Michael Tabb, is supposedly the angle Universal will take to further exploit the classic horror property. And now the film might have a director: Louis Morneau. It's possible that the name, reported by Moviehole [1], means nothing to you. I can't say it meant anything to me. That's because I haven't seen Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (his last film, from 2008) or The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting, or Bats, Soldier Boyz or Carnosaur 2. Ok, wait, I have seen Carnosaur 2, but can't tell you enough about the 1995 film to be of any use now. Morneau came out of the Roger Corman machine, and that doesn't...

It was recently reported that Universal Pictures was in development on a reboot of Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman" and has hired Michael Tabb (Ring Around the Rosie) to write the script for a stand-alone picture. Moviehole has now learned that the new movie, called "Werewolf," has hired Louis Morneau to direct. Morneau's previous credits include "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead," "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting" and "Bats." Judging by those credits, it's clear that the studio is not planning to release the film in theaters. Instead, it will go straight to DVD, like most of the other projects Morneau has been involved with.

So Universal Pictures doesn't want anything to do with a sequel for their ill-performing recent film of theirs called "The Wolfman," but instead they're moving ahead on "Werewolf." They just got their hands on Louis Morneau who is locked in to direct their upcoming horror picture. Morneau's previous directed works include "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead," "Bet Your Life" and "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting.""Werewolf" is anything but a sequel and is actually said to be sharing similar ties with the 1941 film "The Wolf Man." The script, penned by Michael Tabb, was originally written for a potential "Wolfman" sequel. Now that "The Wolfman" sequel isn't happening, the script is going through all sorts of rewrites. After dealing with the unfortunate disaster that was the 2009 "Wolfman" film, do you think that they should still be charging on ahead with yet another werewolf movie?Source: MovieHole.net...
