Hulk Hogan found some measure of success as a thespian at one point, but he got by entirely on his charisma and wrestling fame. And even his charisma didn’t get him very far.
If you’re like me (read: anyone who watched pro wrestling in the 80s, 90s, or even early 2000s), Hogan was the man. Larger than life. Yes, The Rock came along in the Attitude Era and became the biggest star around, but Hogan was still the legend. Remember Hogan vs. The Rock in Toronto at Wrestlemania X8? Hogan, playing the heel role, wound up being cheered by the crowd in the “Icon vs. Icon” match. The legend is recognized and loved all over the world… for his personality and accomplishments as a sports entertainer.
As an actor, however…
Where the Rock successfully managed the transition between the pro wrestling world and Hollywood, Hogan, making the jump decades before him,...

The 1998 to 2001 period in the WWF was a critical and commercial success, with nearly every show feeling like ‘must watch’ television. Then in spring of 2001 it felt like everything changed. Creatively the company started to dip, leading to commercial recession too. By 2002 the product was in freefall, Mania buy rates had been rising year on year since the mid 90′s, WrestleMania X8 was the first one in a long while not to top the previous year. Much loved characters and storylines were gone, attempts to introduce new stories and wrestlers being consistently misjudged. The once “popular”, “trendy”, “cool” wrestling fandom was now the reserve of “geeks” and “nerds”.
Just why did the WWF go from being the hottest pop culture subject of the late 90′s into being a ridiculed joke in the mid 2000′s? Why did they have a mainstream audience one year and only a niche fandom the next?...

It’s been rumored for months now and we reported about it a couple of weeks ago, but it appears to be official now that Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon will be the next inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2014. The announcement is expected on WWE Monday Night Raw from Brooklyn tonight, though the reveal has been confirmed early by the following newspaper advert;
A report from PWInsider suggests that the current plan is for members of The Kliq to induct Hall. That infamous group included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman (X-Pac). No word if all of them will present Hall or if it will be just one of them. If it was one of them, Nash appears to be the most likely since he two formed the Outsiders together. However, if all...

With the arrival of the WWE Network comes a vast library of wrestling programming. With so much content to choose from now is the perfect time to play some wrestling drinking games.
Drinking rules have become extremely popular when watching films or television programs and sporting events, especially amongst students, so it seems only natural to take a look at some fun special rules that can be applied when watching professional wrestling.
There are some generic rules that can be used for any period of wrestling or company such as drinking when a finisher is hit or when a referee misses some chicanery but this article will focus on more specific rules that can be applied for extra drinking fun. The list is in no particular order and more suggestions are encouraged in the comments section, some may even get featured in a future follow-up article.

When the WWE bought WCW in 2001, they were left with a large roster of superstars, so when the Invasion angle had finished, they decided to split said roster into two separate rosters after WrestleMania X8 in April 2002. Half of the roster would be drafted to the Raw brand, the other half going into the Smackdown brand.
There was initially only one world title, the WWE Undisputed Championship, but when this was made exclusive to Smackdown in September 2002 (becoming simply the WWE Championship), the Raw brand brought back the World Heavyweight Championship as their world title belt.
The following list refers to the worst WWE or World Heavyweight champions from this time until the two belts were again unified at the TLC pay-per-view in December 2013.
Having separate brands and world titles allowed some superstars, who might otherwise have had the opportunity,...

Hulk Hogan. Those two words mean just as much to professional wrestling as WrestleMania itself. Without Hulk Hogan there may never have been the first WrestleMania, pro wrestling may have never made the leap from the territories and into the global market, and millions upon millions of children in the eighties would have gone without their vitamins.
2014 will bring about the thirtieth annual WrestleMania and the stars have aligned so that the Hulkster, who has been in Tna for the past three years, is now a free agent just in time for what can be expected to be the biggest WrestleMania ever.
Here’s 10 things that the Hulkster could do at this year’s Grand-Daddy of them all…
10. Hulk Hogan vs John Cena

Last year's WWE video game was celebrated for its depiction of the Attitude era, which detailed the late 90s/early 2000 wrestling boom period that many are still quite fond of to this very day.
So, how will the upcoming "WWE 2K14" top last year's "WWE 2K13?" By celebrating the "Grandest Spectacle in all of (Sports) Entertainment", aka Wrestlemania. All 30 years of it.
Contained within the game will be the 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode, which seeks to recreate nearly three decades of WWE history with more than 45 matches. Only three have been revealed thus far: Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III, Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania X8, and John Cena vs. The Rock at WrestleMania Xxviii.
It is also claimed that "WWE 2K14" will have "the greatest roster in franchise history" and includes such luminaries as The Macho Man Randy Savage, Shawn Michaels,...

As seen this past Monday night on Raw, a brand new WWE Championship title belt was introduced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson following his victory over former champion Cm Punk at Elimination Chamber. While many were content with the reveal of the new title belt design, many were also unhappy and some were even hypocritical with them previously wanting a new belt and now wanting to revert it back to the “spinner” design. I, personally, was indifferent to it. However, I could not help but reminisce to past WWE championship designs and, as a result, I came up with the best five not only in today’s WWE, but in WWE’s history as a whole.
5. WWE Hardcore Championship
Our first title of the list comes in the form of the WWE Hardcore Championship, which existed from late 1998 until mid-2002. I am as surprised as you are with the title...

Wrestling is like Marmite. You either love it or you hate it. I fall firmly into the former camp, having grown up being aware of the old Saturday afternoon World of Sport wrestling with Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks back in the late 1970s before really falling hook, line and smackdown for it after accidentally discovering the WWF (as it was known then) at the start of the 1990s.
This was the era of Hulk Hogan, Randy 'Macho Man' Savage, Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake and the like, but it was also the beginning of the ascension of Vince McMahon's empire and the birth of the grappling epoch that would bring us the superstars that we revere today. Performers like The Undertaker, 'Heart Break Kid' Shawn Michaels, Bret 'Hit Man' Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock all started becoming household names around the same...

On a sweltering August night at Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City, two up-and-coming WWE superstars did battle in a hotly contested, hugely anticipated ladder match that would be talked about for years to come. Triple H and The Rock would go on to have multiple reigns as WWE Champions, and in the process, become some of the biggest superstars in WWE history. It wasn’t the WWE Title they were vying for at Summerslam ’98, but rather, the coveted Intercontinental Championship.
Fast forward to Wrestlemania 2000 in Anaheim, California. Three tag teams putting their bodies on the line in a main event caliber ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Three of those six men would go on to become World Champion.
The key to these particular match-ups (both of them being ladder matches notwithstanding) is that while the participants were competing for undercard championships,...
