Today’s film is the 2000 short The Island. The film is written and directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith, who also stars alongside Remi Rebillet-Nichols as the only two characters onscreen. Darcy-Smith has had an acting career that has spanned over 15 years, appearing in movies such as The Cave and Animal Kingdom, before moving behind the camera for his first feature film, Wish You Were Here, which made its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The film, which is co-written by Darcy-Smith and stars Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer, opens in wide release in American theatres this weekend.
