NEW DELHI -- This week sees the official release of two Indian films in Pakistan, thereby ending a ban that came into effect four decades ago during the 1965 India-Pakistan war, which saw both countries disallowing the official release of films from the other. Following Sunday's release in Pakistan of one of India's greatest epics, 1960's Mughal-e-Azam, with 12 prints, Tuesday sees the premiere of a contemporary production Taj Mahal -- An Eternal Love Story which will be released 28 April with 20 prints distributed by Karachi-based Eveready Pictures. The premiere in the city of Lahore (about 523 kilometres north of Delhi) will be attended by a delegation of leading figures from Indian cinema such as Taj Mahal director Akbar Khan and the film's upcoming stars including debutante actress Sonya Jehan (grand-daughter of one of Pakistan's most famous female singers Noorjehan) and Indian actor Zulfikar Syed.
