Joseph Kahn has stated in interviews that studios prevented him from creative control of the film. He wanted to make a "dumb movie for smart people".
The "Jet Turbine" Y2K bike that Cary Ford rides to catch Henry actually exists - one is owned by Jay Leno. It's an MTT Turbine SUPERBIKE, powered by a Rolls-Royce Allison 250 turboshaft engine commonly used in helicopters.
This movie makes fun of The Fast and the Furious franchise. In the opening a street sign spins , and says "Cars suck". Later on in the movie Ford says the line "I live my life a quarter mile at a time".That is the same line Dominic terretto says in the first The Fast and the Furious (2001) movie. To which Shane replies " That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard".
The semi-truck used in the 1971 movie "Duel" is seen in the beginning of the movie when the bikers are racing through the hills.

Jesse James: in the scene where Ford and Shane are talking inside the tent. Two of his custom choppers are used later in the movie as the bikes Henry James' drugs are stored in.
