Rebecca Ferguson is quickly becoming a titan of the entertainment industry and she’s embracing it. She’s starred in blockbuster franchises like “Mission Impossible” and “Dune,” runaway hits like the musical “The Greatest Showman,” and is now — along with her lead role on the show — taking on the position of executive producer on the Apple TV+ smash “Silo.” In a recent interview on the “Unwrapped” podcast, Ferguson shared how her declining the role of Juliette Nichols led to her being brought on to the larger production team.
“They’re asking for a big dedication here,” Ferguson said of being offered the part. “It’s asking for me to do four seasons of a show. I need to be yearning for this. And there were a couple of things that I wasn’t really loving. So I turned it down and then they came back and they were like, what...

Rebecca Ferguson decided to leave the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise because her character Ilsa Faust was becoming a "team player".The 40-year-old star's alter ego was killed off in 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' and she felt it was the right time to bow out as Ilsa's "unpredictable" element was being taken away.Rebecca told the UnWrapped podcast: "To speak very clearly – because I know a lot of people are sad about it, I'm sad about it – I had filmed three films. My deal was done. And I love her beyond words. Beyond words. I think she's the most awesome, fantastic character."Ilsa was becoming a team player. And we can all want different things, but for me, Ilsa was rogue. Ilsa was naughty. Ilsa was unpredictable. There was a lot of characters coming in, not leaving enough space for what she had been.

Jodie Sweetin is not pleased that her latest movie “Craft Me a Romance” will debut on Great American Family (Gaf), the network her former co-star Candace Cameron Bure works for.
After admitting she was “surprised” by the news, Sweetin added, “I am disappointed, but in keeping with my mission of supporting the LGBTQ+ family, any potential or future money made from this sale will be donated to LGBTQ+ organizations.”
Sweetin acknowledged that it can be difficult for actors to know where their work will or will not premiere, especially since that decision isn’t theirs to make. She added, “Sometimes, we, as actors, don’t have control over which network buys the projects we are in, nor are we a part of the process in which they get sold.”

Though many celebrities are starting to avoid extended time on social media these days — or even having a presence there altogether — “Reality” star Sydney Sweeney isn’t among them. That said, the actress does think social platforms “can be very damaging,” especially considering how people jump to conclusions.
“For me, people don’t have the full story, they see a picture and that is it. Or they see one quote and not the context behind a conversation that you have with somebody,” Sweeney said during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast. “And there’s so much that can just be misconstrued and spun for someone else’s agenda.”
She’s figuring out how to handle it though, on “a day-by-day basis.” She sees posts about her, certainly, but Sweeney notes that she also has to see them through a very specific lens.

From a pious Christian wife in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” to an insecure emotional teenager in “Euphoria,” to an outspoken daughter in “The White Lotus,” Sydney Sweeney has played all sorts of women. And, having had a hand in crafting just about all of them, the actress wants other young actresses to be able to have the same opportunity.
“I was a teenage girl. I’ve experienced many things that my characters may or may not have gone through, I have friends who have. So it’s just a more personal touch that I think young females can have with these stories,” Sweeney said during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast.
“And we have writers now that are writing incredible female-led stories,” she added. “It’s important to be able to have those females be empowered through it, as well.”

Robert Downey Jr. has already worked with Dr. Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But beyond their Marvel films, Downey couldn’t help feel a bit of jealousy towards the actor when watching him on another project.

Downey and Cumberbatch had more than the MCU in common. The two actors also portrayed different versions of iconic literary figure Sherlock Holmes. Downey played the character in 2009’s titular movie Sherlock Holmes and its sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. Cumberbatch would play the character in the BBC mini-series Sherlock for four seasons.
In a 2014 interview with Collider, Cumberbatch explained that he was able to share notes about Sherlock with Downey.
“I sat down on the sofa with Robert Downey, Jr. last night, and we had our first conversation and shared notes on playing Sherlock Holmes.

Haters gonna hate, and Olivia Cooke is just fine with that. In fact, according to the “House of the Dragon” actress, that’s part of the fun of her job.
“I don’t want to play characters that have to be liked universally,” Cooke said on a recent episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast. “That’s sort of like the beauty of what we do.”
In the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, Cooke plays the adult version Alicent Hightower, the wife of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and stepmother of Princess/former Bff Rhaenyra Targaryen. Cooke has earned a devoted fanbase for the character, but recognizes Alicent’s cunning demeanor and somewhat questionable decisions may also earn some critiques, and “that’s so fine.”

When “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” returns to Prime Video for season two, things will be looking up for Galadriel. According to series star Morfydd Clark, the elven warrior will be “finding joy” in the new season.
Obviously, Clark won’t say too much about season two, with so many possible spoilers to get into. But, during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast on Friday, Clark at least gave fans hope for the beloved character.
“She was having a sort of, kind of mental crisis last time and therefore quite kind of involved with herself,” Clark said. “And now she’s kind of thinking about the world and like, finding joy in things a bit more, despite the darkness. So that’s been really fun to play with. But also, again, doing lots of fun stunts and stuff, which has just been the joy of my life.

They say, “don’t meet your heroes.” And Morfydd Clark is taking that sentiment very seriously. In “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” Clark stars as Galadriel, who was originally played by Cate Blanchett in “The Lord of the Rings” movie franchise. And to this day, the actress admits she’s still terrified of actually meeting Blanchett.
Prior to season one, the Wales native was open about the fact that she did not want to speak with her predecessor before shooting the spin-off series in the hopes of making it her own. But even now that that missions has been accomplished, Clark continues to make an effort not to meet Blanchett, who she admires and describes as her “guiding light.”
“I kind of feel like [Cate] is kind of like a queen…I wouldn’t dare to approach,” Clark said during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast.

During this week’s episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, “Yellowjackets” star Christina Ricci opened up about the “abuse” and “childhood trauma” she faced growing up and how she continues to navigate her mental health as an adult.
The actress, who got her big break playing Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film “The Addams Family” said that mental health wasn’t a big topic back then. Ricci has said she suffered from anorexia as a teenager and was sexually assaulted as a child. “There was no discussion at that time about trauma, and about recovering from those things, about Ptsd,” she said. As a result, she ended up “acting out and coping in ways that weren’t good.”
Nowadays, the mother of two still finds it hard to find time to focus on her mental health. “I have a baby and an 8-year-old. So my days are really busy,” Ricci said.

Lisa Ann Walter may play a fictional second grade teacher on “Abbott Elementary,” but that doesn’t mean she’s not concerned about what’s happening in real world schools — especially those in Florida, where books are being banned all over the state on a regular basis.
Walter stars in ABC’s hit series as Melissa Schemmenti, a woman who is blunt but always has the best interest of her kids at heart. And, during a recent appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, she was just as blunt about the current hurdles teachers are facing in Florida.

“White Lotus” fans everywhere just about lost their minds when on-screen hotel managers Murray Bartlett and Sabrina Impacciatore met in real life earlier this year — including Impacciatore herself. But, according to the actress, her first interaction with Bartlett came when he slid into her DMs to praise her work on Season 2.
In Mike White’s anthology series, Bartlett played The White Lotus hotel manager in Season 1 and quickly lodged himself into the hearts of fans. For the Sicily-set Season 2, Impacciatore stepped into the role. During her appearance on WrapWomen‘s “UnWrapped,” Impacciatore admitted that she was exceedingly nervous to fill Bartlett’s shoes and didn’t sleep for five weeks during filming because of it.
“I was always thinking about [Bartlett]. How could I not make people regret [hiring me]?” she said. “It was Mission: Impossible. So he really was present in my life so much before meeting him.”

After more than 20 years in the acting business, Priyanka Chopra Jonas finally reached pay parity on her new Prime Video series “Citadel.” But she’s not entirely confident that would’ve happened if Amazon Studios wasn’t run by a woman.
The spy series stars Chopra Jonas opposite Richard Madden, in which the two play international spies. Madden, of course, is best known at this point for roles in massive franchises like “Game of Thrones” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, in past projects, Chopra Jonas says she “never even asked for parity, I just asked for maybe a little bit more, and sometimes you wouldn’t even get that.”
During an appearance on Friday’s episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast, the actress admitted that when her new agency team came to her and said they were going to ask that she receive parity with Madden on “Citadel,” she honestly laughed at the idea.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas can tell you there’s one key, for her, to being an action star: “I am so good at missing. Like, that’s my job in a fight.” As it turns out, it’s explicitly because she didn’t miss that she got injured on the set of “Citadel.”
The new series, streaming on Prime Video now, follows Chopra Jonas as Nadia Sinh, a spy working for a top secret organization called Citadel, alongside Richard Madden. Together, the two embark on massively high-stakes missions and, obviously, get thrown into dangerous situations.
In one such situation, according to Chopra Jonas, she’s set to take on five enemies. But before the day was out, she ended up taking a real blow to the face, which she later posted on Instagram.
Appearing on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast, Chopra Jonas explained that the battle scar came simply from a timing misfire.

It’s been more than 10 years since Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes informed us that “A Game of Shadows” wasn’t necessarily the end. And though it’s been a long road, his wife and fellow producer says that that remains true.
“Sherlock Holmes 3” was first announced back in 2018, with a planned release date of Christmas 2020. In March 2019, it was pushed back to 2021. But of course, it is indeed 2023 and the threequel still hasn’t seen much movement. As of this week, Dexter Fletcher, who was attached to direct the film, said it’s “not currently” in development, and that he doesn’t “know where [Downey Jr.’s] appetite for it is.”
Well, during an appearance on WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” this week, Team Downey producer — and Rdj’s wife — Susan Downey, alongside her producing partner Amanda Burrell, confirmed that the project is still very much in the foreground for everyone involved.

Celebrity couples are beloved amongst fans, but perhaps not as much as celebrity best friendships. And among those friendships, few are as revered as Lisa Ann Walter’s friendship with her “Parent Trap” co-star Elaine Hendrix — but that relationship doesn’t mean you’ll see Hendrix on “Abbott Elementary.”
Walter, of course, stars on the ABC comedy as Melissa Schemmenti, one of Abbott’s best, but a little bit terrifying, teachers. But, before there was “Abbott Elementary,” there was the 1998 version of “The Parent Trap,” in which Walter starred as Chessy, the live-in nanny and housekeeper for Hallie.
It was on that film that she met Elaine Hendrix, who starred as Meredith Blake, and the two became fast friends.

What’s the key to looking out for your own mental health while starring in a show largely driven by heavy topics? According to “Physical” star Rose Byrne, the answer is “hard drugs.”
Obviously, she’s totally joking on that one, but admittedly, she’s still trying to find a balance for herself. Her Apple TV+ series is about to enter its third season, and follows Sheila (Byrne), an aspiring aerobics icon who is dealing with both body dysmorphia and a severe eating disorder, as well as just trying to find her independence from her husband.
“It’s funny, when you have kids, it’s sort of hard – they have no patience for like, you needing to have a minute or whatever,” Byrne told “UnWrapped” with a laugh. “So in a way, work is almost an escape, because you could go to work and it’s quiet. You know, there...

When you’re an actor married in real life to an actress, it only seems natural that you’d cast yourself opposite your wife in a rom-com that you’ve co-written and are directing. But that’s not what Dave Franco did for “Somebody I Used to Know.” In fact, he wasn’t in it at all — but he had a good reason.
The movie, now streaming on Prime Video, tells the story of Ally (Alison Brie), a very stressed TV producer, who suddenly finds herself out of a job and running to the comforts of her hometown. While there, she runs into her first love Sean (Jay Ellis) and starts to question how her life turned out after leaving him, and the person she has since become.

Irony Point co-founders Daniel Powell and Alex Bach have specialized in producing hit comedy series such as “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Life With Beth” and “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson,” but their podcasting-focused sister company Radio Point lets them branch out into new genres and develop proof of concepts for future TV productions.
“Our first podcast was a scripted show called ‘Ellie and the Wave’ with Natalie Morales as the lead,” Bach told TheWrap for this week’s Office With a View. “We could see how it would translate to TV, but it was very much intended to be in audio and developed it for the medium. Since then, we’ve had a number of projects in development where we’re lining up both the podcast release and the TV plan.”

From “House Bunny” and “Hot Chick,” to “Just Friends” and the “Scary Movie” franchise, it seems that just about every project Anna Faris touches becomes a cult classic. And she’s very thankful for it – but it wasn’t always that way.
Speaking to “UnWrapped” hosts Emily Vogel and Andi Ortiz, Faris admitted that, while she always recognized how lucky she was to have landed the “Scary Movie” franchise on her first audition, there was some resentment of what it did for her career after the fact.
“I went through a whole lot of internal agitation with being associated with comedy, solely,” she said. “Like, I did not feel like comedy was ever my strong suit. And it felt confusing. Early on in Neil Labute’s “Out of the Blue,” a pair of James M. Cain novels get checked out by Diane Kruger’s cool, composed seductress at an elegant old library.
Unfortunately, the writer-director’s bid to evoke the murderous lust of hard-boiled staples “The Postman Always Rings Twice” and “Double Indemnity” is itself plenty checked out, a zipless exercise about as noirish as a commercial for household cleaning products.
Few careers are as mystifying in their longevity as Labute’s, whose empty misanthropy and gotcha dramatics across theater and movies were once the epitome of soured-soul indie cachet. His film career of late — whether directing his own screenplays or for-hire gigs — has been divorced from any meaningful expectations or promise or acclaim, but it’s still trudging along. “Out of the Blue,” which only ever feels tossed off, conjures the same head-scratching about its existence: If an adulterous...

“Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist dove right in Wednesday morning to discuss the vote in Kansas rejecting an amendment that would restrict abortion across the state.
In a landslide vote on the so-called “Value Them Both Amendment,” which would remove the right to abortion from the state’s constitution, the traditionally pro-life, right-leaning Kansas electorate drew a line in the sand. Scarborough noted that high-profile abortion cases like that of the 10-year-old rape victim and “the Texas Attorney General fighting for the right to let mothers die on the operating table” bolstered awareness that “this is the Republican party 2022” – and that many conservative voters don’t want to align themselves with it.
“Kansas voters, even people who are pro-life said, ‘No. We’re not going in that radical, freakish direction,'” Scarborough said.

Six seasons and a movie has long been the rallying cry for fans — and the cast — of “Community.” And, according to series star Alison Brie, there’s more movement than ever on that potential follow-up film.
“You know what, I’ll say it. There’s been movement,” Brie admits in an upcoming episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” podcast. “There’s been some talks. People are talking and certain things — wheels are turning. I said it!”
Brie’s comments come on the heels of her co-star Joel McHale, who gave fans a tease at the end of June. He played a bit coy on the matter, telling ComicBook.com that he was “more optimistic” than ever, and that “interest has returned,” but noted that there are lots of factors that need to go into making a film happen. But now, Brie is prepared to give fans a little more concrete hope.

If you ask actress Carly Pope what the scariest thing she’s done recently, her answers would include an improv audition, a Hallmark movie and the new sci-fi horror film “Demonic,” which opened in theaters August 20. While the idea of trying something for the first time can seem nerve-racking, Pope said her motto is: “Do it anyways and see what happens.”
The first-time horror actress told WrapWomen that while she “loved the idea of jumping into a new genre,” she was also anxious about what parts of herself would be unlocked. Especially when it’s a film about daughter who unleashes terrifying demons after entering the virtual mind of her serial killer mother. Luckily, director Neill Blomkamp created an environment on set that made Pope feel comfortable and confident in everything she did.

Three decades ago, execs at pioneering kids network Nickelodeon realized that wanted to do more than just air old comedy repeats (“Dennis the Menace”) and Canadian imports (“You Can’t Do That on Television”). But this was the early days of cable, and there were no budgets.

If you're a child of the '80s or '90s, you're probably very familiar with the green slime used on the popular Nickelodeon show Double Dare (If you're not, there are plenty of YouTube videos to add to your viewing queue). But until now, the slime's actual composition has probably remained a mystery to you. Former host Marc Summers, who has since hosted Food Network's Unwrapped for 10 years, opened up to Gourmet Live about what actually went into that green slime.
The base was vanilla pudding, applesauce, oatmeal, green food coloring, and by the third day, anything else that was on the obstacle course. Was it edible? For the first hour or so.
You mean the slime wasn't actually...slime? This is like finding out the Tooth Fairy isn't real. Our childhood selves -- side ponytail, t-shirt ring, tapered jeans and all -- feel a little used.
