When the Star Wars Battlefront franchise returned in 2015, now published by EA and powered by Dice and the Frostbite engine, fans hoped for a wonderful experience in the galaxy far, far away. Dice had made a name for themselves with the award-winning Battlefield series, and seemingly knew how to create amazing multiplayer matches that kept fans coming back again and again. Instead, Star Wars fans were met with a barebones, multiplayer-heavy shooter that captured the universe well, but quickly wore out its welcome due to few game modes, no story/campaign mode, limits on troop type, and a noticeable absence of classes. Now, EA and Dice have seemingly corrected that with Star Wars Battlefront II, and this past weekend, they held an open multiplayer beta, giving fans a taste of what’s to come when the game launches on November 17th.

It’s been about nine months since the Chicago Cubs were named the 2016 Major League Baseball World Series winners — and local hospitals are noticing a spike in births.
Just last week, Advocate Health Care in Illinois honored the arrival of the aptly named “World Series Babies” all born this summer.
“We calculated nine months after the World Series. We thought these little ones would be coming,” Mary Terry, the Women and Infants Service Line manager at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois, tells People. “We were waiting for them.”
She adds, “We’ve kept having more and more. It’s unbelievable!

The Resistance and Ratchet and Clank developers are at it again, and this time they seem to be diving under water.
The teaser asks "what's next?" and that is about all we get out of it, besides the under water theme. There seems to be a 2D art style to it too, but that could just be a perk of the teaser and not the game itself.
A full reveal is coming January 28th at 9:30 Am Est so we will have all the information for you right here on Cinelinx when that happens.
The last game Insomniac released was Sunset Overdrive for the Xbox One, which was recieved rather well. They also have a Ratchet and Clank reboot coming out for PS4 soon (April) that will release alongside a theatrical movie. The studio is also working on Rift (Vr) title called Edge Of Nowhere.

If the video game RPG genre was a human being, it’d be that kid who was a bit of an outsider in school; probably bullied and laughed at for playing with his imaginary friends, but never complained, kept doing their thing, and went on to be successful and appreciated by people later in life.
Yes, the genre that has its origins in niche tabletop games has become the dominant force of video games. Just look at the top games of 2015, a year in which you can easily argue that the five best games were all RPGs (The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Undertale, Bloodborne and Pillars of Eternity, by my reckoning). The genre has exploded, and sorcery and dragons are actually cool in today’s culture.
But the dominance of franchises like Elder Scrolls, Fallout and The Witcher means that there are tens of RPGs that missed out on the mainstream spotlight.

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is set to start on June 12 in Brazil, with the USA’s first match on June 16th against Ghana.
To celebrate the World Cup, Nike Football has released part three of its #riskeverything campaign in the form of an awesome film - The Last Game. It’s a five-minute animated feature starring some of the world’s greatest footballers on a mission to save football from the hands of a villainous mastermind, The Scientist.
The Scientist – a suave, smooth operating genius – has been analyzing the game for years. He is dismissive of the audacious risks that the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar Jr. take on the pitch. His research, which includes the claim that Ibrahimovic’s overhead kicks have a 76 percent chance of missing, leads him to create The Clones, automatons programmed to remove all risk-taking and focus only on efficiency, decision-making and results.

Nike may be looking to change that, though, with an imaginative animated short that spotlights the importance of human risk-taking and innovation in the sport. One of Nintendo’s most adorable characters is the star of another game and it’s in the third game of a beloved series, Yoshi’s New Island. Yoshi is back at it with Baby Mario and the mission is the same as before: Save Baby Luigi. The story starts with baby Mario and Luigi, like all babies, being delivered to their parents via stork. But the stork must have gotten the wrong address, because the lovely couple that came to the door wasn’t expecting any babies. In panic, the stork rushes to get this problem resolved. Then suddenly, Kamek and his gang attack and snag baby Luigi away whilst Mario falls to the island full of different color Yoshis. From there, the adventure begins. There’s no real explanation why and how Baby Luigi got kidnapped again or if it’s even following some sort of Yoshi’s Island canon,...

FIFA 14 is out a week today and gamers still hooked on recently-released Grand Theft Auto 5 are going to have something new to obsess over come next weekend.
Much is expected from EA’s upcoming football simulation title following the release of the demo recently to great fanfare as well as positive reviews in these early stages of pre-release.
And if FIFA 14 is as successful as its predecessor, 13, it is going to be a smash hit.
The last game went on to become the biggest videogame launch of 2012 with 7.4 million units sold four weeks after its release.
And we have a sneaky feeling the latest iteration in the long-running series is going to be similarly successful, and here are 9 reasons why.
9. The Soundtrack
The soundtrack of any game is important, particularly when you spend as much time scrolling through options menus and loading screens as you do in the FIFA series.

"Star Trek: The Video Game," a game based on the J.J. Abrams reboot of the Trek franchise, remains one of the most critically reviled games of the year so far.
Abrams was well aware of the reaction, in fact he took the blow personally and in recent interview even went so far as to say the disappointment over the game may have had a direct impact on the so-so critical reaction to "Star Trek Into Darkness". He tells Gamer Hub TV:
"The last game, which was obviously a big disappointment to me, was something that we were actually involved in at the very beginning and then we sort of realized it was not going in a place where we were going to get what we wanted, so we dropped out and they continued to do it despite... y'know.

One of the summer's hottest flicks, Star Trek Into Darkness, was the recipient of one of the year's worst tie in games.
And while crappy video game adaptations of motion pictures is not entirely a new thing, it was still pretty bad, and hit particularly close to home for the source material's director.
According to Polygon, citing a report from GamerHubVideos, Abrams and his associates were actively involved in the game, which simply goes by Star Trek:

Announced today by Bethesda was Wolfenstein: The New Order, a title that the developer has been teasing for a while now. The new instalment in the popular franchise will be set in the 1960′s and take place in an alternate universe “where the Nazi regime actually defeated the Allies and won World War II, the world has turned to ruins as the axis of evil has opted to build robot soldiers to aid them in their quest for world domination.” Unfortunately for those evil Nazis though, B.J. Blazkowicz, the series’ famous protagonist, is still alive and ready to kick some Nazi butt.
MachineGames, a Swedish studio, will be developing the title for Bethesda and in a recent press release, they told gamers that it’s an honor to be involved with the project.

Ratchet & Clank is to be given a movie, it has been revealed.
Developer Insomniac has released a teaser for the film, announcing it is bringing the gaming series to cinemas in 2015.
CG studios Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment will be behind the film, while Insomnaic will play a hands-on role with production, the screenplay, character development and animation consulting.
"One of the biggest questions we've gotten in the last few years is, 'When are you going to make a Ratchet & Clank movie?'" said senior community manager James Stevenson.
"The truth is, we've wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank's action, humour and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it'd translate perfectly to the big screen."
The last game in the series, Ratchet & Clank: QForce, was released on PS3 last year and will soon receive a Ps Vita version.

It’s been several years since gamers have had a true Contra sequel and I think it’s time to change that.
Perhaps using the term ‘reboot’ is something of a misnomer when it comes to Contra. In all actuality we really just need another sequel or iteration of this franchise. Csc Corporate Domains (a website registration service company commonly used by publishers who need to reserve a URL but wish to keep their unannounced games under the radar) registered the domain wolfenstein-spiel.com last week, presumably for Wolfenstein developer id Software’s parent company ZeniMax Media.
Interestingly, the new Wolfenstein domain was registered on the same day that Csc Corporate Domains registered the Legacy of Kain-related website. While the two domains share the same registration date (and registrar) that registration most likely belongs to Square Enix, as they are the IP holder for Legacy of Kain.
At any rate, we have not seen an official announcement for a new Nazi-themed first-person shooter from ZeniMax Media. The last game in the series, appropriately titled Wolfenstein, was c0-developed by id Software, Raven Software, Pi Studios, and Endrant Studios, and was released in 2009 with Activision handling publishing duties on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

I sound like a broken record when I say, "Texans got talent." But, it's true. We obviously talk a lot about filmmakers here at Slackerwood, but it's time to show some love to our local game developers. You (hopefully) already know that Texas is second only to California in number of developers and maintains a solid presence in the state dating back to the birth of the industry. In an article from last February, UK game magazine Edge hyperbolized that "it's impossible to overstate the impact Texas has had on videogames." (For a great overview of the local industry, read the full Edge article.)
This past year continued the reign of our interactive artists, bringing both critically acclaimed and financially successful games, ranging from atmospheric iPhone projects to big-budget Xbox games. And, as a Texan (if you're reading this, consider yourself honorary), it's your duty to support your local game developer.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma stated that the next game could totally reinvent Zelda as a character and even hinted that the game could take a more non-linear direction. It might be a few years away yet but that doesn’t mean we won’t be getting a new Zelda on the Wii U this year.

Sunday Night Football went out on an especially high note for NBC, with the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins earning football's biggest ratings for a primetime regular season game in 15 years. The game averaged 26.67 million viewers and a 18.3 overnight rating among households. The last game to pull in higher numbers was ABC's 1997 showdown between the Broncos and the 49ers. In the demo, early returns gave the game a whopping 9.0 rating among adults 18-49. With a 90-minute Football Night in America (4.2 adults rating), NBC averaged

Hello Dudes and Duddettes!
Thanks for liking and subscribing to the stupid humor of Get Tuitt! My latest video touches on my dismay for the Mass Effect Trilogy collection being released on November 6. I then go into my excitement for the Ouya. I haven’t seen any topics or interest in it, so I thought I would bring it up as a way to get those unfamiliar with it… familiar.
Here’s the link to my channel:
As of recording this video, a few more things have been announced that I’d like to mention. A gigantic announcement in terms of Mass Effect 3 comes in the form of more Dlc. Specifically, the Omega Dlc with take players to (you guessed it) Omega where they will aid a very prominent gangstress in retaking her space station. This was hinted at as a possible mission in the game, but nothing ever came of it,...

The Dead Or Alive series has been absent on gaming consoles for nearly 7 years. The last game of the main series was released during the early life of the Xbox 360. Since then, gamers haven’t had a chance to return to their favourite Doa fighters outside of Dead Or Alive: Dimensions (released on the Nintendo 3Ds).
The fighting game genre has been in a revitalised state since those early Xbox 360 days. From Super Street Fighter 4 to Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. From Mortal Kombat 9 to Persona 4 Arena. There have been a flurry of fighting games appearing over the past few years and most of them have been met with good praise.
Now, Dead Or Alive 5 is releasing on Sept. 25th in North America and Sept. 28th in Europe/UK on both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Team Ninja are looking to capitalise on the fighting genre resurgence by bringing back their own flagship fighting title.

If you’ve been dying to get your hands on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, you’ll get a little appetizer of what’s to come pretty soon. This week in fact. Tuesday, even.
IGN is reporting that a demo will be released on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this Tuesday, July 31. The demo will feature two full single player missions, a taste of the multiplayer and the impressive looking customization, allowing you to customize your own bots and take them online.
The game itself is scheduled for release on August 21, a week earlier than initially planned.
I’m quite looking forward to this one. The last game was awesome, and the demo at E3 proved that the game will have much of the same charm and tip of the hat to the original Transformers cartoons. Now if only I can get High Moon to work on a Beast Wars game.

There may be no player in pro baseball who is easier to root for than the R.A. Dickey. The Mets knuckleballer continued his amazing run of dominance last night at Citi Field, becoming the first pitcher since 1988 to pitch back-to-back one-hitters. Dickey has put together five straight starts (42 2/3 innings) in which he's allowed no earned runs and struck out at least eight - an Mlb record.
I was at Citi Field last night, got to saw Dickey baffle the Baltimore Orioles while striking out a career-high 13. It was a thing of beauty. After the game Dickey gave an on-field interview that was broadcast stadium-wide to adoring Mets fans, who are suddenly no-hitter crazed.
Dickey, 37, spoke with genuine humility, telling his fans that he can appreciate his success, because he's seen the other side of things. He didn't specify whether he was referring to the doldrums of baseball, or of life,...

Last week I was with a friend getting food before we went to play an RPG with a group who were just starting a game. We ended up deciding to go to Taco Bell. I expected tacos and an iced tea as big as my head from the experience because that’s pretty much why I go to Taco Bell. It’s never about atmosphere and usually directly related to how much money I have available to spend on food. Also? I really dig the Doritos Locos Taco. It’s kind of one of those things that’s sick and wrong in all the best ways. It should be repulsive and disgusting. Instead, it’s like junk food heaven.
So, I walked in figuring that I’d get my taco and my iced tea and go happily on my way none the worse for wear. Instead, I walked in and...

Ubisoft releases the first gameplay trailer for the September release, featuring the islands "resident 'pharmacist.'"
In case you didn't know, in that context, resident pharmacist means local pusher-man. And what gun-crazy, bullet-riddled hellhole doesn't need a nut with black market drugs keeping the other killers on the island of Far Cry 3 peppy?
Here's the official bio on this new character:
Dr. Alec Earnhardt basks in an artificial glow of life generated by the pills he takes daily. He hails from Oxford and went sailing around the world after a personal tragedy. This is how he discovered Rook Island and all of the wonderful chemicals growing in the local flora. He set up a lab on the island and now makes his living selling drugs on the black market.
Four years after the last Far Cry, Ubisoft is letting you do a little more open world shooting and surviving. The last game was,...

“Oh for crying out loud you gangly cretin, stop giving me things to find!” This is among the sentences you would have heard coming from my apartment during the last few days. The victim of my tirades: The Riddler. The source of my anguish: Arkham City.
As I sat there bleary eyed and hopped up on Dr Pepper at one in the morning, screaming at a character that clearly could not hear me, or at least had no interest in my torment, I had an epiphany. Perched just feet from my TV screen, close to full on spaz out, I reached the conclusion that some modern games are just too brilliant to merely play until campaign completion – gaming has become too demanding. You see, in the latter part of 2011, I was in the enviable position of having some extra DeNiros in my sky-rocket. Being a man-child in my late-20’s,...

New game gets release date and preorder schemes through various retailers. Also, "President Evil."
It's not enough that we get a demo for Revelations on the 3Ds, or that there's a trailer for the latest Paul W.S. Anderson-directed sequel in the film franchise, but now we have the release date for the Resident Evil 6, lacking only a comic or television announcement to make this a full media blitz.
The sequel will team of leads Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield against the never ending living biohazard menace in both the U.S. and China, ten years after the events of the first game. The last game saw perennial bad guy Albert Wesker taking a lava bath at its conclusion, so it's possible that the franchise may be getting a brand new heavy. It looks like the game is running on a beefed-up version of the engine from 5 which wasn't too...

Nintendo have pulled off one of the greatest celebrations in video game history, with 2011 marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Legend of Zelda.
With an Ocarina of Time remake for the 3Ds, a free downloadable game in the form of Four Swords for Nintendo’s current handhelds and having three symphonies within three countries, the last treat for fans is what could possibly be the last great game released for the Wii and just in time for the Christmas holidays: Skyward Sword.
With a colorful and great art style, brilliant orchestral pieces throughout, a good character-driven story and a majority of great gameplay and control mechanics, this is one of the best games available on the console and among my favorite games of 2011.
The storyline for every game within the franchise has always ended up with Link saving his homeland, rescuing Princess Zelda and defeating the main villain. It’s no different here,...

Talking to Cvg, Rocksteady's Marketing Game Manager Dax Ginn has commented on the chances that we'll see a third Batman game from the studio after the release of Arkham City later this month. The last game was a best-seller, and with the positive buzz surrounding the upcoming sequel, it seems inevitable that we'll get a third one eventually! Here's what he had to say. "Man. That's really tough. I mean I think as long as we're still enjoying it and as long as we feel we can contribute to the Batman universe... That's how it feels. There's some amazing stuff going on with Batman all around the world at the moment and we feel as though we're making our own little contribution in the form of the Arkham-verse. So as long as we've got stories to tell, so long as we feel we can do that and do that really well.

Chicago – “Red Faction Armageddon” is a stellar game for players who like their action explosive. The last game in this franchise, “Red Faction Guerilla,” was based more on open-ended gameplay with destruction being a key element. As the title suggests, things have gotten a bit more intense in the follow-up, which is a much more linear shooter but hasn’t lost the franchise’s defining characteristic — things that go boom.
Video Game Rating: 4.0/5.0
Fans of the last game may be initially thrown by this experience, which features a very clear path (you even have a Gps that guides you on it), well-defined objectives, and even a rather-limited variety of enemies. There are cultists and aliens and that’s about it. You have an increasingly-awesome selection of firepower (that you can cycle out regularly with weapons lockers peppered throughout the game) along with a powerful device called the Nano Forge, which serves multiple purposes.

There's a new "Mortal Kombat" on store shelves now, and the word is that it's pretty damn good. Between that and "Street Fighter 4" its been a good couple of years for fighting games. That said, the "Soulcalibur" series has been notably absent since 2008, when the fourth game in the series was released. Although it was great (and featured "Star Wars" characters!), "Soulcalibur" really peaked as a series with its third installment, "Soulcalibur 2." Can it recapture that former glory as "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat" did? It looks like we'll get our first glimpse of the possibilities sometime next month.
Daishi Odashima, the director of "Soulcalibur 4," has updated his Twitter feed with the following comment: "Hopefully I will be able to announce something mid May." Since Odashima is a member of Project Soul, it really doesn't get much clearer than that. Some kind of "Soulcalibur" reveal is coming soon, perhaps as...

Much will be written about how smartly designed Portal 2 is, and that’s not to be disputed. But what particularly stands out about the game is its nonstop humor. Portal 2 is the most hilarious form of entertainment I’ve encountered so far this year. There’s a delectably British sensibility to the jokes, even though developer Valve Corporation is based in the decidedly non-British city of Bellevue, Wash. For instance, one of my favorite gags is a sign that points to two nearby destinations: the Employee Daycare Center and Neurotoxin Production Center. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

"Mario Kart" may be the old chestnut for many gamers when it comes to vehicle-based battle modes, but the more mature-themed "Twisted Metal" series is not without its dark, explosion-riddled and occasionally disturbing charm. The newly released trailer for the PlayStation 3 follow-up -- called simply "Twisted Metal" -- that was first announced last year at E3 captures all of those things, and in the process it also delivers a release date for the long-awaited sequel from industry firebrand David Jaffe and his Eat Sleep Play development studio: October 4.
There's not a whole lot more to say about the game at this point. The new trailer -- the bits of gameplay it features, anyway -- looks a whole lot more impressive than what was shown at E3 last year. There's also a giant black marble in this one, which is immediately awesome for reasons that aren't entirely clear.
