On October 6th, 1927, the first "talking picture", or "talkie", is released with great fanfare in New York. "The Jazz Singer", an American feature-length musical with synchronized dialogue, will soon become a global phenomenon. Therefore, silent films are doomed and abandoned despite their original and universal expressive value and the reluctance of several important directors. In this documentary, French filmmakers of the classic silent era are discussing the transition point between silent movies and talkies, and how they have adapted to survive as artists.
