Those wilderness skills certainly came in handy! Ann Curry owes plenty of gratitude to Boy Scout Troop 368 out of Berkeley Heights, N.J. The brave boys came to the NBC journalist's aid on April 5 when they were on a Philmont training hike through Harriman State Park in New York. The Boy Scout's blog posted about the incident, and Curry tweeted the link. "If you break a leg on on a mountain, I hope Boy Scout Troop 368 finds you. Boy am I glad they found me," the [...]...

With blokes called Bugsy, wise guys, machine guns, fedoras and lines like "see ya toots", Mob City certainly didn't shy away from film noir cliché in its opening episode. In fact, it immerses itself so deep into the genre that it is occasionally guilty of losing its way in this opening episode.
Created by former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont and packing an impressive cast list (Jon Bernthal, Milo Ventimiglia, Neil McDonough), this cigarette-smoke laced gangster series has been on our radar since it first went into development under the name La Noir.
Based in 1940s Los Angeles, where a battle is raging between the gangs and the police, the story centres on Bernthal's detective Joe Teague. Occupying a hazy middle ground between the police and the criminals, the white caps and the grey caps, he's a fairly standard rugged TV anti-hero.

Noir drama Mob City dresses the part but does it deliver? Here's Michael's review...
This article contains spoilers.
Over half a century since its heyday film noir endures as a source of both earnest tribute and knowing parody. Perhaps the most convincing reason for this is its striking visual signature; the shadows, the menacing urban environment and the suit-hat-gun combination of its male principals. The strength of these images means that It’s very easy to produce an ‘idea’ of noir, a general impression of it that encompasses all of these elements while missing the central ingredient of moral uncertainty and outright cynical worldview that made it work as a narrative artform.
Unfortunately, Mob City, which has been given a rushed release in the pre-Christmas doldrums, offers quite a lot of the former but very little of the latter. It’s a beautiful looking...

TNT’s Mob City obviously wants to capitalize on the success of Frank Darabont‘s The Walking Dead, but you’d probably get a much clearer picture of where you’re headed if we instead called to mind that he’s also responsible for The Shawshank Redemption. Neither point on his CV is particularly helpful, except in the “he did something I liked” sense, but one is a closer approximation of the speed and style you’ll be met with.
Of course, “The mob show by the guy who brought you that zombie show,” probably makes it clear that we’ve switched gears, and I suppose the latest hot thing is more marketable than one of the best films ever… if you know what demographic you’re after.
Mob City lets us off the hook immediately, at least if we weren’t sure where exactly it might have been going.

Jim Steranko, one of the creators of the Nick Fury character, recaps Agents of Shield for THR's Heat Vision every week. Read more about the Marvel Comics artist in a Q&A here. Bad timing! Wouldn't it have been appropriate -- with its creepy campfire-tale approach -- for the intro of this week's Shield episode to have run on Halloween? The Boy Scout bit definitely had a strong Spielbergian flavor, but, to be candid, considering the worldwide scope of the former anti-espionage organization, one must pause to wonder if a villain or his counterpart is more irresistibly frightening when menacing a

The new DC superhero blockbuster may pit the Dark Knight vs The Boy Scout but there is no doubt there will be at least one villain in the mix. Someone with the power to force their hand to combine their efforts. A truly epic physical and mental match will be needed in order to be a believable threat to these two incredible pop culture icons. With the immense destruction of the final battle scene of Man of Steel, it is clear that DC is going for entertainment and scale rather than Nolan’s true-to-life treatment of Batman.
That opens the door for an impossibly powerful Batman from the comics, an ordinary man that has taken down the most powerful being on Earth on more than one occasion. Man of Steel also stressed the fact that Earth is not alone in their new universe, making the chances of intergalactic villain all that more likely.

Halloween is long gone, so why do we have goosebumps? Maybe it’s because we now know the basic plot of NBC’s True Blood-meets-Modern Family reboot of The Munsters.
Basically, the clan starts over in a new town after 10-year-old Eddie learns that his relatives are all monsters. Of course, that he himself is a werepup remains a secret… for now!
Then again, we could also just be all a-tingle because, with Bryan Fuller writing the pilot and Bryan Singer directing, it almost has to be good. On second thought, that’s not it, either.
