As long rumored, “Game of Thrones” will end after Season 8, but that doesn’t mean the franchise is over.
HBO programming president Casey Bloys, in his first meeting with reporters since taking over the top job earlier this year, said he was open to the idea of spin-offs… but nothing was concrete yet.
“It’s something I’m not opposed to. [But] it has to make sense creatively… I’m open to it,” Bloys said.
For now, showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff are focused on Season 7 production and don’t have time to kick around spin-off ideas.

As previously announced, HBO will air seven episodes of “Game of Thrones” next season, but no episodic count is confirmed yet for the final season. “We’ll take as many as they want to give us,” Bloys said.

The squints of Bones must be feeling pretty good right now that contract negotiations between them and 20th Century Fox TV have come to end and everyone received a nice little pay bump. Michaela Conlin (Angela), T.J. Thyne (Hodgins), Tamara Taylor (Dr. Saroyan) and John Francis Daley (Sweets) all signed on for an eighth season should the series be renewed (and renewal is expected).
The four castmembers were making $30,000 to $40,000 per episode, and while it’s not specifically known what they’ll be making now, a source told The Hollywood Reporter the number is in the mid-five figures. The deal is retroactive, meaning it takes effect for the current season as well as future seasons.
