The third and final featurette on the SCARFACE Special Edition features interviews with Martin Bregman, Al Pacino, Brian DePalma, Oliver Stone, Steven Bauer and cinematographer John Alonzo. This segment pretty much covering everything outside of the pre-production and the acting. We go over how the film was originally meant to be shot in Miami but all the threats towards them forced them to film in California. DePalma talks about the violence in the movie and why he wanted to show people how graphic it was so that they could feel uneasy. Bregman and DePalma also have to discuss the "X" rating that the film got three times before they finally cut everything in order to get an R. From here we learn about the original response to the film and how it wasn't a major hit with critics. Overall this is a pretty good document of how the film eventually fell into place and of course some of the best moments deal with the director having to battle the MPAA. Bauer talks about how at the premier of the movie Martin Scorsese turned to him and said that people are going to love and hate the picture. Pacino talks about this being one of his favorite pictures and especially since DePalma got to put his vision on the screen.

This short "making of" feature left most of my questions unanswered.

Like, "Sure, Michell Pfeiffer is hot, but who told her she could act?" And, "Who said, 'Hey Al, just pull an accent out of your ass, no-one will care?'" And, "Why hire a bunch of Italians to play a bunch of Cubans?" And so on.

The bits talking about De Palma's brilliance are pretty funny, though.
