MEXICO CITY -- Organizers of Mexico's Morelia International Film Festival said Thursday that 17 documentaries and 41 shorts will compete at the showcase's third edition from Oct. 8-16. Morelia has rapidly become one of the nation's most prestigious film fests, thanks to the backing of leading Mexican exhibitor Cinepolis. This year, the festival opens two new sections: Films Without Borders and Children's Shorts. Chris Eyre's A Thousand Roads and James Scurlock's Parents of the Year are among more than 80 pictures to unspool in Morelia's official sections. The annual festival focuses primarily on documentaries and shorts.
