Inna Korobkina played the pregnant woman Luda in director Zack Snyder’s 2004 remake of the George A. Romero classic Dawn of the Dead (watch the Snyder version Here) – the character who gave birth to a zombie baby in one of the most popular and disturbing scenes in the film. Nineteen years later, Korobkina has launched a podcast called Rise Up & Fix It, which she hosts with her producing partner Ingrid J. Monday.
Korobkina is described as being “a granola eating, tree hugging mom of two”, while Rise Up & Fix It is said to center on “spirituality, creativity, and female empowerment.” Listeners are invited to join Korobkina and Monday as they “delve into the power of female creativity and modern feminism.”
The first episode of the weekly podcast was released on June 30th. Season 1 of the show is now available on all platforms and features the hosts “sharing stories and lessons from their own creative journeys,...

While Anjelica Huston is the daughter of iconic, award-winning film director John Huston, she’s become a legend herself over several decades as a fashion model, actor, and director. Huston’s enjoyed a highly successful career racking up many awards including an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and several Emmy nominations. Still working today, she is regarded as one of the finest actors of her generation. And that’s in part why she chose not to become a mom.
Anjelica Huston is an award-winning actor
Huston started out as a model, working for some of fashion’s biggest names in the 1970s. It wasn’t long until she realized that what she really wanted to do was become an actor. She began taking acting classes in Los Angeles.
In 1985, she had her first breakout role in the film Prizzi’s Honor, a film directed by her father. She won an Academy Award...

One of the most accurate parts of Broad City‘s depiction of 20something life in New York is the awkward roommate. (We’ve all encountered them — or maybe we are the awkward roommate.) Technically, Abbi’s roommate is a pretty girl who likes to volunteer in Haiti and vacation with her family, and is never, ever there. Instead, Abbi is tormented by her roommate’s ever-present boyfriend, Bevers, who violates basically every social code. As Bevers, John Gemberling brings sloth-like behavior to a new level, disregarding any concept of boundaries. Thanks to him, we now understand that couch sores are a thing, and will think twice before settling in for our next Netflix binge. (Or at least do it with pants on.) We chatted with the Ucb alum about his role on Broad City and the NBC sitcom Marry Me, and brainstormed some potential Lifetime movie pitches (should anyone from...

I’ll never look at a bucket of ribs the same way again.
I’ve been a steadfast reader of Television Without Pity since I lit upon Tracie “Potes” Potochnik’s America’s Next Top Model recaps back in 2004. In snarky TWoP style, Potes regularly engaged in a gentle mockery of host-mogul-mentor Tyra Banks about everything from her Kool-Aid weave to her love of barbecue-slathered pork. From the first lines of those recaps, it felt like I’d found the website equivalent of my very soul (and what a trash-tv-filled, highbrow-educated soul it is). And so, like Tyra Banks and those ribs,...

Lifetime’s TV-movie remake of the beloved 1989 film Steel Magnolias had the same unnecessary-bordering-on-sacrilegious quality as ABC’s 1998 remake of Rear Window starring Christopher Reeve. Did I enjoy it? Yes, sometimes I did. That said, I watch Smash. I can quote things that Honey Boo Boo’s mother has said. Five years ago, I voluntarily attended an abysmal elementary school production of Pippin – having no connection to anybody in its cast — and laughed more than I winced. I’ve seen Riding the Bus With my Sister five times, and I’ve never seen Lawrence of Arabia. I suppose my point is that, when it comes to taste, I am an unreliable narrator. But even though it was campy garbage, the Magnolias remake sadly added up to no more than the sum of its parts, which were treacly cogs clumsily manipulated into the length of a TV movie with all of...
