Sex & Nudity

  • Sexual references
  • An old male patient is seen showing his naked butt from the opening of a hospital gown.
  • A man's neighbor comes by his apartment a few times and flirts with him, attempting to seduce him. She goes into the other room, a bejeweled thong is seen as she sways down hallway and proceeds takes off her clothes (offscreen), which can be seen thrown into the hallway. She then emerges from the room in just a towel, which she drops, implying complete nudity. Only her bare back can be seen.
  • A woman is implied to have French-kissed her ex-boyfriend on her wedding day. Another man in the movie tries to blackmail her later with that information, threatening to tell everyone about it if she doesn't do what he wants.
  • A man and woman lay together in bed, fully clothed.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is punching another man. It's shown that he bleeds from his mouth as a consequence.
  • A man saves the life of a man who has collapsed in a restaurant. He uses a knife to make a small hole in the bottom part of his lung so he can breathe. There is a very minimal amount of blood shown.
  • An emotionally unstable young woman threatens a man with a knife, and she chases him out of the house with it. This is intended to be humorous, however, and no damage is done. The man is startled to the point where he trips and falls over a table, but he is not hurt.

Profanity

  • 4 uses of "ass," 1 use of "asshole," 12 uses of "my God," 1 use of "good God," 1 use of "Jesus," 4 uses of "oh God," 6 uses of "God," 6 uses of "hell," 1 use of "damn," 2 uses of "shit," 3 uses of "sex" and derivatives, 4 uses of milder terms including "boobs," "whore," and "slut (2)."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man is seeing drinking a couple of bears in both bottles and can boxes during the movie.
  • Some mild smoking.
  • A man in duress goes to a bar and gets pretty drunk, but his behavior is not over-the-top erratic.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A guy gets upset with another guy and hits him in the face, then runs off.
  • A man discusses the details of how his wife died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
  • A woman gets into a car accident at the beginning of the movie. There is absolutely no blood or gore shown, and we don't even see the actual accident - we just hear a crash, and then the scene fades out.
  • A few men attempt to remove an unresponsive patient's body from a hospital. The scene isn't necessarily frightening, but it can get pretty tense and suspenseful.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man is talking about how he lost his wife due to cerebral hemorrhage. The man is crying and the scene is very emotionally. It can be hard to understand for minors at a young age.
  • The film centers around a young woman who has been in a bad car accident and has been in a coma for months. Her body is shown in a hospital bed. She has tubes sticking out of her, but the body itself is perfect - no scrapes, bumps, bruises, or anything.
  • When Elizabeth wakes up from her coma, she does not remember David and even appears a little afraid of him. Again, this isn't really scary, but it can be emotional.
