Belgrade in the 1970s: young Jelena, the daughter of a high-ranking party official and a prominent member of society, her boyfriend young, but poor Vuk decide to flee the city on her eighteenth birthday. Someone, however, found out about their plan and decided to break them up. Jelena drinks the spiked champagne and falls asleep in champagne while locked in her room. At the same time, her father Vladimir has been shot. Vuk hears the gun shot and tries to help Vladimir. The party people, who walked in the room and saw Vuk next to Vladimir's body. Everybody is convinced that Vuk killed Vladimir. Vuk escapes and leaves the country. After three decades, seeking justice, Vuk returns to Belgrade with his daughter Helen.

As Vuk Despotovic, the owner of Stigma corp. enters the party, many are left in a state of shock. Especially Jelena, who's overwhelmed. Ratko gets angry and orders Jelena to leave the party at once. Vuk's daughter Helen and Jelena's son Sasa meet. She confuses him for a parking valet, and the sparks fly. The obvious attraction is evident. Ratko warns Jelena to stay away from Vuk and reminds her that Vuk shot her father in cold blood. Ratko orders his lawyer Momir to return the money to Vuk and to get the offices back previously sold to Vuk and wants him to investigate every detail on him. Sasa's editor persuades him to do the story on Vuk Despotovic. Momir calls out Vuk's assistant Tatjana for knowing the truth about Ratko's and Vuk's past. Vuk visits his old friend Petar. Vuk sends flowers to Jelena and asks her and Ratko to join him for dinner. Ratko is livid.

Jelena manages to stop Ratko to go and to shoot Vuk, but she's forced to reveal to her son Sasa how she knows Vuk. Petar and Vuk are catching up on lost times. Sasa is not happy that Vuk is trying to persuade Jelena and is telling his mother that he's investigating him for the article and his fortune might be questionable. After Sasa's accusations, Mira comforts Jelena. Ratko and Sasa make a pact against Vuk. Tatjana warns Vuk that Helen might find out what's the real reason for their return. Ratko is in need of the money, but refuses to sell anything to Vuk anymore, Momir tries to reason with him and he inform him that Vuk wants to buy Jelena's family home. Sinister Ratko decides to play Vuk's game and accepts the dinner invitation against Jelena's better judgemet. Sasa talks to Mira about his love life and tells her about the girl he met at the party. Helen meets with Dragana Vujcin about the piece for the magazine, but she decides to send Sasa to cover the piece. Sasa confides in Dragana that Vuk is probably guilty of killing his grandfather and he has personal reasons in covering the story. Sasa and Helen meet again.

At the dinner party the atmosphere is tense. Vuk offers to buy Jelena's home, but she declines, ultimately Vuk proposes Ratko a business partnership. Helen and Sasa get to know each other. Momir visits his ex-convict cousin Gvozden and asks him to work for him to help him get rid of Vuk when the time comes. Gvozden tells him not to let him down again, as he can forget they are related. Vuk scolds Tatjana for making the impression they were an item. Petar and Vuk have heart to heart and Petar confesses to Vuk that he was also in love with Jelena. Jelena warns Ratko about dealings with Vuk, but Ratko is intrigued. Sasa saves Jelena from Ratko's anger. Helen tells her father that she fell in love. Tatjana seeks Petar for advice, while Jelena cries her heart out to Mira. Sasa pays Vuk a visit.
