The 51st Daytime Emmys brought fashion and wins to the stage.
CBS hosted the event, allowing it to be televised live for viewers to revel in what their favorite soap stars were wearing and what they were doing.
The nominations this year were all over the board, and while we had our predictions, we weren’t sure who would actually take home the coveted awards.
In a year affected by writers’ strikes, scribes wrote some of the material the actors worked with and did a good job making it their own.
While there are varying opinions about who won each category, only one can take home the statue.
Here’s which soaps won each category tailored to the genre.
Who won a Daytime Emmy?
Some categories didn’t offer an actor or actress for a particular soap. But without further do, here is a list of winners in the soap-centric categories.

California is making it rain for Quentin Tarantino as the acclaimed director prepares to set up shop for his final film, The Movie Critic, in the Golden State. The state granted $20,213,000 in California tax credits for Tarantino’s next feature. The hotly-anticipated film is one of 16 films conditionally approved for $7.8 million in tax incentives by the California Film Commission. Casting rumors for the film are currently making the rounds, creating an air of mystery around the legendary director’s next effort.
“I love shooting in California,” Tarantino said on Friday.
“I started directing movies here and it is only fitting that I shoot my final motion picture in the cinema capital of the world,” Tarantino said about rolling cameras in the state that helped launch his storied career. “There is nothing like shooting in my hometown; the crews are the best I’ve ever worked with, and the locations are amazing.

Quentin Tarantino is preparing to make his final film. The title is The Movie Critic, and we’ve previously heard that it’s “set in late 1970s Los Angeles with a female lead at its center.” When that information was revealed, it stirred up speculation that the title character might be inspired by Pauline Kael, a highly respected critic that Tarantino is known to be a fan of. But in a new interview with Baz Bamigboye for Deadline, Tarantino revealed that Kael is not the inspiration for The Movie Critic. Instead, it’s inspired by the life of an unspecified man who wrote reviews for “a porno rag”!
Tarantino told Bamigboye that The Movie Critic is set in 1977 California and “is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.” Tarantino became aware of these reviews...

In an infinite sea of remakes and remasters, the latest re-release for the Nintendo Switch, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, doesn’t even qualify. It’s essentially a port, albeit with some added content, akin to the console’s best-selling Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Super Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Like those titles, Return to Dream Land acts as a second chance for a somewhat overlooked game to hit the gaming zeitgeist thanks to the colossal success of Nintendo’s hybrid handheld. Unlike those games, Kirby didn’t really need it.

Stella Stevens, who starred with Elvis Presley in “Girls! Girls! Girls!” and with Jerry Lewis in “The Nutty Professor” as well as in disaster film “The Poseidon Adventure,” died Friday in Los Angeles. Her son, Andrew Stevens, said she had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 84.
“Girls! Girls! Girls!” (1962) was one of the more generic Elvis films— there wasn’t all that much for Stevens to do — but Variety was keen on her performance in 1963’s “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” starring Glenn Ford and Shirley Jones in the story of a widower who’s romantically interested in one woman while his son wants him to marry another: “Stella Stevens comes on like gangbusters in her enactment of a brainy but inhibited doll from Montana. It’s a sizzling comedy performance of a kook.”

Do you like your sitcoms lighthearted with a hint of mystery? Do you think Jake Peralta is an amazing "detective slash genius"? Do you often restrain yourself from blurting out "title of your sex tape" when someone says something that sounds unintentionally inappropriate? Then you're probably a fan of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," the cop comedy starring Andy Samberg.
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" debuted on Fox in 2013, one year after Samberg's exit from "Saturday Night Live." His "Nine-Nine" character, Jake Peralta, is a detective with the NYPD. As with many Samberg roles, Peralta is an endearing goofball, an adult who faces the challenge of growing up without letting go of the boisterous joy that some mistake for immaturity.
After five seasons, Fox unceremoniously canceled "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" in 2018. However, NBC picked it up a day later, ultimately airing the show for three more seasons. There are 153 episodes, and every fan has their favorite. From the...

"Saturday Night Live" will return to NBC for its 48th season starting on October 1, 2022. There's been a lot of activity behind the scenes with the loss of eight total cast members. The end of season 47 saw the exit of Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, and Pete Davidson. More recently, series regulars Alex Moffatt and Melissa Villaseñor left the series along with featured player Aristotle Athari. Finally, this week brought news that "Popstar" co-star Chris Redd was leaving after five seasons on the series.
But the show must go on, and along with four new featured players joining the series, "SNL" has officially announced who will be hosting the first three episodes out of the gate for season 48. There's a "Top Gun: Maverick" star, a "Harry Potter" franchise co-star, and one of the biggest hip hop stars in the world.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story gets its subject in a way very few biopics ever have—by not really being a biopic at all. Rather, Weird approaches the life of song parody legend, Uhf star, and self-proclaimed “world’s most famous accordion player in an extremely specific genre of music” just as Yankovic himself approaches his music: keeping the music and changing the words. Or, in this case, keeping the tropes and exaggerating them to wildly comedic effect.
It’s a style that works, mostly. Weird aims for the transcendent comedy of Popstar and Walk Hard but never quite succeeds to that degree; thus it qualifies as a modest disappointment. Undeniably funny, very well-acted, and wise in its tonal focus, Weird plays as entertainment that could have been much, much more. There is still much to admire and enjoy, not the least of which is a genuinely triumphant, note-perfect performance from Daniel Radcliffe.

A parody of rock biopics that celebrates its subject by completely trashing the facts of his life and career, Eric Appel’s Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is relentlessly silly, wholesome at heart and so stuffed with cameos it might give you the idea that a couple of generations of cool people love this guy.
Co-written by the artist (who also costars as a fickle record exec), it’s a kindred spirit to his songs without being so gag-hungry it forgets how to tell a story. Just like his music, it’s not for everybody, and to be sure, there will be few audiences as hungrily receptive as the one at its Midnight Madness Toronto premiere. But it brought the house down here, and should be a boon to the underdog Roku Channel when it arrives there in November.

Box office receipts don’t always tell the full story, especially when it comes to the enduring power of The Lonely Island and their unique brand of smart satire and genre dissection. While the long-time creative trio — including Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer — are perhaps best known for their “Saturday Night Live” digital shorts like “Dick in a Box” and “Lazy Sunday” and their wonderfully deranged big screen adaptation of their popular “MacGruber” sketches, just three years ago, they made another cult-classic-in-the-making in the form of “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.”
Styled as a mockumentary examining the career and life (and incredibly bad life choices) of eponymous pop star Conner Friel (Aka Conner4Real) as he spirals hilariously out of control after years in the spotlight, the film sends up not just the music industry, but the entertainment complex as a whole. Plus, there’s at least one...

Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are comedy trio The Lonely Island. Here are just some of their finest songs and sketches...
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was – yep, it’s time to call it - the funniest film of 2016. For those who blinked a little too long and didn’t catch it on its brief appearance in UK cinemas, the DVD release is your chance to find out what you’ve missed: a hilarious parody of current pop music’s excesses that blends acerbic criticism of predatory gossip shows and social media mobs with a sweet story of three feuding rappers struggling to mend their friendship. The fact that this touching tale also features Seal fending off a pack of wolves, Justin Timberlake dressed as a fish, and a bagpiper playing a lament at a beloved pet turtle’s Viking-inspired funeral comes as no surprise...

“InSight” is a twisty, manipulative, and surprisingly unpredictable thriller from actor/director Richard Gabai, whose credits up to now have been teen-friendly fare like “Popstar”, “Call of the Wild 3D”, and “Motocross Kids”. (You know, the kind of films you watch when no one knows you’re watching?) He’s also an actor, with roles in some truly horrific B-movies over the years (including as a regular in the films of one Fred Olen Ray, and if you don’t know who Fred Olen Ray is, then you’ve been denying yourself some truly awful direct-to-dvd B-movies). Gabai’s latest is a major detour from his usual stuff, with the director diving into a mind trip screenplay from Aaron Ginsburg and Wade McIntyre that, while it looks to be treading familiar territory, nevertheless manages to pull off a couple of surprises anyway. “InSight” stars “Justified’s” Natalie Zea as Kaitlyn,...

Gbk Productions hosted a killer two-day vintage beach chic pool party before the 2009 MTV Movie Awards to honor the award nominees and presenters by pampering them with two full days of luxury. The event was held in the Hollywood Hills at a remarkable estate with breathtaking views of downtown Los Angeles. When you hear Gbk Productions, you think luxury, and for this MTV Movie party there was no detail left unturned; the Gbk beach balls in the pool were begging to be thrown, the car that drove celebrities up and down the steep driveway was a perfect touch for those who enjoy high heels, and the decorations inside the event were simple yet extremely elegant. Last week we took a journey through our red carpet experience at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards where we brought you exclusive interviews with Twilight star Michael Welch, The Hills mastermind Frankie Delgado, and Hellboy villain Luke Goss,...
