Mae Martin: Sap is the new stand-up comedy special. This time, with Mae Martin.
Mae Martin: Sap is an enjoyable show that brings us this stand-up star called Mae Martin. A nice show and, apparently, not offensive (note the use of “apparently” there).
With its outward appearance of being a “light” show, it has the charm of knowing how to create powerful humor that combines “soft” jokes with an underlying much stronger wit, to put it that way. They discreetly hide a more twisted sense of language through their humor, a real art in itself.
It’s easy to see why this is precisely part of Mae Martin’s success, a comedian who has delighted millions of viewers around the world , who joyfully thrill to each and every one of their witticisms.

Supernatural is giving the archangel Michael a makeover in Season 13.
Christian Keyes (Let’s Stay Together) will portray the character — last seen using Jake Abel’s Adam as his vessel in Season 5 — when it’s revealed that Michael is not only alive in the apocalypse world, but is also a Genghis Khan-like conqueror, EW.com reports.
Could Michael be the show’s new Big Bad? Executive producer Andrew Dabb previously teased that Dean and Sam’s biggest threat in Season 13 will be “an old — let’s call him friend — who we have not seen for many years” and who hails from the alternate world.

1. "12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer" "Inside Amy Schumer" (Comedy Central) In the midst of a banner year, one that included a summer box-office smash ("Trainwreck") and an HBO special ("Amy Schumer Live at the Apollo"), the full arsenal of Schumer's lacerating comic talents is on display in this episode-length treatment of Sidney Lumet's courthouse classic. Dismantling the culture's patriarchal double standards with dildo jokes and riotously funny character work—including superb guest performances from Jeff Goldblum, Paul Giamatti, and John Hawkes (in the role originated by Henry Fonda)—"12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer" registers as an artistic analogue to the political activism by which women in Hollywood demanded meatier roles, more behind-the-camera opportunities, and equal pay in 2015, culminating in a federal investigation and a New York Times Magazine cover story. What may be most remarkable about the 19-minute...

Assuming that hot comedienne Amy Schumer isn't ready for primetime, she'd make a damn fine Oscar presenter, and with Chris Rock now confirmed to host the 88th Academy Awards on February 28 (ABC), he'll be able to land her, as he directed her raunchy Live at the Apollo TV special which aired on HBO this week. (Watch Rock's opening monologue from the 2005 Oscars in the clip above.) Triple-threat writer-director-star Rock already hosted the Oscars before, to strong critical reviews, in 2005, but got some blowback from industry insiders. And new show co-producer Reginald Hudlin has collaborated with the comedian, directing the pilot of his shuttered TV series “Everybody Hates Chris.” Last year Rock wrote and directed Paramount's "Top Five," starring himself and Rosario Dawson, and in 2009 wrote and produced the documentary "Good Hair." Besides writing, starring in and producing multiple features ("Nurse Betty," "The Longest Yard"),...

Amy Schumer's ditching the jokes to address a serious issue. The comedienne got extremely candid while chatting about her own body image issues with Maria Shriver during a pre-taped interview for "Today" on Friday. The "Inside Amy Schumer" star has teamed up with Goodwill of Southern California to help women feel more comfortable about themselves with fashion. Amy hopes that through her partnership, she'll be able to help women, like herself, feel more confident and empowered with the right clothes. "It's an emotional thing," she told Shriver during their sit-down interview. "It's been a struggle for me my whole life, and especially just being in the entertainment industry. Standing on a stage in front of people, I can't perform my best or be confident if I'm not sure — if I'm pulling at something [I'm wearing]. “This has been an insane year for me,” says Amy Schumer at the top of her first one-hour HBO special, after walking onstage to Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap,” carrying a half-drunk white-wine bottle and setting it on a stool in lieu of the usual water. Since HBO’s Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo was taped back in May, Schumer’s Comedy Central show, Inside Amy Schumer, was renewed for a fourth season. Her first feature film, Trainwreck, was a considerable success. She redefined #SquadGoals with her Instagrams featuring Jet Ski rides with Jennifer Lawrence, twerking sessions with Madonna, and private jet rides with her famous comedian friends on the Oddball Comedy Tour. She even got through hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend with nary a negative review. In her first HBO special (directed by Chris Rock, creator of some of the most memorable HBO specials...

Don't count Amy Schumer out of this year's Best Original Screenplay race. In the span of under a year, the unrepentantly brazen comedian opened her first major movie “Trainwreck,” won an Emmy for her fabulous and gutter-minded Comedy Central series and will now adapt her take-charge approach to sexuality to her first book, “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo.” Oh, and she has her own “Live at the Apollo” HBO special coming up. The one-hour special is directed by Chris Rock and will air on Saturday, October 17. It airs 10pm on both coasts. Her book is expected to debut next year, joining the pantheon of female comics including Tina Fey and Mindy Kaling. Publisher Gallery Books, which landed the deal to the tune of around $10 million, promises “personal and observational stories from Schumer that range from the raunchy to the romantic, the heartfelt to the harrowing.” While it’s...

From a star turning performance in Judd Apatow's "Trainwreck," to a weekly dosage of acerbic observations on gender inequality and white privilege neuroses in Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer," the wickedly funny writer turned malcontent turned stand-up turned tinseltown rebel has now found herself among the British film elite — and will be honored as such at this year's BAFTA Britannia Awards on October 30th, 2015. Schumer will receive the highly coveted Charlie Chaplin Award for Excellence in Comedy at the famed Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, fresh off the heels of her new HBO special, "Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo," directed by fellow veteran comedian Chris Rock. Jason Manford has said that he finds it baffling how offended people can get by jokes online and on TV, arguing that the best way to deal with people who decide to get offended is "ignore them".
The comedian also spoke about how he "massively" prefers the freedom of performing stand-up shows, compared to the restrictions he had during his time as a BBC presenter on The One Show.

On the subject of people complaining about jokes, Manford told Digital Spy: "As a comic, I'm not near the edge, I'm happy in the middle. So it doesn't really concern me.
"But it is interesting online, what happens. You do a gag on there and people can get ridiculously offended by it. They've decided to get offended by it. You've just got to let those people be those people. Ignore them.
