funny
hotblue053 June 2006
A very funny movie. It is a movie about five best friends taking a trip to Vegas to say goodbye to one man's single life forever. They think this trip is all about "stretching their morals," getting wasted, watching hot women (maybe even participating), and remembering (or not remembering) this as the best weekend of their lives, but the party planner has much more in store for them. You will not be prepared for what this movie has in store, and I recommend you to watch at least the first 45 minutes of this movie because it will have you cracking up with laughter. I guess you can kind of compare it to "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle," just because you never know what is going to happen next. I wouldn't call this movie a "must see," but I will definitely call this movie funny and entertaining and something you should get if you have seen everything else.

May not even be able to please its target audience!!!!
kooleshwar5 August 2006
Rated R for strong sexual content and humor including dialogue, nudity, language and some drug use.

While this rating and the DVD cover of this movie may make the so called lovers of cinema , wriggle their noses, ITS EXACTLY THE KIND OF RATING I LIKE MY MOVIES TO HAVE.

So trust me when I say, I AM THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR SUCH FILMS.

That being said I'm not a big fan of direct to DVD movies, if the movie isn't good enough to see in the theaters there's no reason it should be good enough to see on the TV.

But still THIS MOVIE HAD ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS I LIKE IN A COMEDY MOVIE AND KAL PENN. So I rented this movie but automatically lowered my expectations.

The movie started with promise with a hilarious joke on the racist nature of airport security, immediately the Multi-cultural nature of the cast struck me A black, A nerd, A fat guy , A Normal White Guy in Love, an Indian.......... no rational mind can accept this scenario and its been clearly done to increase the range of the audience as much as possible.

The movie had crude jokes, nudity, hot chicks, ugly chicks , fat chicks, Gay jokes but somehow I was hardly laughing, I even remember most of the jokes but I seem to recall laughing only for a couple of them namely the Airport Security one, the Porn Set, the hotel entry etc.

THIS IS A PERFECT CASE OF GREAT JOKES GONE WRONG. We all know a jokes is not all about its content but on its execution and this movie has clearly gone wrong there.

The background score was in fact quite good WHEN IT WAS USED, this movie completely forgot that sound effects can be used in films. The opening sequence was a great example of this.

The acting was in fact very good, the characters may have been stereotypical but the actors displayed their acting talents in the limited premise that was given to them. For me the winner was the nerdy guy who would do the most nerdiest things possible in all situations.

Script writing and direction are never fortes of such films and were not worth mentioning here either.

Towards the end the movie tried to be something its not, IN THE MOST PREDICTABLE MANNER POSSIBLE and it was the looser for it. For a moment this movie felt like a Chick Flick.

The only thing nagging me was that I saw the movie with the wrong company, and MAYBE ON A BETTER DAY THIS MOVIE COULD HAVE MADE ME LAUGH, given the potential of the jokes. But even then being a lover of such films this should have been a mere triviality.

All in all a ordinary film which wasted its potential and failed in execution. THERE IS A CHANCE THAT THIS MOVIE MAY MAKE YOU LAUGH (more than a a couple of times) BUT THE CHANCES ARE LOW.

Worth a miss.!!!

+s great jokes, good acting, a few well executed scenes

+/-s may be able to make you laugh if you like such movies (a gamble)

-s bad execution, tries to be what is not (unsuccessfully and predictably), no sound effects.

total 4.5/10 (factoring in Made for DVD and bad company)

Really Tries Hard
FilmFanInTheHouse22 December 2008
Vegas Baby (2006, Dir. Eric Bernt)

Nathan (Bennett) is getting married and he's left his four friends to plan his bachelor party. But what Z-Bob (Penn) thinks is a fool-proof plan to a wild night in Vegas, ends up as a chase across Vegas in what would be a weekend they would never forget.

Vegas Baby really tries hard to be a truly funny comedy film, but falls flat most of the time. There are jokes placed around, but these come mostly from Lin Shaye (who shows more than needs to be seen) and the unknown Himelstein. The main comedic draw of the film, Kal Penn fails to present any funny jokes at all, that he is known for.

What a lousy movie
Greatornot6 December 2008
I was able to guess the ending within the first half hour. This was just a very bad movie . The jokes were lame, the characters were not likable at all. The only welcome character in the movie was Vincent Pastore aka Big Pussy from Sopranos. Even the couple of scenes he was in could not save this movie. It was one of those movies where everything goes wrong. Like this has not been done to death . Very juvenile and watchable in the sense that you can not believe how bad a movie you are watching. Just when you think the movie can not get any worse it surprises and it does. In my opinion the best part of movie besides Mr. Pastores scenes were the clips that showed the Vegas strip or downtown Vegas.I did not expect much and thats exactly what I got. Kal Penn already has a slew of these movies with those White Castle flicks. I wonder if this guy has any acting range at all. Than again white castle burgers are small and evidently so is Kal Penns acting range. If you must watch this please watch it on cable already paid.

Horrible crap
Bluesilent27 September 2014
I bought this movie for one dollar and it wasn't worth it. I thought this movie would at least be funny, but it wasn't it was stupid, unfunny, boring and just gross.not one part of the movie was funny. Who the hell thinks this garbage is funny. This was so painful to watch . My eyes started to hurt from watching this crap. This was a waste of time and money . This movie was unbelievably horrible. Don't watch this garbage unless you want to torture yourself . This pile of crap is overrated. 4.7 is to much for this piece of sh#t . That's the rating it has at the time that I'm writing this review. This movie belongs in the bottom 100 list. It doesn't even deserve the one star I had to give it. This manure deserves a big fat negative zero. If you want to waste a hour and thirty minutes of your life do something else like cleaning a restroom after thousands of people have used it. It will be less painful then watching this turd. Whatever you do avoid this movie at all cost!!!!

Amazing mediocrity and not a hint of funny
petrogradskaya-124 April 2014
Of course I already had the bar quite low for this movie, expecting a good crude humour comedy, may be even a bad crude humour comedy but still enjoyable. Why? I like Kal Penn and the Harold and Kumar movies, I even liked Hangover, so in a streak of retrospect to Hangover and respect to Kal Penn I decided to rent this DVD in 2014. I regretted I did it. I never imagined that such senseless script could exist. Hopeless zero talented directing to boot as well. Kal Penn wouldn't have helped his movie even if he was a living deity of acting. The stop button took action in about 15 minutes from the start of Bachelor Party Vegas. You've been warned. Stay away from this junk even if you like below the waist humour and Kal Penn.

I like comedy, T&A, and a good story but...
ossroy31 July 2007
Although I practically live on IMDb, I've never written a review before. I have good taste but am not afraid to watch a good, tacky, prepubescent T&A flick. However, I feel I owe it to humanity to warn the rest of the world how awful this movie is.

I went to the video store to rent the original movie which I caught the last half of on cable not too long ago and loved (which shows I'm not some high-brow snob). Unfortunately, they don't carry it, so I decided to try this POS instead.

I'm not going to waste considerable time to write why this movie sucks so badly. Just take my word for it and do yourself a favor, forgo this movie, and rent the original 1984 "Bachelor Party".

I think someone should refund my money and pay damages for the pain and suffering I endured watching this movie.

Worst movie I've watched!
Ilovesports2430 September 2019
1 star rating is far too good for this movie. I have watched some really bad movies put out by Hollywood, but this may have been the worst I've ever watched. There are many recognizable actors and actresses in this movie, but it is just horribly written and directed. The guy from Harold and Kumar is just an awful actor. Do yourself a favor and never watch this. I couldn't get through the entire movie.

Not so Bad
knight_armour28 September 2008
The start of this movie makes it look like yet another attempt at a teen comedy. Hot chicks get naked, punk kids go bananas about them, and we all have some laughs. This one is slightly different, though. It starts off kind of like that but then develops into a story about friendship. In fact, it pulls it off so well, you actually forget that Z-Bob (Kal Penn), is actually Indian and does not quite fit in the group (at least not for another generation or so). Sure there's the token black guy and the token fat guy but they manage to carry their weight somehow. The bachelor himself, unfortunately, is a kind of a forgettable character. Even their geek buddy manages to outshine him. It's worth watching if you can't find anything better to do.

It's like if the hangover was bad and unfunny
draculabakula20 November 2012
This is the type of movie that is becoming extinct. The top review for this movie stresses that to enjoy this movie you just need to sit back and not think about it too much. The problem with that type of review is that with good movies you don't have to make this justification. You don't ever have to say that it's fun if you don't think about it too much about great comedies. I do think there are movies out there that fit this description but this is not one of them. This movie is very unoriginal. haha I get it old people and fat people are gross, casino owners are thugs and rednecks are swindlers. The main characters performances are not terrible but there is not much comedy found through the characters. It's like there are 5 straight men for the most part.

Its a Bachelor Party
bobbyben27 September 2006
I watched this film with no expectations!!. That's the key to enjoying movie's like these. Really enjoyed it and so did my friends. It's a Bachelor Party Movie (no donkey snorting coke this time). So you would think it's in the same spirit as a National Lampoon Movie. If you want to watch a film where you don't have to think, just RELAX and Laugh this is the film for you!. Seem's to me a lot of people being hard on it, or did they expect it to be a documentary of Bachelor Parties?. Too much Reality Show's on already In my opinion. I would watch again and will purchase. I liked seeing some familiar face's and some new face's that did a good job.

It's not bad, it's just not great...
cutie_mcpretty16 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people have made terrible reviews on this movie, but I think people have just watched the movie with their expectations low and have just watched it to criticise it and to pick out all the bad bits, but the things they missed were the good bits.

This movie is entertainment through and through, its quick paced, its got good actors and its got a good story. The only thing that let it down was the script, (which luckily enough was pepped up by the actors) and the other thing that let it down also was the over use of half naked women. I'm not saying there shouldn't have been any, I understood there was going to be quite a lot, it being a bachelor party and all, but you know it's gone too far when you begin to feel uncomfortable watching it by yourself. There seemed to be a hot girl round every corner and they kept popping up in the most bizarre places... but that's my only criticism

It's a fun movie, which takes you on an entertaining adventure with these five guys, all of whom have very good characters. Some jokes made by them did just pass by me, but I did smile and laugh at some others, which I think is a huge accomplishment for a movie, because I know there are some big Hollywood comedies out there, which people don't laugh at, yet they're big movies.

Also, the reason some of the jokes aren't so funny is not because they're bad jokes, it's because they just glaze over you. But when watching this movie look out for the character Eli, played by the talented actor Aaron Himelstein, he's the one that makes you laugh and the majority of the funny jokes come from him and his awesome nervous character.

I liked the ending, simply because as the movie was getting closer to the end they gave you enough clues to guess what was going to happen, so therefore it was less disappointing than it could have been. The ending was also well explained, rather than it being a simple, unexplained twist, it actually had a nice story behind it and it made you smile.

This is a movie that I would have probably enjoyed a lot more if I hadn't of read all of the terrible reviews, simple because no movie can be enjoyed when you know the bad bits that people have found. I'd say the only down fall was the over use of sex and gross out humour, which I don't particularly mind in a movie, but in this movie it just lasted a bit too long. Over all, I was entertained, I enjoyed it, which in the end, is all you want from a movie.

So ignore the bad reviews, and try and forget about them when you watch this movie, because it really isn't that bad, it makes you laugh and smile and has a good story and good actors, which is all I wanted from it.

Stupid movie
geok231 August 2006
This movie made me waste 1hour and something. It is a lousy movie and my opinion is that you shouldn't even be thinking of watching it. The screenplay sucks, the plot is like a big pile, adding stupid adventures. The movie tries to imitate the British action very sophisticated films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels by an unexpected ending and by the plot twist in favor of the main characters, but they obviously fail. The actors aren't real and they don't do a very convincing interpretation. If you really don't have anything to do at home, don't watch this movie, go see Pirates of the Carribbean 2 for the second time.

Worst movie every made? It's close.
key-2615 July 2006
How does movies like this get made? I can understand the writer not being able to see the material for what it is, but how does ANYONE read this script and think it will make a good movie. It was about as far from funny as an alleged comedy can get. This sad attempt is a rehashing off all the old, older and oldest gags and bringing nothing new to the table.

I was going to go on, but I can't waste any more time with this. My request to the producers, director and writer - "You don't have a clue about film-making. Please seek alternate work rather than continue to disappoint those investing their time seeking entertainment!"

This movie is horrible and should never have been released.
phildeezz25 November 2006
I just finished watching this movie with my friends, and I am actually angry right now. I want to punch myself in the face because this movie was so incredibly horrible. I want my hour and a half back. Please, never see this movie. I do not understand how the actors of this movie could allow this to be released. They are successful actors, but this movie makes them all look money hungry and that they do not care about stealing time and money from the viewer. I hope I have saved someone the time. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! The plot is horrible, the acting is cheesy, and the jokes are not even original. You sit there in a stupor waiting for it to get entertaining, but it never does. I am ashamed of the actors/comedians for making this. The only real joke is the one that the producers/writers/actors played on the unsuspecting viewer!

Fun and nothing more
rigovega25 January 2020
A group of men go to Vegas for their friends bachelor party to have what they think will be the time of their life. This premise is quite common actually and not surprising by any means. Something to point out is how unnecessary the nudity is and how out of place it felt. Sure, you are witnessing a group of guys going all out in Vegas but the sexual aspect to the film felt forced. At times, the acting is a little off and definitely doesn't help the already predictable movie. There is better films of this type but this one is at least fun.

I love movies like this, but this one was HORRIBLE!
ryancorsica82 September 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Please understand that I spend almost every night watching some ridiculous comedy or other movie out there. I love all of the American Pie Movies, as well as many other types of Direct-to-DVD movies. I live for that type of funny movie.

Bachelor Party Vegas, however, is absolute garbage. I did not laugh at all except during one scene. The boobs are nice, but that was the only redeeming quality. There is however, more homosexual content than naked chicks. It's outright offensive. I felt completely sick to my stomach the entire time that I was watching these fat homos rubbing on the main characters.

Also, the ending is completely unbelievable and ridiculous.

So, If you like nasty old ladies who act like strippers, fat gay guys who rub on the main characters for over 5 minutes straight, a set of events that has nothing positive in it, and very few tits, please be my guest and get this movie.

For everyone else, Please DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! My stomach is still in knots...

Go to Vegas, see Huey Newton
nogodnomasters13 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The movie oozes with adolescent immaturity from the opening scenes until the final credits. A successful film that degrades to the inane starts out with something realistic and takes the descent in steps. This one starts with a guy taking a nude blowup doll (while inflated) on a plane. While the film idea was great, especially the ending, the execution was awful. Poor direction and script. Worth avoiding if you are over 18.

F-bomb, lap dancing and groping, less nudity than expected, crude humor.

"Babies in Vegas"
Kamurai2510 March 2021
Decent watch, probably won't watch again, but can recommend.

This is sort of a poor man's "The Hangover", or maybe just a standard bachelor party trope. There are some fine twists along the way, but the way it plays out, it tries to do 2 things and sort of fumbles both.

It fails at being a bachelor party style movie as they have a limited amount of actual fun during all the abuse humor, and the only woman I was excited to see was Jaime Less Pressly, playing herself.

The other thing it tries to do fails as it hampered by the sticking to the bachelor party format when it would have been much better to go completely off the rails.

It's fun, it's funny, but any of the Hangovers or the American Pie movies are probably going to be a better watch.

Don't rent this movie. Just walk away from it at Blockbuster
Ikouvdos14 December 2006
When I rented this movie from Blockbuster, I thought it was going to be a good one. I saw Kal Penn's picture on the cover of the DVD and thought it was going to be funny.... NOT. Although I do think that Kal Penn is hilarious in his other movies like Harold & Kumar and Van Wilder, I did not think he was that great in this one. I thought the acting sucked and the plot was cheesy. This is a total low budget B film. I cant believe I wasted my time watching this movie. I wish I could get a refund back from Blockbuster. Anyhow, there were some cool cameo appearances from Chuck Liddell and Vincent Pastore so I did vote this a 2.

Crazy, wacky and fun
charlene_boyle19 June 2006
I really enjoyed this comedy. It started with an excellent cast of characters both main and supporting. I can't think of anyone that could have played any of the parts better. Everyone had a great connection and really made you believe they were best friends. Each of the main characters was distinctive in their own way making it easy to relate to at least one. You never know what to expect from scene to scene. All you can be sure of is that your going to laugh. The ending is a major surprise unlike a lot of comedies where you know how its going to end from the start of the movie. If you like crazy, wacky comedies then you'll love this one.

Why can't I award less than 1 star???
carp6814 January 2008
The dregs. I rated this movie on the portion I watched--I turned this off before it was over. I'm scarred by the amount I watched. Stay away--this is the pits. I was passing through and caught this on Starz! and aside from paying for the monthly subscription fee for Starz!, I am certainly glad I didn't rent this or (God forbid!) pay to see this in the theater. I realize films (!) like this are made strictly for release on DVD and cater to a specific crowd, but this one was simply pathetic. I'm no high-brow--I enjoy goof-ball flicks (Dude, Where's My Car?) as much as the next person, but this just seemed lazy. I got the feeling the writers (!) pirated a do-it-yourself "teen movie" template from a website and just plugged in their own specifics. And they failed. This movie is tired and clichéd and populated with bad acting. My REAL rating is less than the 1 star I gave it...

The movie should have stayed in Vegas!
lastliberal23 January 2008
Oh, be honest. What do you expect when you watch a movie with a name like this. Well, that is what you get.

Sure there are lots of perfect and large boobs, some of the best I have ever seen, but that cannot keep you interest lone.

Kai Penn tried to make this funny. he was really worth watching, but there just weren't enough jokes to sustain it and what they did have was tired and a rehash of other movies.

I could not believe the bad luck they were having trying to get this party going, and I guessed the gag long before it was revealed. I could have done without the speech.

Uninspired gross-out with a vaguely enjoyable second half
Sandcooler29 August 2012
The wave of straight-to-DVD sex comedies that has been flooding video stores for the last decade reminds me of a lot of the whole slasher boom back in the 1980s: both genres look incredibly easy to make, but both genres are pretty hard to get completely right. They're also both easy to distribute and thus alluring to less gifted filmmakers, and God have we been learning that the hard way. "Bachelor Party Vegas" is one of those typical movies by people who've seen stuff like "American Pie" and "Porky's", but drew completely wrong conclusions from them. Yeah I love disgusting humor, but I also love interesting (though not even necessarily complex) characters, coherent stories and actors that look like they want to be there. The crude humor is supposed to be icing on the cake, not the sole reason the movie exists. Ten minutes into this movie I had already seen dildos, penis cream, nudie mags, porn flicks, a foul-mouthed grandma, an elderly stripper and a nude fat guy who humps the entire cast. The phrase "tries too hard" doesn't even begin to cover it. The movie does get gradually better throughout, but better is still nowhere near good. It's nice that eventually they do create some kind of plot and even put in a genuinely clever twist, but as far as laughs go I still counted about zero. I guess overall "Bachelor Party Vegas" is probably not the worst in its genre, which is about the nicest thing I can say about it.

Brilliant Movie - If Francis Ford Coppola entered the Comedy World
gergjones126 December 2007
I was watching this with my friends on a cold Christmas night, we were flipping through the channels and low an behold we stumbled upon this little gem.

For starters we are presented with an all-star cast. Kal Penn, Jonathan Bennett, Donald Faison and the fat kid from Angus brilliantly portray what it would be like to go through the ULTIMATE Vegas adventure. The plot starts off rather simple as we are told that a group of guys are going on a trip to Vegas and bought the "Ultimate Vegas Bachelor Party Package". Well if simple means complex then this movie is simple. And if this simple means simple then this movie is NOT simple.

The supporting cast is reminiscent of an Oceans 11 movie. We have Big Pussy, Chuck Liddell, Jaime Pressly, Daniel Stern and Kathy Griffin giving some very impressive performances. You are all wondering how what the heck are all these celebrities doing in this movie? Well if I told you then it would take all the fun out of the movie ;) The musical score in this movie treats you to a John Williams type experience as if you are listening to the Indian Jones theme for the first time. The way they incorporate the metal music with Chuck Liddells screen time was beautiful. Also I have to add there a twist at the end of the movie that even Rod Serling would have never guessed. Think Twilight Zone for Bachelor Parties 4 out of 4 stars
