McBride will grow on you
blanche-216 June 2005
I've seen several episodes of "McBride" and I like it a little better each time I see it. John LaRoquette is very good in everything. As McBride, I love how much he can communicate with just a wry glance.

In this particular episode, McBride's client is double-crossed during a custody case by his psychiatrist. The client later confesses to McBride that he believes he accidentally shot the doctor when he confronted him in his home. When McBride goes to the murder scene, the doctor is, as the title says, out - as in gone! A search for the body begins, with time of the essence. David Bowe has a nice comic turn as the panicked client. Former child star Sydney Penny plays one of the suspects, and she has grown up to be a very beautiful young woman. Soap star John Ingle is the confused head of the hospital.

These Hallmark mystery movies are nice shows - decent mysteries, good acting, some familiar faces. As far as LaRoquette, I quote Blanche Dubois: "That one seems superior to the others."

Together again.

I couldn't help noticing a familiar face on the McBride: The Doctor Is Out, Really Out (2005) - that being Gigi Rice, who I first noticed on "The John Larroquette Show" which ran in 1993 (I just found that date while doing some research on this matter). I'm not sure if she also played on the show "Night Court" on which John Larroquette also appeared (and won an Emmy for being on that show) prior to "The John Larroquette Show". I couldn't help wondering if there was something personal between John and Gigi. I'm assuming that, as I found Gigi has been married to the handsome actor Ted McGinley, that it wasn't a romantic relation (as it was on "The John Larroquette Show") that John has with Gigi - but probably and no doubt a professional one. He must really like working with her and vise verse and they do seem to have a great chemistry. I'd like to see more of both of them - together and/or apart!!

John Larroquette is an actor's actor -- three different series, all of them quality shows.

I like his latest character the best, though "McBride" seems to have a bit of the roguish "Dan Fielding" in him at times. :)

My only complaint is that Hallmark doesn't turn out enough of their Mystery series, and their broadcast schedule for the series is very inconsistent. Are they even producing any more episodes?

But the main thing I wanted to ask was... did anyone notice that Gigi Rice, who was one of the stars of "The John Larroquette Show," had a role in this "McBride" episode?
