Plot: Charles is a womanizer while Elaine is a gold digger. The duo learn humanity when forced to team up and pursue robot doubles of themselves.
Review: Romantic comedies tend to be wholesome and enjoyable without any sort of pertinent social message. The same goes for the typical raunchy sex comedy. Rarely are these two sub-genres seen bundled together, least of all with a science fiction twist. The new film Robots, starring Jack Whitehall and Shailene Woodley, is both a sex comedy and a romantic one but with a sci-fi angle that is all packaged together into a relevant social message about the immigration reform in the United States. If that sounds like a heavy subject matter, rest assured that it delivers a coherent and funny message that may not be quite as strong as the filmmakers hoped. Nevertheless, Robots is a unique blend of styles that is heartfelt and funny.

While there are unfortunately no English subtitles included fans of the hit Klown television series and films - Klovn in their native Denmark - hungry for a taste of what creator / stars Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen have cooked up in the upcoming comedy Dan Dream get their first look with the release of a clip from the film. Written by and starring the duo, very little is known yet about plot specifics as they've preferred to keep things under wraps beyond the fact that it's based around a type of social shaming known as the Jante Law which is fairly unique to the region. Even without subtitles the tone of the thing comes through loud and clear and the period setting looks fantastic....

The blessing comes in the form of a character development that takes place over the course of films and phases instead of scenes and acts. Tragedy is easy. Comedy is hard. And making a comedy sequel is impossible Four years ago, Klown (original Danish title: Klovn) blew into worldwide cinematic consciousness as a wickedly funny, perversely smutty, and utterly original comedy. Born on a television series, Frank (Frank Hvam) and Casper (Casper Christensen) are longtime friends, constantly led into ridiculous situations by their own personality traits. Casper is the magnetic one, ready to plunge into new waters on a moment's notice, while Frank tends to hold back before joining Casper, although his self-control is never too strong. In the years since the original movie, Frank and Casper have become famous in Denmark, and are preparing to publish a promotional book about friendship, a friendship that is now on the rocks....

Racism, sexism, inappropriate coupling: Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen cheerily mine every taboo for a laugh in this sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit
When the film Klovn (Klown) shot to notoriety on the festival circuit in 2012, it did so with the benefit of surprise. Only those familiar with its six seasons on Danish TV could have seen it coming. But when, in the first few moments, meek schlemiel Frank (Frank Hvam) ejaculates into his mother-in-law’s eye, it wasn’t just the shock that got laughs, but the humanity with which it happened. It’s not like we in the audience were thinking “Oh, I’ve been there” but we could see how Frank’s alpha male buddy Casper (Casper Christensen) could lead a lovable yutz like Frank into a situation where this could occur.
Klown’s style of humour feels like every Curb Your Enthusiasm bit that has been rejected for going too far.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been over a half-a-decade since the Danish dark comedy Klown was first released. After enjoying a festival run and release here — in which it rightfully earned acclaim for its Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque awkwardness and depravity — the duo have returned. Klown Forever, a follow-up from the original team of director Mikkel Nørgaard and writers / stars Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen, will be released this fall and the U.S. trailer has now landed.
As we said in our review, “Those familiar with the off-kilter comedic duo behind the Danish TV series Klown (or Klovn as it is known in Denmark) — which spurned one of the most hilarious and inappropriate feature films of recent years — will know exactly what type of humor to expect from their sequel Klovn Forever. Those familiar with the off-kilter comedic duo behind the Danish TV series Klown (or Klovn as it is known in Denmark) — which spurned one of the most hilarious and inappropriate feature films of recent years — will know exactly what type of humor to expect from their sequel Klovn Forever. Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen star essentially as parodies of themselves in this Curb Your Enthusiasm-style comedy, combining mundane issues from their personal lives with some extremely outlandish situations. They push the boundaries of what is considered appropriate with their off kilter brand of humor, falling into categories that are intentionally offensive — such as misogyny and even racism. But therein lies the appeal: in these playful antics, here considered nonchalant, do we as an audience find humor in how outrageous and disrespectful they can be.

When a few hundred films stop by the 40th Toronto International Film Festival (289, to be exact), it’s certainly impossible to cover everything, but we were able to catch about 90 features (along with dozens of shorts) — and, with that, it’s time to conclude our experience.
We’ve rounded up our top ten films screened during the festival, followed by a list of the complete coverage, and stay tuned over the next months (or years) as we bring updates on features as they make their way to screens. Fantastic Fest is more like summer camp than just a normal film festival. It happens once a year in September. You get together with old friends and meet new ones. Every day and night is filled with fun activities. Most importantly though, this non-traditional camp is for fans of the most bizarre, violent, horrific, and Fantastic films you could imagine. And even still, Fantastic Fest is so much more. I will be covering Fantastic Fest once again this year starting September 24 through October 1. This will be my fourth time attending Fantastic Fest and We Are Movie Geeks fifth time covering the crazy events that take place in Austin. For eight days I will be immersed in a world that is unlike any other film festival I have ever attended. What other festival is going to feature events like an opening night Christmas party, a karaoke competition, a “nerd rap” throwdown,...

It is time for me to make my peace with the fact that I will not be at Fantastic Fest this year. Last year's fest was one of my favorites ever, fitting for a tenth anniversary, and I would love to go this year. It's just not in the cards, though. It guts me, too. The event continues to grow and change and evolve, and it features one of the greatest programming teams in the business right now. There are films playing at the festival that I'll see in Toronto, and I'm sure I'll catch up with others, but that's not the point. Fantastic Fest is an experience, and an amazing one. If you want to go, you still can. "Daytime Only Badges, Fan Badges, and 2Nd Half Badges for Fantastic Fest 2015 are available for purchase here," today's press release urged. If you can go for the second half, you'll...

Yes, Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam are back together and production has commenced on Danish comedy Klovn Forever. Those who have already seen the original Klovn - distributed in the Us by Drafthouse Films as Klown - know why this is cause for celebration. But for those who don't ... oh, you've got some catching up to do and you're going to love doing it. Klovn began life as a long running and immensely popular Danish TV comedy with Christensen and Hvam - both popular comedians and TV personalities - playing somewhat exaggerated versions of themselves and living out every negative male impulse on screen to...

★★★★☆Based on the long-running Danish television series of the same name, Mikkel Nørgaard's outrageously juvenile comedy of errors, Klown (Klovn, 2010), is nothing if not crude, vulgar and inappropriate; and it's also the funniest film of this year. Having been released in the Us late last year, it now gets a cinematic release in the UK via Arrow Films. Combining extremely naturalistic performances with some superb examples of gross-out comedy, Klown plays like a cross between BBC's The Office (2001) and Todd Phillips' The Hangover cycle - yet is considerably more outrageous than both aforementioned parties.

Sacha Baron Cohen is looking to hire Danish comedians Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam to pen his next film, The Lesbian. The duo created and starred in an awkward comedy series called Klovn, which birthed a raunchy indie film, Klown. Variety's sources say Baron Cohen loved Klown so much he traveled to Denmark and convinced Christensen and Hvam to pause work on a sequel so they could tackle The Lesbian. The comedy will be based on a 2012 news story about a Hong Kong billionaire offering $65 million to a man who could successfully marry his lesbian daughter.

Call it a change of pace for director Mikkel Norgaard. A really, really big change of pace. Best known as the director of Klown - or Clown, or Klovn, depending on where you are - the comedy for which he directed forty two episodes of television plus the hit feature fil, Norgaard's body of work is dominated by the comedy forces of nature that are Klown stars Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen. And while his television work runs deeper and more diverse than that - he's also directed four episodes of stellar political drama Borgen (The Castle), for instance - he's never going to really shake that tag until he does something else quite big and quite different on the big screen. And here it is.Norgaard...

Klown Directed by: Mikkel Norgaard Written by: Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen Starring: Frank Hvam, Casper Christensen and Marcuz Jess Petersen Klown is a Danish film based on a popular television series (Klovn) that ran six seasons before things wrapped up in 2009. Now the co-creators who also starred in the series bring their ribald brand of comedy to the big screen in a madly inappropriate take on the classic road trip film. Frank (Frank Hvam) and Casper (Casper Christensen) make an unlikely pair. Casper is perpetually looking for ways to get laid, never mind that he is married. He orchestrates a weekend canoe trip under the guise of having a boy's weekend, but he really wants to get away from his wife, and dubs the weekend "Tour de Pussy", even though mild-mannered Frank has no interest on cheating on his girlfriend. Casper is the alpha dog and walks all over Frank.

With “Klovn’s” television run finishing in 2009 after six seasons, celebrated Danish comedians Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen decided on a big screen transition to continue their socially awkward antics. Taking a page—whether coincidentally or not seems up for debate to some—from Larry David‘s “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, their characters exist in a heightened state of normalcy. Uncomfortably dealing with life lessons alongside family and friends, these two buffoons obviously have a few screws loose when it comes to thinking before they act. Selfish, utterly aloof, and prone to ruining their lives with relative ease, the men of Klovn: The Movie [Klown] should appeal to many HBO subscribers as a result. Therefore, the fact this proud “Curb” hater found it off-putting, boring for stretches, and oftentimes misguided shouldn’t detract viewers from watching. Conversely, the surprising fact I started enjoying myself about halfway through might actually be a recommendation.

With the final season of Eastbound & Down wrapping up on Sunday, Danny McBride's schedule is wide open once again. He's been attaching himself to quite a few projects over the past few years including Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel's The Apocalypse, Jody Hill's L.A.P.I. and Todd Phillips' The Chadster, and now it looks like he will also be adding another Todd Phillips production to his plate called Clown. The movie is a remake of a Danish flick called Klovn, a raunchy comedy that has received plenty of comparisons to The Hangover. Danny McBride will write the script and star in the film. The plot synopsis is as follows: "Casper and Frank plan a canoeing trip deemed 'Tour de Pussy' in which they plan to party hard and have as much sex as possible. Then, Frank discovers his girlfriend is pregnant and wants to get rid of the baby.

Like ‘em or loathe ‘em, there’s no disputing that the Hangover films have been wildly successful at the box office. Whether he's a medieval knight ("Your Highness"), a pot dealer ("Pineapple Express"), or a bulletproof tiger/redneck baseball player ("Eastbound and Down"), Danny McBride has one mode: inappropriate.
And that's why we love him.
Thus, we are very pleased to tell you that McBride has no intention to go soft with his next project as actor-producer-writer, which Deadline says will be a remake of the Danish film and TV series "Klovn" (which means clown or fool) along with bro-centric producer Todd Phillips of "Project X" and "The Hangover"-infamy.
Somewhat modeled after Larry David's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," the series followed Frank Hvam and Casper Christensen as they got into various awkward/envelope-pushing situations. "Klovn: The Movie," of which McBride's screenplay will take its shape, involved the two buddies going on a canoeing trip with a girlfriend's 11-year-old kid without discarding their initial plan to have as much drunken sex as possible.

Another former award winner is Richard Bates Jr. who will be screening Excision, another feature-length extension of a short film, this one about a teenage girl who exercises her morbid obsession with surgery every chance she gets.

I normally do not subscribe to the hipness of using “Omg” but found the obnoxious acronym making numerous appearances in my mind while watching Klovn, or Clown: The Movie in English. Based on a popular Danish television series by the same creative force, the film fine tunes its awkwardly direct and unbelievable content to fit perfectly within a feature film.
Clown follows the antics of Frank (Frank Hvam) and Casper (Casper Christensen) as they embark on the “Tour de Pussy,” an annual pilgrimage to the estate of a wealthy man who hosts the best prostitutes from around the world for just on day of unforgettable debauchery. But, this is the story of their journey, not of the event itself. After Frank makes an utter mess of his relationship with Mia (Mia Lyhne) following some major, unexpected news. He joins Casper for a canoe trip down the river to the big event,...

Klovn (Clown: The Movie)
Written by Mikkel Nørgaard, Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam
Directed by Mikkel Nørgaard
Denmark, 2010
For many, child-rearing is a terrifying prospect. The idea that some other being manifests themselves and usurps one’s position as the most important being in one’s own life can be troubling, particularly if one’s self-actualization is rather stunted. So it’s with no surprise that Frank (Frank Hvam) is less than thrilled when, while attending his friend’s wedding, he discovers that his wife (Mia Lynhe) is pregnant. She’s less than thrilled, too, since Frank has proven himself to be less than father material, and she’s weighing the possibility of terminating the unborn child. Frank is naturally incensed, and seeks to prove his worthiness as a father by essentially abducting young Bo (Marcuz Jess Petersen) and taking him along on a camping trip with best buddy Casper...
