On Feb. 9, 1964, the British invaded America in a way that made pop-culture history.
Four lads from Liverpool gave their first U.S. television performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and exactly 50 years later -- same hour, same night, same network -- the event will be recalled in the CBS special "The Beatles: The Night That Changed America - A Grammy Salute" Sunday, Feb. 9. Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr perform on the show, and also are interviewed by David Letterman, but renderings of the ultra-iconic group's music largely fall to others.
The roster includes teamings of Keith Urban and John Mayer, and Alicia Keys and John Legend, plus Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisley, Pharrell Williams, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, and a reunion of former Eurythmics partners Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart.
The Beatles themselves will be represented by clips from the Sullivan show, on which they also...

When Eric Clapton throws a party, everyone comes. That was the impression left by the second night of the Crossroads Guitar Festival, a two-part concert raising funds for the substance abuse treatment center that he founded in the Caribbean. In addition to the previous evening’s stellar line-up, most of whom returned for encores, there were performances by Jeff Beck, Robbie Robertson, and, oh yes, Keith Richards, who made an unannounced appearance. Needless to say, Madison Square Garden’s roof was raised. Concert Review: Fleetwood Mac Reunites in Madison Square Garden It’s a testament to Clapton’s reputation and the worthiness

New York — Eric Clapton's Crossroads festival has become the mecca for riff worshippers, so it was appropriate that guitar deity Keith Richards made a surprise appearance to perform with Clapton.
The Rolling Stone received perhaps the most sustained standing ovation of the night as he joined his old pal toward the end of Crossroads, a two-night concert festival at Madison Square Garden that brought together a dazzling array of guitar masters, from John Mayer to Jeff Beck to legends like Buddy Guy, and of course, Clapton and Richards.
Richards – whose Stones announced another tour earlier this month – flashed his typical wry smile to the crowd before joining Clapton in playing the blues standard and Clapton favorite "Key to the Highway. "
"Now we're gonna rock it up," Richards said before launching into "Sweet Little Rock N' Roller."
Richards' appearance was only the beginning of Clapton's hour-plus-long set, which included hits...

Blending a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll, Keith Urban and John Mayer joined forces at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday (April 12).
The "Gravity" singer wore a floral button-down shirt and jeans, while the Aussie crooner sported a black short-sleeved shirt, and black jeans.
Along with the opportunity to share the stage with someone they might not otherwise perform with at such a unique festival, the concert also raised money for The Crossroads Centre, Antigua.
Founded by Clapton in 1997, the residential treatment facility seeks to provide quality, affordable treatment for alcohol and other drug dependencies.
