The dramatic situations are developed to their full value
deickemeyer28 September 2015
This picture in staging takes the audience back to Thebes, but it presents a very human story. The daughter of the King of Thebes shows her spirit in a way that proved acceptable to the audience. It seems rather hard that a woman of so much spirit should make way with herself, but that was the way of the ancient world, and she did no more than others under the same circumstances. That she showed a proper spirit in avenging her husband will be admitted. While an audience may not wish to condone murder, it is recognized that this woman had more than the usual provocation to kill, and if she did, the average audience will commend her. The picture is acted with spirit and the dramatic situations are developed to their full value. The audience received it with enthusiasm. - The Moving Picture World, November 26, 1910
