This fall, TV welcomes an engaging and slick new Marvel series about people possessing unique powers.
But in addition to The Gifted, there will also be Marvel’s Inhumans.
What follows is a review of the Inhumans “movie” now playing in IMAX theaters, ahead of the eight-episode ABC series’ launch (on Friday, Sept. 29). What’s in theaters runs 75 minutes, whereas the double-episode TV premiere reportedly includes 10 extra minutes. This review will be relatively non-spoilery, but I cannot speak for the Comments made by those who also ponied up $20 cash to see it in IMAX (nor will we be monitoring them...

With Michael Berryman, Sully Erna and Nick Principe already in the cast of their upcoming film, you'd think producer Chad Verdi and Woodhaven Productions would rest on their laurels. But that's far from the case as the team has enlisted Tony Todd for their Army of the Damned.
"Tony Todd is a great actor and a horror legend," Verdi said. "He was the last piece of the puzzle that I felt this film needed to be the blockbuster I know it will be."
Todd will join Berryman, Erna and Principe along with entertainer Joey Fatone and former professional wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Thea Trinidad as well as David Chokachi, Jackie Moore and Tom Paolino in the Army of the Damned cast. The film will be directed by Tom DeNucci and photographed by cinematographer Sam Eilertsen. You can keep updated on the project by 'liking' Army of the Damned on Facebook.

Kim Kardashian, actress?
If the E! star has her way, we'll know her for much more than her reality shows (and, uh, extracurricular video activities) soon.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star has booked a recurring role on Lifetime's "Drop Dead Diva" as a new love interest for Fred. The show follows the adventures of a shallow model who wakes up in the body of a plus-size lawyer after a fatal accident. (It's complicated.)
Kardashian will play Nikki, the business partner of Fred's ex, Stacy. She'll debut in the show's fourth season premiere this summer, Lifetime announced.
"I'm ecstatic to welcome Kim to the 'Diva' family," creator Josh Berman says in a statement. "In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I'm blown away by her smarts, sense of humor and passion. This series is all about reinvention and I'm so excited to see Kim 'reinvented' in the world of 'Drop Dead Diva.

Funnier though were the regular guest appearances by a handful of WWF wrestlers (WWF Raw was broadcast the same network) including Sable, Chyna, Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

"The Walking Dead" unleashes the third episode of its second season, "Save the Last One," this Sunday night (October 30). We left last week's episode with Shane and Otis desperately seeking a way to avoid becoming dinner for a small army of very, very hungry zombies, while Rick Grimes and his wife Lori watched hopelessly over Carl, still suffering from the accidental gunshot wound delivered by Otis.
So, what's next? Will Shane, already dead at this point in the comics, live to see another day, or has he finally met his maker? What's going to happen to Carl? And what kind of fantastic zombies will Greg Nicotero give us this week?
Beyond the break, read five teases of what's coming next. Be warned: some mild spoilers lie ahead.

Now that she dominates reality television, fashion and nightlife coast to coast, Kim Kardashian has set her sights on the biggest spotlight of them all: the big screen.
The reality star/designer/businesswoman/HuffPost Game Changer has joined the cast of Tyler Perry's next film, "The Marriage Counselor," she tweeted Friday night. Based on one of Perry's plays, the film tells the story of a marriage counselor whose own marriage begins to fall apart when her husband's parents move in. She begins to cheat on her husband, and Kardashian will play a co-worker who takes her to the big city for a makeover.
The role dovetails well with her recent, televised marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. The announcement was also a great birthday gift for Kardashian; she turned 31 on Friday.

The latest Batman buzz is that a six-minute "Dark Knight Rises" prologue will be attached to copies of the IMAX release of "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol" in December, just like the Joker-driven opening scene of "The Dark Knight" was attached to "I Am Legend" ahead of its release. Last year, Frank Darabont brought horror fans the comic book adaptation of The Walking Dead on cable television. The only downside, it was only a 6 episode first season. Editor’s Note: Coincidentally, this post was supposed to be published in the early morning of July 14th. I noticed it wasn’t published after the first wave of Fantastic Fest films were announced.
Last year, I experienced my first Fantastic Fest. It was also my first film festival that I attended outside of St. Louis. My attendance meant a big deal for me, not only as a fan, but for the site as well. Not knowing when the official announcement for Fantastic Fest 2011 will be released, I can only assume it will be within the next couple of weeks as Fantastic Fest always released their first wave of films in mid-July. Beyond the break are some of my guesses on films that may or may not play – one of which is definitely playing.

The tale begins with Jonathan Harker, journeying by train and carriage from England to Count Dracula’s crumbling, remote castle situated in the Carpathian Mountains on the border of Transylvania. The purpose of his mission is to catalogue the big library of Dracula. At first enticed by Dracula’s gracious manner, Harker soon discovers that he has become a prisoner in the castle. He also begins to see disquieting facets of Dracula’s nocturnal life. One night while searching for a way out of the castle, and against Dracula’s strict admonition not to venture outside his room at night, Harker falls under the spell of three wanton female vampires, the Brides of Dracula.

We Need to Talk About Kevin recently thrilled audiences at its debut screening at the Cannes film festival. This is the third film from director Lynne Ramsay who also gave us Morvern Collar, a thoughtful look at a girl who copes in the wrong ways with her boyfriend’s suicide. The remake train rolls again. This time it makes a stop in Peckinpah’s town as Rod Lurie (The Contender) brings us a reworking of the original Straw Dogs that starred Dustin Hoffman. I am a huge fan of Straw Dogs and part of that reason is it actually unnerved me. The scene is infamous and always talked about among film nerds due to moral views. We have seen the beloved Italian genre inspire eveything from the films of Tarantino (Kill Bill), to the books of Stephen King (The Dark Tower), to the music videos of The Black Keys (“Howlin’ for You”). Making a film based on a true story is often hard work because you want to play the real people as accurately as possible. Ross Thomas knows exactly what this is like and spent a lot of time with the real Hamilton family for his role in the upcoming Soul Surfer, based on Bethany Hamilton's inspiring story.
Hamilton lost her arm in a shark accident and courageously got back into surfing, beating all odds.
Ross plays Bethany's brother Noah Hamilton in the film and took time to talk to Reel Movie News about his experiences filming the movie.
He told us he took this role very seriously, even interviewing the real Noah on camera before filming.
"We as people have so much in common that I was able to pretty much get inside of his character and understand him from when I first met him," he said of the real Noah Hamilton.

A few months ago I, like other movie bloggers, saw a trailer for Duncan Jones’ follow up film Source Code. When I first saw it, I thought it looked like an interesting follow up to Jones’ film Moon, which I loved. As I viewed the trailer a couple more times, I felt like I had seen or heard about this story before – which is kind of ironic considering the story. We all know that scripts evolve over time and especially if a script is purchased by Hollywood or a studio. Beyond the break, I figured out why this story was familiar….I read the script years ago and now, you can read it.

Back in 2004, I remember picking up my first Rue Morgue Magazine. A year later, I was taking my first international trip, alone, to Toronto for Rue Morgue’s Festival of Fear. After Rodrigo Gudino stepped away from the Editor-In-Chief throne, Jovanka Vuckovic took over and ran the magazine to one of its most successful runs in the magazine’s history. After leaving in 2009, she has given birth to a hellspawn…ok, just a daughter…and is in the process of directing a short film called The Captured Bird. Oh, and she decided with all that free time (sarcasm), that she would go and write a book about a horror fan’s favorite undead friend…..zoommmmmbbbbbiieeeeessss.
