Getting Lucky, 22 NOVEMBER 2009

Author: wesconnorsehny from Earth
Written and directed by C. Jay Cox, this nicely done, but predictable short film was included as a bonus feature with the September, 7, 2004 DVD release of his "Latter Days" (2003). "This is a true story," it explains, about a blind date mix-up. It documents the director's thirteenth reason for disliking blind dates. On a dry rainy night, Stan Kirsch (as Michael) goes to meet cute Carolann DiPirro (as Linda). The evening turns horrific when he is greeted by bondage master Mark Burnham (as Slade), who his waiting for punishment-minded slave-boy Stephen Heath. Two scenes in Cox' "Latter Days" recall this short - in Cox' feature-length drama, this material is used to both introduce (in the opening) and dispense with (later, in the film) the character Christian (Wes Ramsey)'s promiscuity.
