Amazon Prime Video has ordered a series adaptation of the Michelle Frances novel “The Girlfriend” with Robin Wright set to star and direct, Variety has learned.
In addition, Olivia Cooke, Laurie Davidson (“Mary and George”), and Waleed Zuaiter (“Gangs of London”) will star alongside Wright.
The official description of the series states: “Laura (Wright) wants for nothing. She has a glittering career, a loving husband, Howard (Zuaiter), and, above all, she has Daniel (Davidson), her precious only son. But Laura’s seemingly perfect life is blown apart when Daniel brings home Cherry (Cooke), the girlfriend who changes everything. After an uncomfortable first meeting, Laura grows convinced that Cherry isn’t who she says she is. While no one else can see what she sees, Laura refuses to stand by and watch Daniel be deceived. Chris Pine, Cynthia Erivo, Kieran Culkin, Sharon Stone and Rosie Perez celebrated Jeff Bridges’ seven-decade career at the 49th annual Chaplin Awards Gala in New York City on Monday night. But the Big Lebowski star almost chose a different career path.
During his acceptance speech for the Film at Lincoln Center‘s prestigious honor, the True Grit star shared that he originally “resisted” the idea of pursuing acting full-time for a few different reasons.
“It made me nervous, anxious, and I had other things I wanted to do,” he told the full auditorium at Alice Tully Hall. “I was very much into music. I loved ceramics, painting, and who wants to do what their parents do anyway?”
He recalled his father, actor Lloyd Bridges, explaining to him that he could do all of those things in this career path and use them all to some degree, which was one of the beauties of the job.

Similar to many other Hollywood biggies, Chris Pine too comes from an acting background, whose parents were once associated with the showbiz. But while they did enjoy modest success, especially his dad, Robert Pine, it did little to change their life around financially, and the late ’80s would turn out to be the toughest period for the Pine family.
The Wonder Woman star, who has cemented himself as a major A-lister since rising to prominence in the late 2000s, recounted this dark period of his life, and how his parents combated the situation.

Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting more female-led superhero flicks to highlight the powerful women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a world where male superheroes predominate. However, recent reports have suggested that the future of such projects could very well be at risk, making fans frustrated and disappointed.
Teyonah Parris’ character Monica Rambeau would have had her own solo MCU series if Brie Larson’s The Marvels had not been met with such dismal critical reception. Although Monica Rambeau made a fleeting appearance in Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels (2023), the character made her official debut in Disney+’s WandaVision.

However, it’s been alleged that Marvel scrapped her solo project after the Larson-starrer flick underperformed at the box office, triggering an enraged discussion among viewers regarding the challenges faced by female-driven superhero flicks.

It's time for another Zack Snyder slow-motion extravaganza! Snyder's big sci-fi sequel "Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver" is now on Netflix, and the reactions ... well, they ain't great, folks. The first film, subtitled "A Child of Fire," didn't fare much better — it's currently sitting at 21% on Rotten Tomatoes. But what about Part Two? Sadly, it seems to be doing even worse than the original flick. As of this writing, "Rebel Moon – Part Two" has a terrible 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. And if you're thinking, "Well, that's just the critics! What are regular people saying about the movie?", you should also know that the film's audience score is a less-than-great 52%. In short, people don't seem to like what Snyder is offering here. Snyder has always had a tenuous relationship with critics, but this seems to be one of his worst-reviewed films to date. Even his cartoon owl movie has...

Back in 2023, Warner Bros. were gearing up for the release of one of the last movies to come out of the Dceu. The Flash, starring Ezra Miller in the lead, and directed by Andy Muschetti, had a lot hanging on its shoulders. The movie was supposed to be the vessel to reboot the Dceu to give way for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Dcu.
A still from The Flash (2023)
Though fans weren’t sold on Ezra Miller’s involvement after their various scandals came to light, the reviews coming from the who’s who of Hollywood had them holding on to hope. From Tom Cruise to Stephen King, many celebrities came in defense of the movie, lauding it as one of the best superhero movies ever made. Unfortunately, the movie’s reception was not what anyone had hoped, and The Flash ended up being one ofe the worst features from Dceu.

Renowned for her acting prowess, Angelina Jolie almost portrayed the historical figure Cleopatra in a film, which was ultimately canceled. Following the disastrous reception of Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s 1963 film, numerous filmmakers have expressed interest in bringing their vision of the Egyptian queen to the screen.

Brian Helgeland has been discussing his script for Sony’s aborted take on Cleopatra which was set to star Angelina Jolie…
Cleopatra is one of those iconic figures that Hollywood seems perpetually interested in bringing to the screen again, even if the vast majority of these projects never seem to get anywhere.
One of the other nearly-ran Cleopatra projects was set to feature Angelina Jolie back in 2011. Writer and director Brian Helgeland has been chatting about his time on the project as the first writer to get a crack at the script. According to the director of Payback and A Knight’s Tale, it would have included some surprising events, apparently rooted in history:
“I was the very first writer on Cleopatra when it was being developed for Angelina Jolie to star in, which was almost made,” Helgeland said in an interview with Inverse.

Updated, 12:50 Pm: Ishana Night Shyamalan’s debut film is on the move, again. And the new date is a familiar one. Two months after Warner Bros. shuffled The Watchers back by a week to the June 14-16 Fathers Day frame, the pic is headed back to its original June 7 date.
It’ll have some action-packed company that Friday, going against Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the long-gestating fourth film in the nearly 30-year-old franchise. Lionsgate’s The Crow remake also was set for June 7, but that pic flew away from the date about three weeks ago and now is set for August 23.
Warners Bros. is hoping to cater to a female audience with The Watchers.
Also opening wide on June 7 is Vertical Entertainment’s The Exorcism directed by Joshua John Miller.

Angelina Jolie’s scrapped “Cleopatra” movie was part romance epic and part “political thriller with assassinations and sex,” according to the movie’s original screenwriter Brian Helgeland. The Oscar-winning actor was set to play the Egyptian queen in a tentpole for Sony Pictures that once courted director David Fincher to helm. It never got off the ground.

Recently, the Corridor Crew YouTube channel added the 130th video to their 'VFX Artists React' series. The crew took a look at special effects from a few movies, including recent releases like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Wonder Woman 1984.
These CGI extravaganzas drew some criticisms from the team, while they were pleasantly surprised by the effects from different movie – one that is more than four decades old.
The Killer Car
In the 1983 film Christine, an awkward teenager named Arnie falls in love with a busted up 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine. Christine has a long and violent history – when a factory worker dropped cigarette ash on her, he was later found dead in the car. Since then, at least three other people have died in Christine.
As Arnie works to lovingly restore the car, his personality changes from a sweet and bumbling nerd to a rebellious and arrogant bad boy.

Long live Queen Cleopatra, even if her film adaptations have been plagued for more than half a century.

Pedro Pascal did not become the name that he is today immediately after entering the Hollywood industry. It took him a long time and a great amount of patience. While skill was everpresent, recognition wasn’t. He made his name with effort seeping through every scene. Now he stands as Joel, the Mandalorian, and Javier all at the same time.

Superman has always been the most hopeful and powerful hero, whether it is about DC, or Marvel. With the many adaptations of the Kryptonian hero, some get regarded as masterpieces while others die before they can even reach the surface. Roman Gabriel, who still holds the Los Angeles Rams team record with 154 touchdown passes, died Saturday at his home in Little River, South Carolina, at 83. His death came from natural causes, according to his son, Roman Gabriel III.
Gabriel was the No. 2 draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 1962 out of North Carolina State. He was the first Filipino-American quarterback in the NFL and the league Mvp in 1969.
He played in four Pro Bowl games, three with the Rams in the late 1960s and another with the Eagles in 1973. But he reached the postseason only twice, and his Rams were eliminated in the first round both times.

It seems like part of the grunt work includes answering for the past projects of the Dcu (then the Dceu). The filmmaker was recently asked by a fan about the Green Lantern TV show for HBO Max that was in development starring American Horror Story’s Finn Wittrock. The Alien franchise is set to continue on the small screen with an “FX on Hulu” TV series from Fargo creator Noah Hawley, a show that began filming last year, then had to halt production after a month due to the actors strike. It’s been a few months since we’ve heard any news about this project, as director Fede Alvarez’s film Alien: Romulus (which is set to reach theatres on August 16th) has been getting all of the attention, but now Deadline has confirmed that filming has resumed in Thailand – and Sandra Yi Sencindiver of Foundation has joined the cast to play “a senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation” in multiple episodes. “We hear there’s scope for the character to grow in future seasons.”

While Henry Cavill defined Superman for a decade, he has now moved on from the franchise and has been working on new projects. The actor was last seen in Matthew Vaughn’s spy comedy Argylle and is set to feature in the historical action comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The actor is also working on a Highlander reboot.
During the premiere of the Guy Ritchie directorial, Henry Cavill reportedly made fun of his unlucky streak as Superman. While talking about his collaborations with Ritchie, he mentioned his alleged post-credits scene in the director’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. He also took a dig at his appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam while doing so.

Henry Cavill may not be reprising his role as the Man of Steel anytime soon, but fans don’t need to burst into tears for him. The Hollywood Reporter discovered that the actor was paid a whopping $250,000 ‘each’ for his brief appearances in Black Adam and The Flash.
Yes, that’s what it is—a quarter of a million dollars for just a few minutes of screen time. Not bad for a day’s work, right? While some may feel sorry for Cavill for not getting the chance to star in James Gunn’s 2025 Superman release, it’s abundantly clear that the actor isn’t hurting for cash. Also, compared to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, the Immortals actor received a higher salary for his brief cameos in other DC flicks.

Cavill was a hot commodity at Warner Bros. Pictures before Gunn and Safran were named co-CEOs of DC Studios.

Zack Snyder’s vision for the Dceu was regarded as legendary. His storytelling, cinematography, and design methods were excellent, and he understood the characters he was portraying perfectly well. Even though he has walked away from the franchise, these are facts that no one can take away from him.
Gal Gadot in and as Wonder Woman
While working with DC Studios, he was a part of many projects, even a few that were never released. In an older post, the filmmaker revealed the concept art for a third Wonder Woman movie that never happened; Wonder Woman 1854. During a recent interview, he was asked about the same, and he revealed the theme that the movie would have followed.

The rave and unhinged obsession of people regarding their favorite film or TV show is something that is unfortunately well-documented, which can often times lead to some seriously disturbing circumstances. This time, that situation was caused by none other than haters of filmmaker Zack Snyder and his vision of the Dceu dubbed ‘The Snyderverse’.

The Fantastic Four are called Marvel’s First Family because, well, they actually are. Back in 1961, the company formerly known as Timely Comics transitioned into Marvel Comics. They kept some of their titles, such as Journey Into Mystery, but began a new approach to superhero comics with The Fantastic Four. These new titles would show the internal drama between the characters and not just their superheroics. After these characters became a big hit, the company created other heroes such as The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, and Iron Man.
Fox would end up with the movie rights to bring these characters to the big screen but ultimately would produce content that really didn’t live up to what the comics promised. After four attempts (ironic), the rights have finally reverted back to Marvel Studios through Disney’s purchase of Twentieth Century Studios. Now that the MCU is around, fans are interested in...

Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released in 2021, giving fans another look into the director’s unique vision for the Dceu. While fans thought there was a solid chance for an entire Justice League saga directed by Zack Snyder, nothing of the sort happened. Zack Snyder left, James Gunn and Peter Safran became in-charge, and the superhero universe was rebooted.

Despite all the facts, fans are still holding onto a thin thread of hope that Zack Snyder will return and finish what he started. However, as things stand right now, coming to the Dcu is not the filmmaker’s priority. Although, there is one way he might reconsider his decision and this might even allow Ben Affleck and others to return to their respective superhero roles.

Director Zack Snyder has made some of the most polarizing films recently and his work in the Dceu has been extremely tumultuous. Snyder’s take on iconic comic book characters such as Batman and Superman was largely divisive and controversial, especially due to their deviation from their comic book counterparts’ value system.

Zack Snyder’s Dceu didn’t do well because it was too dark and the stories didn’t always make sense. People didn’t always like his choices. Eventually, James Gunn and Peter Safran took over with their Dcu. Some people liked Snyder’s style, but others thought it was too bleak and not true to the characters. Even though most people think the Dceu wasn’t great, it did bring out some really popular superhero movies lately.
One of the big hits was “Wonder Woman.” It did really well and showed there could be more stories about her in the Dceu. Then came the sequel, which came out during Covid-19 and did okay, but not as good as the first one.

Zack Snyder’s Dceu failed due to its darker tone, inconsistent storytelling, and divisive creative choices until it was ultimately replaced by Gunn’s & Safran’s Dcu. While some appreciated his vision, others found it too grim and disconnected from the iconic characters. Still, despite Dceu being mostly bad, according to general consensus it did give rise to some of the most popular superhero movies in the last few years.
Notably, ‘Wonder Woman,’ was a massive hit and opened a lot of possibilities for the character in the Dceu, soon after, the sequel followed, and released during Covid-19 it still managed to be somewhat successful but nowhere near the first installment.
Still, Snyder originally had very different plans for the ‘Wonder Woman’ movie, in a project dubbed ‘Wonder Woman 1854.’ In an interview with Empire Magazine to promote his upcoming film, ‘Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scavenger,’ the director also opened...

Henry Cavill Pokes Fun at His Controversial Justice League Mustache - Main Image
Henry Cavill recently joked about his controversial mustache when he played Superman in the 2017 theatrical version of Justice League.
During the reshoots under the direction of Joss Whedon, Cavill filmed his scenes as the Man of Steel with a mustache as he was also working on Mission: Impossible - Fallout during that time.
Through the use of CGI, the mustache was removed from Cavill's face in the film. However, fans found the final results to be laughable as the VFX work looked too obvious and it became the subject of ridicule ever since.

Clint Eastwood has been the inspiration behind many things, but to think he was the inspiration behind Wonder Woman is pretty wild to consider. When director Jeff Wamester was tasked with putting the iconic trio of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman into interesting new backdrops and environments, he knew precisely how to handle Wonder Woman.
Thus, he birthed a “Clintina Eastwood.” In the latest installment of the dynamic DC animated Tomorrowverse, titled Justice League: Warworld, viewers can explore these legendary superheroes in a never-before-seen way.

While Superhero-fatigue was not at its peak, several movies from both superhero brands— Marvel and DC Studios, enjoyed the heydays at the box office. Amid that, stand-alone female-led movies have also seen astonishing success.

The first Wonder Woman movie found Diana Prince fighting in World War I, but the original idea would have found the Amazonian fighting in a much earlier conflict: The Crimean War of the 1800s. Zack Snyder previously shared an image from that possible project, known as Wonder Woman 1854, but the director recently spilled more details while speaking with Empire.
The Wonder Woman 1854 image Snyder shared over three years ago was rather brutal, showcasing Diana surrounded by various soldiers and holding three severed heads. “The idea of that was an early riff we were doing: once Wonder Woman left the island in search of Ares, what happened to her in her different incarnations?” Snyder said. “My idea for it was that she would travel around the world looking for Ares and she would go to every place where there was conflict.“

Movie studios are not known for playing nicely with their competitors. In 2019, most entertainment companies pulled up their drawbridges and hoarded their crown jewels of intellectual property. Batman movies are owned by Warner Bros., so they belonged to then-HBO Max. Paramount owns the Star Trek franchise, so they made a home at Paramount+. The pattern continued across the industry.
But now, something curious is happening. Some of the most closely guarded franchises are moving to unexpected places.
When you watch “The Godfather” and its 1974 sequel, the Paramount logo appears. While the films are still on Paramount+, you can also find them on Apple TV+ and Peacock.
If you’re in the mood for a Tom Cruise “Mission: Impossible” movie, they are all on Paramount+ as they should be, but some titles are on Peacock, one is on Apple TV+, and one is on MGM+.
Warner Bros. loves its superhero franchises.

Conor McGregor vs. Dwayne Johnson: Who Cashed the Bigger Check?
Did Conor McGregor really set a world record with his Road House payday? That’s what the onetime UFC superstar has been bragging about in recent weeks, claiming he’s now “the highest paid first-time actor of all time.” If true — and McGregor, 35, hasn’t disclosed how much he got for his debut role in Amazon’s reboot of the 1989 kickboxing flick — he would beat Dwayne Johnson’s record of $5.5 million for 2002’s Scorpion King. While some have scoffed at his claim, sources indicate he was indeed paid in that ballpark, and given the Irishman’s stature in the martial arts world and the offers he has turned down (he accepted a role opposite Vin Diesel in 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, only to back out before filming began) it wouldn’t be surprising if some sort of record was broken.

Throughout the course of the Dceu, we saw Wonder Woman in a variety of environments – in her native home of Themiscyra with the Amazons; fighting through the battlefields of World War I with Steve Trevor; living in 1980s USA in Wonder Woman 1984; and battling alongside Batman and Superman in the present-day in Justice League. But, once upon a time, there was an idea to present a different kind of early Wonder Woman story – one that would have seen her fighting in the Crimean War in the 1800s. All that came of the possible project – dubbed ‘Wonder Woman 1854’ – was an image that Snyder shared on social media, with Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince surrounded by soldiers and… er, holding three severed heads.
In Empire’s major new interview with Snyder – in The Acolyte issue – we posed him your reader questions. And among them came up the topic of Wonder Woman 1854, and what it might have been.

He fills the position left by Andrew Gumpert, who exited Paramount in February 2023. These days, actress Robin Wright is likely best known for her six seasons as Claire Underwood on “House of Cards.” Her character’s trajectory on Netflix’s often-rancid take on underhanded politics saw her ending up becoming the 47th President of the United States after co-star Kevin Spacey was forced to leave the show due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Wright collected six Emmy nominations as Best Drama Actresss and two for being an executive producer on the show. Wright also earned directorial stripes while calling the shots behind the camera for 10 episodes as well.
That experience led her to make her directorial film debut with “Land,” in which she played Edee, a woman filled with suicidal thoughts after suffering a tragic personal loss. She decides to go off the grid while moving into a grungy cabin in amongst the scenic mountains of Wyoming. Her attempts to chop wood, hunt...

After a very poor launch the new Rocksteady title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, confirmed that it will keep releasing content. The first season is already live, with The Joker as a new playable character. The new season introduces additional elements to the game, such as the ability to explore Elseworlds, which are parallel universes within DC Comics.
According to some rumors and insiders, in season four of the game, Batman will be a playable character who comes from a medieval Elseworld. And Kevin Conroy apparently recorded dialog for the storyline before passing away in 2022.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will bring back Batman in future seasons The Dark Knight will be returning to the Rocksteady title.
As with all live-service games that have a poor launch, the key to survival is having a good player base to receive the content.
Rocksteady Games seemingly prepared for the potential failure of the title,...
