Awesome little animated short!
heath-1719 June 2005
Really dug this anime-style cartoon! Not too bad for a first-time effort from director Taddeo. And, as a long time Iron Man the Marvel Comic character, I enjoyed the additional designs by legendary artist Bob Layton! Taddeo introduces a young guy who is made fun of for being a little poor. Kid can't even afford a Halloween costume, so he's taunted constantly.

Meanwhile, a corrupt agent decides to steal an alien armor, only to discover a small problem. His loss is our young hero's gain as a new super guy is born: ZOOM SUIT! I look forward to further animated adventures!

Superb little piece
rupeshtailor1 September 2005
This little piece of artwork nearly completely passed me by!! I was totally surprised by the great story line and the excellent animation used. I mus say that i have never heard of the comic or the characters... or even the writer, but i'll be looking out for more stuff in the future....

I will definitely be looking out for issues of comic on which this wonderful little piece is based on. A story of adventure and wanting to belong.... this is the stuff every comic reader and fan wants. The animation reminded me of all the brilliant artwork i saw from reading the recent Battle of the planets comics, and i would love to see an ongoing series of this...

I'm off now to go watch it again..... A big thanks to the creators!!

Entertaining little short...
guirunkaryyk20 August 2005
What first drew me to the Zoom Suit was it's numerous connections to Marvel's Iron Man. Now that I have a feel for the character, there is some of that, but it's woven its own storyline with a main character that is a whole lot less sure of himself, apt to make mistakes & lose confidence. Iron Man was cool and collected, always seemingly in control, Zoom Suit offers someone a little more like the rest of us...

The short is a bit rough around the edges, and the stylized visuals seem a bit irregular, jerky, but it's not bad (the prerendered bit at the end was quite nice though). This is early, and the finished product promises to be something to get excited about, especially if they keep drawing from talents like Gene Colan and Bob Layton.

Wow, a short movie for a comic intro
calmestica23 October 2005
This is this first time I have seen a short movie that intro's a comic book. With multi media as it is this is a great idea. I wish others would follow in these guys footsteps. I like the feel that it gave about Rosewell and the whole Alien issue and how time flies and you see different time periods, but still show alien images in background. I like the government with in the government where this guy with glass feel compelled to kill one of the guards and jump feeling that the suit will fit. Curios on the guy in the white coat. Who is he? Looking forward to the first issue. If it is anything like this short feature I am sure that they will have a hit on their hands. You have to feel the pain for the boy. There are some of us who have gone through that scenario. I think this kid is not ready for what is to come for him, but we will read on and find out.

Pretty sucky
ChesterBlack13 September 2005
I don' know if all the people who commented and voted here were friends of the guy who made this, or if they're all actually him, but this isn't NEARLY as good as the comments claim. The animation's okay for Avid stuff, and the directing and editing are pretty good. But it's just a color animatic with TERRIBLE artwork. I mean, like, high school art project artwork. Either it's trying to Anime-inspired, or graffiti-inspired or something, but that kid has got to be the UGLIEST character I've ever seen - he looks like a Gremlin that got turned inside-out or something. Anyway, it's not bad for an animated storyboard, but it's not "animation" by any stretch of the imagination.

It's too bad that someone with some artistic talent didn't devote as much time and money to this as this guy obviously did. It would have at least looked cool for cheapo web animation.

Good Stuff
tmunugh28 July 2005
I thought the traditional style animation was great, its very much in the style of anime.I don't care much for the computer generated style of animation, but the switch to it at the end wasn't all the bad. I like the look of the suit and look forward to seeing its capabilities. Looks likes its gonna be and interesting and enjoyable story. I just got done reading a comic book called, "Armor-X," which has a similar plot, albeit more mature then "Zoom Suit." I'm a fan of superhero comics and movies from way back, so I'm always looking for new content. I think fans of books like "Zoom's Academy," and "Ps 238," will enjoy "Zoom Suit."

Incredible Animation Leaves You Wanting MORE!
beautyfilms20 June 2005
I recently saw Zoom Suit previewed during the Palm Beach International Film Festival in April 2005. I've had the pleasure of working on several independent films with the extremely talented director, John Taddeo. This project is one of his top film creations, staffed by a team of visionary artists. The animation is unreal, bringing the comic book characters to life. John Taddeo is the creative genius behind the concept and direction of the film. His experience in storyboard creation and independent film-making is visible throughout every shot. Every scene was extremely artistic, paying close attention to the smallest of details. The sound effects were ear popping and set quake-like vibrations throughout the theater. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Taddeo has in store for Zoom 2!

Zoom Suit Rules!
skyfisher-120 June 2005
This is one of the coolest animations I have seen in a long time. The graphics are top notch and the story is really entertaining. The suit is really awesome looking, kind of like Japanese anime. It's clear that the artists doing this are some of the top in the industry. As a long time comic book fan, it is really cool to see one brought to life in such a great way. It's a classic story of the underdog kid who falls into a unexpected windfall. I love seeing a new superhero being born! This has the potential to be something big, as their is a whole world of possibilities with a story concept like this. I can't wait to see the next episode! Keep them coming SUPERVERSE!

zoom suit shows potential
jack-6222 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Zoom suit is a new film about a young boy who finds a magic space suit. It is an animated film with vibrant colours. The film shows the alienation of a young boy in a simple but effective way. With his new suit he can fit in with the rest of the kids around him but it is not that easy. The opening sequence shows great potential and the music complements the film well. The storyline is easy to follow and should appeal to the age group it represents on the screen. If handled properly it could be very good but it must be careful not to become just another copycat feature. It will be interesting to see where the film makers take us with this. It may not appeal to older viewers but as the films slogan says, If the suit fits, wear it. Good luck to the makers of the film and i will watch out for the finished product.

Great Short
mstoffer8 September 2005
I have never been an avid comic books reader, but I love sci-fi and all forms of animation, and this is a great piece. Based on this short, I'd be interested in seeing more from this studio. Either shorts or a full-length feature. The story and animation are both very good. I especially like the fact that they rendered this in a widescreen format, even though the "preferred" viewing method for something of this nature (i.e. web page) is going to be the screen sitting on your desktop. This would sort of indicate that they are exploring the wider format for composition purposes in order to prepare for some other type of release - whether that is a feature or DVD that can take advantage of the growing popularity of wide-screen TV sets is yet to be seen.

Good for fans of anime
Sockpuppets19 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I saw this flick at San Diego Comic Con 2005 and loved it. The movie had a comic book look and feel that I appreciated. It is very good short for fans of the 'battle suit' anime like Mobile Suit Gundam. The art was well done: the facial features of the characters are well done as are the backgrounds. The attention to detail in the animation is very good, you can see the detail of frayed holes in the main character's jeans and the strands of his hair. As for the plot, they packed a lot into a short amount of time. In the 10 minute run time, you will see crashed UFOs, a young boy's discovery of a battle suit, relentless FBI agents, and a little childhood romance. I highly recommend this short!

Zom Suit good fun for all
ronbothegreat8 August 2005
We saw it at this years San Diego Comicon, and loved it. My daughter was asking for me to get her a zoom suit the rest of the con. The animation style was alright, but seemed a bit choppy in parts. Hopefully some more effective editing will help that. The story wasn't completely original, but the plot twists and humor made up for that. I'm not sure who or how they will be distributing the film, but everyone should at least try and get it on DVD eventually. It would be nice to see some DVD extras such as how they created the characters, and the whole getting the film released process, as they seemed to be having some difficulty finding distributors at the con, and I think that aspect would make some interesting storytelling for future filmmakers.

Interesting Newbie on the Block
starwolf10011 August 2005
it looks like John Taddeo has something that we should take a look at. With great talents like Bart Sears and Bob Layton to lend a hand, i couldn't take my eyes of it.

Who of us hasn't wanted to go on an adventure, only to have an agency come looking for you to take over something that just fell into our laps (ok, maybe that's just me), but maybe you should check out what our new hero does.

it may not be for everybody, but for me, i'll look forward to any new developments that come out of this new project and try to get as many people as i can to give it a look as well.

Thumbs WAY up!
PghPA2210 August 2005
I finally got a chance to see this. I highly recommend it! I'm sure those of you who enjoy animation will enjoy this. I got to see more details at Wizard World Chicago. It's what got me interested in seeing this and it was worth it. So take the time to see this. I'm sure you'll be glad you did. Don't forget to check out more information at www.superverse.com. It's a pretty cool site where you can get more details about the movie and other items. There are even Limited Edition Trading Cards available. There are only 1,000 numbered sets and some of the big names in illustrators have contributed. I mean, how can you go wrong when even comic legend Gene Colan has a part in it?

Makes me feel young again!
joey-2138 September 2005
I saw the trailer of this flick and thought it was spectacular! The references to real history, politics and reality I thought was a great touch. The graphics and animation were awesome, cutting edge, but at the same time had a lot of old school appeal. The soundtrack was right on and was really flowed with the visuals. I guess this is every kids dream day to have such technology fall out of the sky. I have not seen the full film yet but most definitely plan to when it becomes possible. A friend of mine turned me on to the movie and this web site to check out the preview and I am really glad he did. I would recommend this movie from what I saw to folks of all ages as it seems to be headed in the right direction. Thanks much for the opportunity to view! Joey

Check this one out !
mistermycroft2 August 2005
If you are a comic book or sci-fi fan, definitely check out this cartoon which was shown at the recent San Diego Comic Con, where I first saw it. The short features great artwork by Bob Layton, of Iron Man and X-O Manowar fame, as well as Gene Colan and Bart Sears. All of them are highly respected professionals who have been in the comic industry since the 1960/70s, so you know you are in for a treat. The animation is far superior to other cartoons of the genre and the story is both original and exciting. Hopefully this will be turned into a series, or at the very least, sequels will be made. I have recommended this to all of my comic book collecting friends. Four stars. Two thumbs way up!

Zoom Suit
todd-gray29 December 2005
While the dialog was a little weak, the action sequences more than made up for what was lacking. All in all this was a fun little web-animated film. The animation is inspired from the comics artwork of Bob Layton on Iron Man and is a nice blend of traditional American style comics art and manga influenced anime. Despite the lackluster dialog, there are a few genuinely funny moments. One concerning a farmer and a liquor bottle and the other involving a free-fall from an airborne helicopter. All in all, I'm looking forward to goofing off while at work and watching the rest of the story unfold on the website: www.superverse.com

Really liked it...
kenbenz12 October 2005
Was just how an animated comic book should look. Was drawn by hand, much like some of the older animated films. A refreshing change from the current computer animations that attempt to look as lifelike as possible.

The storyline has unlimited potential. Couls create a series that would last for quite a while.

Only downside was a scene with some pretty graphic violence, which made it inappropriate for my younger children. If they were able to tone down that one scene a little (which wouldn't impact the storyline), it could pick up a wider audience.

Excellent animation
a-b-blackburn14 October 2005
I was drawn to this film by the previous work of the artists involved in the project, in particular Bob Layton.

A short suitable for most age groups, although there is some violence so it's not for the very young.

This is a well produced piece with hints of what's been before but with a style of its own.

A well written story that develops nicely and has lots of potential for future development.

This short serves as a good introduction to the comic series, I will definitely be checking out the comic when it is published. Hopefully they might produce some more animation as well.

Check out the superverse website for more info on the comic.

Excellent, thanks.

Strong action sequences
DruWilliams16 September 2005
I am a big fan of Villains and this short seems to have the makings of a good one. The animation of his aerial stunts were very well thought out and executed. I enjoy the villains for the simple fact that it is their strength and maniacal pursuit that ultimately defines the hero. You cannot have a strong villain and a weak hero (not in the physical sense). Being also a fan of comics, animation and conspiracy theories this is right up my alley.

The team that has been assembled for AE: "Zoom Suit" projects contain many of my comic industry favorites. I may have to break my - no purchasing variant covers - rule. Good work looking forward to more in the future.

A comic actually geared toward kids!
bpettis-12 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
David Taddeo's "Zoom Suit" is a very interesting new project. It features a deceptively simple premise, that grows more intriguing with each passing minute.

I liked the animation a lot. At first it seemed somewhat simplistic, but as things progressed, it seemed to take on additional texture and, in so doing, reflected a welcome level of spirit and soul. The color scheme is very primary, but that works well for this adventure.

The story is classic material for a kid's dreams (both big kids and little). At first I was wondering which way it was headed, but I was soon engrossed. It really grows on you! The basic plot revolves around a "little guy", dismissed by his peers, who gets a chance to be a warrior when he finds the Zoom Suit. Who can't identify with that? It will be interesting to see this project develop. I look forward to more of Mr. Taddeo's intriguing work. As it is now, it's definitely worth a look! Zooooooooom!!!!

Not to be missed
G6ADC2 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This short animated film from David Taddeo shows promise of being a great anime series.

The story involves a special armoured suit from a crashed spaceship in Roswell. Later in the future it falls into the hands of a young boy who finds out it's not just a Halloween suit.

What I have heard that this was not to be missed and I was not disappointed. The techno soundtrack and sound effects running in the background complements the storyboard and "unreal" artwork.

I can't wait to see the animated feature and I hope they will produce quality like this.

reminiscent of Ralph Bakshi's artistry.
mztress6 August 2005
very well done animation short. It was reminiscent of Ralph Bakshi's artistry. The storyline was easy to follow. Story line seems geared towards children, but I still found it entertaining and not "childish".I also liked the music. Zoom Suit is about an alien suit that is found in A crash in 1947 in Roswell New Mexico, then lost during a Military exercise. Switch to present day and a twelve year old named Myles who thinks he's found a Halloween costume. I'd be interested in future projects by David Taddeo, especially if they were more adult oriented. By that I mean, if the story line is geared for adults, not children. I'm going to look for the comic book as well.

Worth a look!
geerts18 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
This is one of the neatest animations I have seen in a quite a while. The graphics are great and the story is really entertaining.

I've always liked animation like this, kind of old school.

They've come up with an interesting story line that really lends itself well to being brought to life this way.

It's about a kid who finds a space suit and is then on his way to becoming a new super hero.

It will be interesting to see where they take the story from here.

I am definitely gonna keep a watch for more from John Taddeo and all the others that were involved with this production.

Innovative and fun
d-donovan2 August 2005
I was very surprised by this short comic film. I had never heard of the comic, but seeing this short, I think I will pick up an issue and check it out. Very interesting plot line, reminiscent of the X-Files a little. Animation itself reminds me of old style anime (Battle of the Planets, Starblazers) and I could see this being made into a series much like they were. I will definitely be checking out future shorts or trailers. The producers are definitely onto something here, especially if they are trying to draw in 30 somethings with fond memories of 80s anime. If you have 15 minutes to kill, take the time and see this short. I would bet that the producers would love to hear your comments here, positive or negative. I think I will be checking out the comic now as well. Good luck to Superverse and Assassination.
