Beautifully shot and acted. This film stars Will Oldham A.K.A. Bonnie Prince Billy before he was known as Bonnie Prince. Like the prolific body of music that Oldham gone on to write this film has a brooding passionate honesty that says things often go horribly wrong -- but life is nevertheless beautiful. There is a starkness to the film that reflects the day to day hard working life on the farms of East Texas. The tension builds throughout the film to a shocking ending. Based upon a true story of love, honor, social stratification and vengeance. Relationships are woven together and then torn apart. I like this film very much.
