Director Taron Lexton was 19 years old when he completed principal photography. He filmed in 13 countries over three months in 2004.
There are a number of celebrity cameos during the paper airplane/news anchor sequence, including Isaac Hayes (watching TV), Jenna Elfman (watching TV), Catherine Bell (receiving a paper airplane), Erika Christensen (watching TV), and Lynsey Bartilson (receiving a paper airplane).
Shot entirely on Panasonic digital camcorders.
Contrary to popular belief, there are no special effects or "green screen" shots in the film. Every single shot, including all the international scenes in the paper airplane sequence, were shot by Lexton himself.
A "What Are Human Rights?" booklet is featured for a split-second in the film (during the news anchor sequence). The booklet was the first educational tool produced by Youth for Human Rights International. This movie was the second.
