Soulful Performance by So Ji Sub
Multipleh16 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
A soulful performance by the lead actor So Ji Sub makes this series worth watching. This could have been your average Korean melodrama however, the sincere, soulful and heartfelt performance by So Ji Sub elevates this melodrama to the highest degree. "Sorry, I Love You" is a journey of a young man who transforms from a minor vengeful petty thief into a decent caring human being. So Ji Sub's transformation throughout the series is quite remarkable, he displays great sadness and longing for love and acceptance. Lim Su-jeong who plays the unlikely love interest also gives a tender and genuine performance.

Overall, the series has a rather karmic and dark message about "whatever comes around goes around". Su-jeong's father ends up suffering the most for giving up the twin babies and keeping the secret from the lead character's mother. It's not your average K-Drama the message of the drama is at the very end of the series. Great story writing and great acting by So Ji Sub makes this series one of the best K-Dramas. It's definitely worth watching.

The best drama ever
sentimento930 April 2011
I'm Sorry I Love You (Misa doesn't revolve around the typical stereotypes in Korean dramas. The storyline is unique and the acting by the two main leads are nothing short of outstanding. It focuses on a mother's love for her child and how human beings are inevitably, soft-hearted creatures.

This Drama originally planned to be screened only for 16 episodes, the netizens of Korea demanded an extension and KBS complied by asking the drama's directors and producers to extend by another 4 episodes. However, the makers of the drama refused and said they couldn't and quite frankly, I'm happy they did. In fact, the drama was so popular that KBS even issued a second OST album for it due to overwhelming response. Not to mention that the last two episodes were so sad, that even the makers of the drama couldn't help but cry when the scenes were played out I don't have the vocabulary to describe So Ji Sup's performance in 'Misa'. I had watched him in 'Memories of Bali' and always knew that he was good. But this time he really outdid all of us.So Ji Sup is just perfect for Cha Moo Hyuk With comparisons to her co-star, I loved Im Soo Jung from top to bottom. She was very much what her character required to portray: A simple-minded girl without her own dreams. In the beginning, Eun Chae desired whatever Choi Yoon desired, because Choi Yoon was the epitome of her life. But once she got to know Moo Hyuk, that changed forever. "I'm Sorry I Love You" has a deeper meaning throughout the normal K-dramas we see about love. It dwells more on the humanity of a person

Excellent

"Sorry, I Love You"is usually be called MISA for short in Korean. It is the best Korea drama I ever seen. Korea drama is usually sad, but most of them are not sadder than this. The chief actor's acting is impressive. I think Ji-seob So did good a job. Cha Mu-hyeok must be one of the most miserable roles in Korea drama. The chief actress is Su-jeong Lim. I have watched "A Tale of two sisters" before, her performance is perfect in that film, but I love "Song Eun-chae" more. She is so lovely in MISA.

The fans in MISA are called "MISA disabled person". It means they lost their life instinct and just watch this drama without doing anything. "I think I have become one of them.

Man, this drama is awesome!...
akakeby15 May 2006
This drama was awesome because of many reasons. First of all the scenery was winter which made it perfect for the characters to dress fashionably. The characters were also really cool. I liked the way the characters were all very extreme, and that there were no boring characters. You either liked the character in the drama or you hated their guts. The music (noon ae kouth "snow flower") in this drama is awesome too.

In addition, this series is not too long (16 episodes), so you could watch it in just one day. The drama is good from the start, but there was one part that I did not like, which was the episodes 11 and 12. But the ending of episode 12... !!! but the ending of episode 12 really gets you back into the series. Another thing that I did not like about the series was that in about 2 scenes the microphone can be seen. However, this drama is truly still the best I have ever scene and I have shown this drama to my family and friends, and none have not liked it. Man I cant describe why this series was so great, but one thing I do know is that everybody should watch this drama. It will probably change the way your live and think forever. All the winters will remind you of this drama... No winter will ever be the same...

The Reformation of a Petty Gangster
overseer-36 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I'm Sorry, I Love You (2004) was a 16 episode, huge television hit series made by Koreans, but popular all throughout the Asian world.

Slightly soap-opera-ish in nature, it is an extremely addictive show because it develops its plot lines slowly and you really begin to care about the characters. The leads are all very attractive people (especially the awesome and incredibly handsome Ji-seob So as Mu-hyeok and the little dynamo Su-jeong Im, who was great in the Korean hit film A Tale Of Two Sisters), and their acting is realistic and evocatively emotional, and often funny as well. The music is beautiful too and the production values are excellent. It was filmed in Australia and Korea.

It's the story of a petty gangster, Mu-hyeok - a street hustler growing up homeless in Australia, who is shot in the head at the wedding of a woman he loved. She was marrying a rich gangster for his money, yet Mu-hyeok, still deeply in love with her, risks his own life to save hers when an assassin shows up to kill the wedding couple.

The doctors cannot remove the bullet in Mu-hyeok's brain, and they give him only a few months to live. The woman he saved gives him a lot of money and tells him to return to his homeland of Korea to die. He goes and makes a search for his birth mother whom he believes gave him up for adoption because of financial hardship. When he finds her he is shocked to discover she is rich, has another son, and so he doesn't reveal to her his identity but instead plans his revenge on her.

Along the way he discovers he has a twin sister, and he falls in love with a gentle girl named Eunchae Song who works for his step-brother. Over time he begins a mellowing process. Will he cling to bitterness until the end of his life, or will he find the grace to forgive those he believed wronged him?

Many surprises are in store for the viewer during this series, right up to the last scenes. There is also some wonderful humor to relieve the dramatic tension. I really loved this show and everyone I have recommended it to has become as hooked as I was! It's just as addictive as those famous British - PBS series such as Upstairs, Downstairs or The Forsyte Saga or The Duchess of Duke Street! Except the stars are all Korean!

Now, there are several ways to buy this awesome series. You can order each episode off Amazon On Demand for $1.99 each, but the files have DRM copyright protection on them so you'll only be able to watch them on your computer. These are good quality files with excellent white subtitles in English.

Or you can buy a 9 disc box set from KBSDVD, which is out of print now but worth tracking down because it has the best images (though the subtitles are not as good as the Amazon video files).

Then there is another KBS release that is only 2 discs, but the images have been condensed to MPEG1 files instead of proper MPEG2 files, so I suggest you avoid this one. The yellow subtitles in this box-set are terrible in comparison to your other options. Ask the seller how many discs are in the set you wish to buy.

Yet another box-set with 7 DVDs is available in Korea, but you're not going to find that selling here in the States because it is Region 3.

However you track it down, don't miss it. It's literally the most addictive show I've watched in years and years. I love it! 10 stars out of 10.

Engrossing storyline, excellent acting, superb directing
Watcherette20 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Please notice the spoiler alert. You do not want to read this if you haven't seen this wonderful show.

As I have noticed in other Korean dramas, this one, too, attempts to tackle a social problem that arises in societies where kinship and social status based on family background are important. Here, too, we have fractured families with adopted, abandoned, widowed, or orphaned members. The only intact family is the one of the female lead (Song Eun-Chae, portrayed by the excellent Im Soo Jung), whose father bears the burden of holding the information that would have made the male lead (Cha Moo-Hyuk, played by the incredibly handsome So Ji-seob) stop hating his biological mother, and whose mother is a bitter shrew; so this family is outwardly intact, but inwardly fragmented. The search for family acceptance and love is paramount.

Moo-Hyuk is a lonely and homeless outcast who preys on hapless female Asian tourists in Australia; his only emotional anchor is another Korean who marries a rich Australian for his money. As explained in another review, Moo-Hyuk gets to see Korea to find his mother during his last few months of life. Through a series of rather implausible events, he does find his biological mother, but also finds out -- erroneously -- that she abandoned him and a twin sister at birth. Bent on revenge, he focuses on whom he presumes to be his half-brother, Yune. He insinuates himself into Yune's life, almost lets him drown, watches as Yune's stylist (Eun-Chae) gets beaten up, and seduces Yune's girlfriend, until Yune loses his cool, gets into a car wreck, and is found to have a defective heart.

When both Yune and Moo-Hyuk find out that they love the same girl, Eun-Chae, a terribly destructive struggle ensues that is centered on another Korean social value and thus problem: loyalty. Eun-Chae has grown up with Yune, has always been seen like a little sister by him, and is tied to him through her parents who work for Yune's mother, her own job working for Yune, and her secret crush on him. It is not until Moo-Hyuk intervenes that she realizes that she has choices in her life beyond those dictated by family ties and life history. It takes her a good amount of time, but after much agonizing, she finally chooses to be with Moo-Hyuk. He, however, cannot really set Eun-Chae free because he chooses not to let her come too close to him so that he can protect her from the certain heartbreak she would have to endure upon his impending death. Besides seeing So Ji-seob's and Im Soo Jung's superb acting, I enjoyed watching the character development of Yune (a supremely spoiled pop star), his mother (an egocentric woman clutching success), his former girlfriend (a nympho-manic starlet) and Eun-Chae's father (an unfailingly loyal chauffeur). All of them "grow up" by realizing their short-comings -- and it is through the homeless petty criminal Moo-Hyuk whose heart (!) was larger than theirs. Since Eun-Chae could not consummate her love with Moo-Hyuk, she commits suicide one year after his death, thus fulfilling her prophecy that they were not meant to be together in this life. I, too, grew from watching this story. My husband of two decades is here, not fatally injured, and we have sort of neglected each other's company. I better show him my love before we're in another world...

this is truly human
aninhamundim20 March 2023
It's honestly one of the most emotional and touching drama I've ever watched. The story is beyond just sadiness or drama, It's a lot about human feelings and real pains. I think I got to feel just everything I could and each piece of the story (which is revealed time by time) makes you go deep in though and get close to the characters feelings. I felt hopeless and happy in the same time in most of the parts but It was just so hard to go through the drama whitout wishing with all your will that they would get some little happy moments. I just can hardly express how much this story made me feel.

Second half drags - too dated and depressing
phd_travel8 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The story starts off different from other dramas with the adoption thing. So it's quite interesting at first. So Ji Sub is the right actor for the role. Not many actors can pull off the hippy look. But the last 5 episodes are so repetitive and draggy. A fatal flaw of the pre 2010 Korean dramas. They just stare or cry or shout their names over and over again. If someone either the driver earlier or him had just told the mother who they were there wouldn't need to be all this angst. Can't blame her she didn't know. Just skip to the last episode. And the girl is so irritating who could love her? Depressing dated story.

Melodrama at its finest
brigitte-johnson13 June 2020
This is one of my all-time favorite Korean dramas (along with Padam Padam; Rooftop Prince; Missing You; Crash Landing on You; One Spring Night; and Goblin). If you are engrossed by sweetly acted, sad shows with some mystery, can suspend some disbelief to swallow the intriguing story lines, and want to cleanse out those old tear ducts, you will enjoy this show! If you haven't seen the others yet and are here because you liked this one, find them and watch!

One of the greatest Korean TV series ever.
coco_la_nata21 October 2019
Have you ever listened to a TV series intro which would make you cry even the series ended 15 years ago? I can tell you that this TV series was shown in 2004 but its audiences would still wet their eyes in 2019 when the theme song "Snow Flake" started.

Yes, I agreed that too much tears, sickness, coincidence and amnesia happened in South Korean TV series and made you feel déjà vu. But this one was exceptional because it starred by So Ji Sub.

So Ji Sub was one of the top actors in South Korean and all his works would move you just by his eye sight, his body movement or his voice. His character in this TV series was natural born tragedy. Audiences would feel for him no matter he was good or bad. When he laughed, we laughed. When he cried, we cried. This TV series was unofficially voted as fans' all time favorite. Want a good cry? You come to the right place.

Take a chance to watch this TV series and you will not regret for the time spent on it.

Don't watch it if you don't want to cry!
baykusunnotlari4 December 2018
This series is full of cliches but still somehow it tells a very special and realistic story that finds a way to touch your heart and God... hurts it! The acting, chemistry between the leads and the soundtrack (snow flower) was all so good!

The story takes you in and before you know, you are feeling that broken heart pain! In the last episodes I cried like crazy. I even asked myself "Why the hell am I doing this to myself?" But I couldn't stop watching it.

This is my favorite drama series so far!
