This is either going to be really good or so bad, it’s great. But either way, ABC’s relaunch of Battle of the Network Stars (premiering Thursday, June 29 at 9/8c) is looking like the summer’s must-see — especially since on Tuesday the full list of competitors was released. The celebrities we’re most psyched to see throwing down in events like the kayak relay race and dunk tank:

Jeanne Crain: Lighthearted movies vs. real life tragedies (photo: Madeleine Carroll and Jeanne Crain in ‘The Fan’) (See also: "Jeanne Crain: From ‘Pinky’ Inanity to ‘Margie’ Magic.") Unlike her characters in Margie, Home in Indiana, State Fair, Centennial Summer, The Fan, and Cheaper by the Dozen (and its sequel, Belles on Their Toes), or even in the more complex A Letter to Three Wives and People Will Talk, Jeanne Crain didn’t find a romantic Happy Ending in real life. In the mid-’50s, Crain accused her husband, former minor actor Paul Brooks aka Paul Brinkman, of infidelity, of living off her earnings, and of brutally beating her. The couple reportedly were never divorced because of their Catholic faith. (And at least in the ’60s, unlike the humanistic, progressive-thinking Margie, Crain was a “conservative” Republican who supported Richard Nixon.) In the early ’90s, she lost two of her...

As with all lists, this is personal and nobody will agree with every choice – and if you do, that would be incredibly disturbing. It was almost impossible for me to rank them in order, but I tried and eventually gave up.

Tarantino’s Django Unchained Loads Up
A few more people are getting ready to saddle up for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained as three new additions are added to the seemingly ever-growing roster of big names.
James Remar (Dexter), Tom Wopat (Jonah Hex), James Russo (Public Enemies) and Todd Allen (Friday Night Lights) are the latest people added to Tarantino’s homage to the spaghetti western that has former slave Django (Jamie Foxx) teaming up with a German bounty hunter (Christoph Walz) to rescue his wife from a cruel plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio).
According to Variety, Remar and Russo will play brothers Ace and Dicky Speck, two slave traders that buy Django at a slave auction. Wopat (remember Dukes of Hazzard?) is set to portray Marshall Gill Tatum, and Allen snags the role with the best name as plantation overseer Dollar Bill.
You can bet more casting news will be...

"I'd hate to die young and never have made Grapes of Wrath. Life goes by so fast...I just don't want to miss out on anything." Jon-Erik Hexum Jon-Erik Hexum (he was advised to drop the 'C' in favour of a 'K' as it looked much stronger,) and used to go by the name of Jack; was born November 5 1957 in Englewood, New Jersey. He was 6' 1", and of Norweigan/Icelandic descent. His parents Gretha and Thorleif Hexum separated when he was 5. He had an older brother, Gunnar. The two were raised by their mother, who held down two jobs. Though they couldn't afford to, his mother also bought him a piano. As a child, Jon-Erik took violin, singing and dancing lessons, also playing the baritone horn and was very eager to play Flight of the Bumble Bee after only one lesson on the piano. His interests included writing, cinema, football,...

This past month on the Bioware gaming forums it was no surprise to find gay and bisexual gamers abuzz with personal accounts of Dragon Age: Origin's exploration of sexual equality. For those not familiar with the hugely popular video game, in Dragon Age you can play as a man or a woman, and can choose to be gay, straight or bisexual.
For just one example of how that looks, check out the romantic tryst players can have with the character of Zevran as revealed on Gaygamer.net. (Warning: Nsfw.)
This kind of choice and inclusion marked a new benchmark for gay male equality in video games. And while this is wonderful news, not all the news from BioWare this week is as positive. First, the company deleted threads on their community forums that contained a discussion about gay sexuality in Dragon Age. Then the company issued an illogical explanation as...
