John Elway rides out on top winning back to back Super Bowls!
blanbrn3 February 2008
In what would be his last NFL game legendary John Elway would go out on top as a back to back Super Bowl champion! As his Denver Broncos defeated the NFC champion Atlanta Falcons 34-19 in "Super Bowl XXXIII". Once again Denver rode the fresh and workhorse legs of Terrell Davis running the ball thru the AFC to another Super Bowl and it was only fitting that John Elway would shine in the big game against his former coach Dan Reeves. The game would start with Atlanta running back Jamal Anderson carrying the Falcons on the opening drive to a 3-0 lead, after all the Falcons had made the surprise trip after an NFC championship upset of Minnesota. Then the Broncos would start to roll with NFL MVP Terrell Davis and the razor sharp passing of John Elway for a 7-3 first quarter lead. Denver would continue to make big plays with Elway throwing an 80 yard TD pass to Rod Smith as the halftime lead was 17-6. The second half would kill the Falcons as they would end up with at least four turnovers, and for the 8th playoff game Terrell Davis had rushed for over 100 yards. And game MVP and the classy legend himself John Elway went out on top throwing for 336 yards as it would take him 16 years on a great team to win back to back titles. John Elway would ride out on top!
