Cure for brain tumour!!

Krishan Avtaar review :

Krishan Avatar, a musical actioner, was Mithun Chakraborty's home production. Unlike Boxer (1984) where he lost money, this one was a profit earner for him mainly from the cow belt. The film was just about average in Mumbai lasting a couple of weeks in most cinemas including Alankar at Grant Road. I had seen it at Kohinoor, Dadar on a weekday. Being a Mithun fan, I obviously liked it. So did most of the audience at the cinema who were presumably from the states where Mithun enjoys God status.

Prabhuji Mithun was called Krishan Kumar while Afgan actor Hashmat Khan was cast as Avtaar. Both were cops on trail of corrupt politician Tinnu Anand and don Paresh Rawal. Mithun da played single father to a girl child who gets to know one day that he is suffering from brain tumour. That makes him risk his life fighting enemies (This premise was again adapted in Govinda- Shilpa Shetty starrer Gambler (1995)). Eventually, he is shot in his brain which takes the tumour away with it (lol). With such unintentional comedy, the film became a target of many memes on social media later.

Mithun da was his usual best rising above the innanity. Though Somy Ali looked tad younger than Mithun, they made a good pair together and worked again in Yaar Gaddar (1994) and Teesra Kaun (1994).

A couple of Nadeem Shravan's numbers were worth a listen particularly "Mera Mehboob mujhse aise mila. Jaisa chanda se chandni milti hai". I also recollect there was a sensuous song picturised on Somy Ali where "Aaoooo" Shakti Kapoor was pawing her all over. Yikes!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
