The plot goes:
Kim arrives at CTU, with her always amazing timing, and learns that her father is still alive. Meanwhile at the White House, the Vice President shows up with some suggestions on the crisis, while the first lady deals with with the whole situation with her husband. Oh, and nobody knows that in the meantime a terrorist has infiltrated CTU and plans to release nerve gas into the building's ventilation system. (Also killing Carrie in the process; she had just 2 ahort appearances in the season, got fired for no reason in her first one and now killed in her second one, the poor thing hah.)
Review:
A smashing episode, and for me this is one of the best (maybe the best) hours during the show's 8 year run, mainly because it just feels different than pretty much any other "24" episode. It's an episode that mixes emotion with tremendous suspense, and the result is outstanding. Also, everything from writing to producing, directing and acting is of top-quality, and the script has much composure with its great dialogues. The wonderful suspense building up as the hour progresses really delivers at the end with an amazing and dramatic climax. resulting in the death of Edgar (who had suspiciously become a more likable character in season 5), in front of Chloe's eyes. This episode also has the reunion of Kim and her father, and it is just handled amazingly, Kim's reaction is perfect, the scene is very realistic and both actors do an excellent job here. In-between things, there's a great first appearance from the Vice President, and even the scenes with Martha Logan are very good. An all-round outstanding episode.
