I've had a bit of a 7th Heaven break. I could see the quality dipping a bit in the last few episodes of S6 (of 11 series!) and entering back into it now that is clear to see.
Lucy has become a brat. A boy obsessed, rather self centred, brat. Now I know this isn't uncommon in teenagers, but boy do the writers go to town on making her unlikable.
The whole plot with the ring doesn't make much sense either - why so much fuss when you're already secretly married?! It's like the characters have forgotten that themselves, such is the subterfuge they are pulling.
There are some nice moments, this show always seems to wrap even the most stodgy of episodes well to make you come away thinking you've had a nice 45 mins watching experience, but things had gotten a bit thin by this point.
The only real winner here is Jessica Biel, who is assured in her performance, and working wonders with mixed material.
