This was meant to air fifth in the series, but was bumped up when the BBC changed the order of the episodes at last notice. The majority of filming was done in Morocco within three days. The cast and crew stayed in what was referred to as "the worst hotel north of the equator!" The rest was filmed in a sound studio in Britain.
The Moroccan houseboy is named "Yentob". This is an in-joke, as back in 1994, Alan Yentob was the director of BBC1, the network on which Absolutely Fabulous (1992) aired.
In the flashback, Patsy is playing guitar, dressed in the famous Sgt. Pepper's uniform which The Beatles wore in 1967.
The name "Yentob" and the set for the villa was previously used in a 1991 Christmas special of the sitcom, Birds of a Feather, which also aired on the BBC.
The character Humphrey is a reference to Casablanca's lead character, played by Humphrey Bogart. Casablanca takes place in Morocco.
