- Synopsis - The Unknown People Part 2 A review of the events where Part 1 left off covers our intrepid reporters visiting Silsby for coverage of the deepest oil well ever drilled, encountered unique occurrences to say the least. Beings coming from underground, spooky looking, and not welcomed by the locals, took a turn for the worse as the story moved to its surprising conclusion. The unknown people were just curious to visit the land above their domain, but were to be met with harsh circumstances, but retaliate they did, without Superman's intervention, things could have been much worse. Superman interrupts Luke, Chuck and Eddie's hunt of the unknown people as Luke fires his pistol at Superman, slugging Luke, Chuck Weber shoots one unknown from top of the dam, it falling off where Superman was able to catch him before hitting the ground while Matt is shown holding back Luke's leashed dogs. They chase the other unknown being with the dogs into a tool shed, setting it on fire, intending to kill it. The defenseless being narrowly escapes from the fire, seeking refuge in the well while Superman brought the wounded one to the Silsby hospital. The four hoodlums did not wait for the fire to go out, they left for town with the leashed dogs. Luke comes into the Sheriff's office bragging both the critters are dead and the Sheriff says he is wrong because Superman brought one to the hospital. Sherriff tries to stop Luke but he pulls his gun on the men including the Sheriff, Deputy Jim, Corrigan and Craig. The hospital supervisor demands the wounded unknown stranger be gone by morning despite needing medical attention and the nurse refuses to assist, but Clark volunteers to help the doctor during the operation to remove the bullet. Luke Benson stirs up the mob mentioning the wounded one is in the hospital and they plan on doing away with it. Lois encounters Clark in his hospital uniform, but Clark intervenes explaining the bullet was removed by the doctor as he assisted. Lois shows nothing but contempt toward Clark as he tries to right wrongs and rid the environment of unwanted characters, such as Luke Benson. Clark leaves to change as the lynch mob comes to the hospital entrance when Superman appears in order to prevent any more harm coming to the unknown patient. Superman confronts the mob after Corrigan is pistol whipped, Miss Lane is accosted, while Luke fires shots point blank at the Man of Steel. Lois, Craig and injured Corrigan are escorted inside as Superman relieves the angry mob of their weapons. Three unknown people come out of the well with a weapon and move toward the hospital to rescue their friend. They encounter Superman, they point the weapon at him but gesticulate he was the one rescuing their companion, while Superman asks they wait, he goes into the hospital, gets their healing friend. Benson is told the three are at the hospital, he grabs Chuck's shotgun and moves toward it through the alley. Luke cocks the shotgun, the unknowns turn and begin shooting Luke with their weapon as Superman comes out of the hospital with their friend in his arms. Superman hands over the patient to an unknown and stands in the line of fire of their weapon and Luke Benson. They continue firing for a while when they see it causes no harmful effect to Superman and he motions for them to depart. He tells Luke Benson that was more than he deserved, to be saved the effect of their weapon upon him. He carries the wounded patient until they reach the well, then he hands the injured to the others as they descend. Lane, Corrigan and Craig drive up to the well site as Superman closes the lid to the well. Corrigan acknowledges the harmless phosphorescence confirmed, as Kent had guessed it was. There is a beam coming from the well destroying the casing and setting the derrick on fire. Corrigan accounts for the obvious as they all watch the fire where no one can ever get to them again. Lois chirps about the creatures saying you live in your world and we will do the same.
