In his closing monologue, Hitchcock refers to 'Mr Melton' dropping his interference with Sylvia Leeds' life, and vice versa, but there is no character named Melton in the story, unless it is her psychiatrist whose surname is not mentioned but who is listed in the credits as Dr Jason. Judging by the monologue however, it is more likely that 'Melton' may have been the originally scripted name for the Leeds.
