Starting in this episode and continuing until the end of season 8, the courthouse interior is no longer painted shades of green. It is now painted shades of brown.
David Alan Bailey, who plays 'Fred Simpson' in this episode, also played 'Trey Bowden.' First in "Andy and Opie's Pal" (season 4, episode 14) where he and Opie Taylor (Ron Howard) became blood brothers.
Andy tells Aunt Bee that Opie has been "sweet on Mary Alice since the first grade." However, Opie's longtime girlfriend throughout the series was played by Ronda Jeter and known variously as Karen Burgess, Sharon McCall or Sharon Porter. Mary Alice Carter was only mentioned in this single 1967 episode.
Although he doesn't appear here, this is the first reference to Emmett Clark and his fix-it shop. He will appear in the next episode, "Howard, the Bowler." Emmett will be Floyd's de facto replacement for the rest of the series.
