When Michael (Jason Bateman) looks at Nellie (Justine Bateman)'s profile on the computer, a close look shows it actually reads "ConSLUTant".
This is the only episode in which George-Michael is bleeped. However, it's not for swearing. It's for mentioning Veronica Mars (2004). A little over a month after this episode aired, Michael Cera, who plays George Michael, along with Alia Shawkat, who plays Maeby, guest starred in an episode of Veronica Mars.
Jason Bateman's sister Justine Bateman guest-stars on this episode titled "Family Ties" (1982), a reference to Justine's popular 1980s sitcom as well as to her relation to Arrested Development (2003) star Jason Bateman. Jason had long lobbied producer Mitchell Hurwitz to cast Justine in a guest role on the show, but Jason had originally wanted her to come on to play his character's love interest.
The cancellation of the show is again referred to in the song played during the ending credits. It's based upon Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing", the words "wake up, wake up, wake up" being replaced with "watch us, watch us, watch us".
One of the computers an employee is holding when Michael (Jason Bateman) first arrives at the office is in fact a toaster oven.
