It's the silly old moo. Dandy Nichols is Mrs Honeyman with Phil Davis as her son Eric. Both were fired by Charlie Hungerford without a reference.
With difficulties getting a job in the mainland, they return to Jersey to steal some valuables from Hungerford but end up taking Bergerac's daughter on a boat ride. When the boat breaks down, they decide to demand a ransom from Hungerford.
Someone else decides to take further advantage of the situation.
It is clear early on that both Eric and his mother are bitter but incompetent. Hence why another side plot was inserted.
There is also conflict between Bergerac, his ex wife and Charlie. Those two do not want Bergerac to know there is a ransom demand but he is more clever.
The start of the second series, the opening titles have been souped up to make Jersey look a little more glamorous. Celia Imrie joins the cast and Terence Alexander has been promoted a little in the title scenes.
I did think that the story lacked energy for an opening episode.
