The quotation that Jim Bergerac makes at the end about "the blushful Hippocrene, with beaded bubbles winking at the brim, and purple-stained mouth" is from John Keats' poem Ode to a Nightingale. Hippocrene was a fountain on Mount Helicon that was supposed to inspire poetry in those that drank from it, but from the context, Jim is more probably referring to wine.
