- Bronco has been requested to transport a prisoner to Santa Fe for trial for robbery and murder while a decoy goes on the stage. He loses sealed instructions for an emergency which occurs when a victim's relatives attack them.
- Bronco arrives in a town but finds everyone at the hotel already knows who he is and why he is there. Bronco is hired by Marshal Pete Kilgore to escort killer Walter Rurick to trial at Santa Fe, as the marshal rides with a decoy on the stage. Rurick killed the stage driver, shotgun, and a lone female passenger plus he stole $100,000 in gold which has not been found. Since everyone is aware of Bronco, they decide he should leave immediately. Kilgore provides Bronco with directions and sealed instructions to open only in case of trouble. During a rest stop the next morning, bronco accidentally drops the sealed envelope. On the way, Bronco and Rurick are stopped by the family of the woman Rurick killed, but an Army troop stops them from taking justice into their own hands. They say they are there to escort Rurick but Bronco decides he should stay with Rurick all the way to Santa Fe. However, Bronco soon learns things are not at all as they seem to be when the troop stops short of a water hole.—rbecker28
