Nicholas Brendon claims this as one of his favorites, and found it hard not to laugh while filming the seduction scenes.
When casting the love spell for Xander, Amy asks the goddess Diana to make Cordelia submit to his will. In Roman mythology, Diana (or her Greek counterpart, Artemis) is the goddess of the hunt, the moon, and parts of nature, but not love. The goddess of love would be Venus (Aphrodite). Furthermore, Diana is sworn to be a maiden forever and followers of her also swear off men.
In the beginning, Harmony taunts Cordelia by asking when she and Xander are going to start wearing matching outfits so she can puke. At the end, Cordelia and Xander are in color-coordinated outfits.
An X-Men 2099 poster is seen on the wall next to Xander's bed above his nightstand. Joss Whedon is an avid X-Men fan, citing Kitty Pryde as inspiration for the Buffy character. He also wrote a 24-issue run for Astonishing X-Men in 2008.
The song which Dingoes Ate My Baby played, "Pain", can also be heard performed in Buffy's house in Dead Man's Party (1998).
