An earring, vault of silver in the desert outside of Las Vegas, adhesive tape residue, and an unidentified fingerprint all pertain to the supposed heroin overdose of a Casino mogul's son. The victim had cut his brother out of and included a bimbo girlfriend in a will, not to mention, a construction worker pal who the police found digging in the desert to find the silver vault. The friend and victim's girlfriend are actually having an affair, uncovered by police and Grissom's CSI team. The construction worker also has a disgruntled wife who forces him to choose between her and his dead friend's fiancé. So motives abound with several people having reasons for killing the victim, so it'll be up to the evidence to determine innocence and guilt.

Rather Forgettable for an Opening Episode

Eventually, the gang is going to get pulled in to look at some Las Vegas bad actors. A mob boss is found dead of an apparent overdose. We know that isn't going to be the cause. All it takes is a look on Grissom's face to tell us that. What is intriguing about this episode is a really bizarre cast of characters, each with his or her own agenda. We are shown the silliness of the existence of people with huge amounts of money. Power trumps everything with these guys and their frivolous use of it is at the center of their lives.

The Overdose

When the son of the wealthy casino owner Sam Braun. Tony, is found by his gardener dead at home, Grissom and his team investigate the case. Although having the evidences of drug overdose, the CSI believe he was murdered since he had been addicted for a long time and knew how to use drugs. Catherine meets Sam Braun to collect more information while Grissom discusses the case with the coroner and his team.

"Burked" is a reasonable episode of "CSI". The discovery of the killers after the investigation of many suspects satisfies the audience, but this episode is weak for opening the second season. My vote is seven.
