When the plane passes over the kids in the car, it passes so close to the ground that the kids duck down in freight. As it goes over you can see the bottom of the plane and can tell the landing gear is not down. Seconds later the plane hits and the kids turn and go to see. When the plane is shown in the after crash shot, the landing gear is down, even though there was no time to lower the landing gear between the plane passing over the car and hitting the road.
The episode opens up with a circling two-engine Cessna air craft. After the plane crashes it is a single-engined Beechcraft.
The registration number of the crashed plane is N017766, which can be clearly seen painted on its side. All US registered aircraft are assigned numbers beginning with the letter N. However, by FAA rule, there can be a maximum of five numbers and/or letters following the N. And a zero is never the first character following the N. The zero in this case cannot be a misreading of the letter O, because the letters O and I are never used in N-numbers.
