With this show, a new animated opening sequence is introduced, with a caricature of Carol Burnett's charwoman character walking through the corridors of CBS Television City (and greeting the live-action series regulars), created by video animators Jenn de Joux and Elizabeth Savel. While there were modifications to the opening per season, the general look will remain in place for the rest of the show's run. In addition, a new logo for the series is unveiled, set in Souvenir Bold Italic with swishes.
With Lyle Waggoner having left the series at the end of the previous season, his other role as announcer is taken over effective with this show by Ernie Anderson, who will remain with the program to the end. While Anderson will make a few on-camera appearances this season as an occasional sketch performer, he will largely remain off-camera as general voiceover artist for the show.
With the departure of Lyle Waggoner from the series, Carol appeared to have "conveniently" lost all interest in kissing her co-stars at the end of the shows...
