You shouldn't play with Fire when the boss comes from Hell
owlaurence7 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
The episode is rather light-hearted. When the sisters keep bickering under a full-on hail of gunfire, you get the idea that the stakes won't be too high. Still, it introduces two novelties : first, Prue starts to astral project, which means she now has a passive power besides her active one. (This is rather unfair to poor Phoebe, who regularly gets cheated in the power department: her strangled squeak at being described as "negligible" doesn't even sound so indignant, as if she partially agreed.) Secondly, Darryl Morris discovers the truth about the sisters. Quite unexpectedly, where Andy's reaction had caused a lot of drama, Darryl does not give them a hard time about it at all. In fact, he sort of blanks out once the word "magic" is out, refusing to know more --an attitude he will be faithful to, despite the Charmed Ones' and Fate's best efforts to involve him in creepy situations.

The other interesting fact about that episode is that it reintroduces Barbas, the demon of Fear whom the sisters vanquished last year... and whom they will vanquish over and over again, until he becomes more a pest than a nemesis. Apparently it's not that easy to get rid of fear. And Billy Drago plays a deliciously sly Barbas.

As for the main plot, it is coherent with Prue's character: when faced with too much stress, her subconscious finds interesting (and mostly troublesome) ways of going elsewhere --and she is also quite attracted to bad boys (Marry Go Round). At least she's having fun, and her clear attraction to Bane Jessup will be the object of another episode. Granted, there are some weaknesses, mostly based on the fact that once again Prue leads the episode while her sisters fill in the blanks (some scenes with the overenthusiastic witch really feel like padding.) Still, I have to smile when I watch Prue and Piper investigate Ms. Hellfire's flat : Piper rushes straight to the kitchen while Prue delves into the wardrobe. I guess Phoebe would have studied the bed!

Took something from season one and made it better.

Warning: Spoilers
Morality Bites proved the show could take risks, but it's not one I prefer. I think it's a bit underwhelming, with the way it gets so ambitious and safe at the same one. This one however, exceeds all your expectations. The whole miss Hellfire storyline is great. It brought Barabas back, and redeemed how ill-handled his introduction in season 1 was. « Mrs. Hellfire » is an inventive episode, and was different from what Charmed usually did so far. Darryl finally becoming the sisters ally, and in on their secret, was very satisfying. Prue's new power, astral projection, is introduced and she's at her best all episode long. She has a new love interest, played Antonio Sabato Jr and great outfits throughout... There's also an improvement in the special effects era, which was kind of surprising compared to what the show used to offer in that department. And that little touch of humor we like, with the annoying wannabe witch Phoebe and Darryl saved. It's the kind of episode that showed how off to a good start season two was.

The One With Ms. Hellfire...
taylorkingston8 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. I love to see how Prue's powers advanced.

In this episode, it's Friday The 13th and the Halliwell sisters don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to that date. Not since they became witches, anyway. At the beginning of the episode, they are almost killed by a hit-woman. But Prue sent one of the woman's flying bullets, right back at her, so that didn't work out well for her. They find out that she knew they had powers and they also find out that nine out of the thirteen witches on her hit list, have been killed since midnight. Thirteen dead witches before midnight on Friday The 13th, ring any bells? Yes that's right, Barbas is back. The sisters must tell Darryl their secret so he can help them hid the woman's body. Prue and Piper go to the hit- woman's apartment and then some thugs come looking for the woman, named Ms. Hellfire. They thought Prue was her, so Prue pretended to be her, to find out who is working with Barbas. In the end, Barbas finds out that Prue is impersonating Ms. Hellfire and he tries to control her into killing Piper and Phoebe. Obviously, Piper and Phoebe were able to convince her not to kill them. In the end, Barbas didn't make his quota and was sent back to the vanquished-demon world. Also, Prue got a new power, astral projection. If she can move things with her mind, why not her body.

Fun Fact: This episode was aired on the 13th of January, but a Thursday, not a Friday, but that's still pretty good.

Overall, I give this episode a 9 out of 10.

Omg!!!! Hottest episode ever! (L)
Skandalvik29 October 2021
Shannen Doherty is so freaking hooooot in this episode! Everyone who looks for hot. I don't like how Prue keeps going for Jack Sheridan when the hottie Bane Jessup is there all for her love, and MORE! He's very dangerous, but a hottie, I'll give them that!

I've always found Phoebe to be the hottest one out of the three, but in this episode, Prue (Shannen Doherty) really shows she can be sexy. She takes control, shoots with a pistol, gets her new power, I mean how cool is that!

I like how dominating Prue can be, at times. Really sexy. ;)

Hehe ;)

Bad Witches are Easy
seneuser16 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a really entertaining episode, despite the tired plot thread of a protagonist being seduced by evil and the lameness of Prue giving in to it so quickly.

First of all, Daryl is told the sisters' secret this episode. He doesn't accidentally discover it like Andy did. The sisters (Phoebe) just straight tells him, and he accepts it. In fact, his easy acceptance of it might strain belief, but it is welcome, glad to have that over with. I guess with everything he's seen so far, kind of like with Andy, it isn't that hard to believe anymore.

Secondly, Prue gets her astral projection power and uses it to her advantage for the first time. I don't quite buy her suggestion that having telekinesis makes it logical for her to do it since she isn't moving her physical form. The show is kind of fudging here since they already showed Rex using the more correct form of astral projection. Prue is not only projecting her astral self but is able to physically interact with the world at her projected location. That really isn't how this is supposed to work. (Notice how Rex only could interact in people's minds and no one could see him unless they were in the astral plane themselves, which is where you typically go when you dream.) Regardless, I know, it's magic, so they can technically have it work however they want to.

Last but foremost, Barbas is back. It is Friday the 13th once again, and he's cut a deal to escape from purgatory. He needs to have 13 witches killed by midnight, again, and he'll escape purgatory completely. This time around he goes the extra mile by recruiting a small time crime boss - Bane - to get the work done for him. Bane in turn hires a hit woman to do the killings - Ms. Hellfire. That is a lot of delegation for a demon to bother with. Buy, hey, whatever it takes to bring Barbas back is good with me. Billy Drago continues to ooze creepiness like no other demon and is still to this point the best bad guy the show has come up with.

When Ms. Hellfire is killed in the attempt on the sisters, Prue assumes her identity in the hopes of finding out who hired her and why. That leads her to Bane, who Prue immediately takes a liking to, not to mention the high-flying lifestyle that Ms. Hellfire seemed to bask in. Prue perhaps gets a little too into it, and though I get it that the darkside can be seductive and that Bane is an attractive guy, her grinding on and making out with a guy she just met is pretty lame.

In the end, Barbas convinces Prue to kill her sisters (delegation again), but Phoebe and Piper use Prue's new projection power to snap her out of it. They don't have to vanquish Barbas as midnight does it for them.

Entertaining episode with some big things happening in it.

The Return of Barbas, the Demon of Fear
claudio_carvalho11 February 2007
A hit-woman tries to kill the Halliwell sisters on Friday, 13th, shooting their house but she dies when Prue protects herself and her sisters from the bullets. They find that she was Ms. Hellfire, and Prue goes undercover to investigate why a mortal woman wished to kill them. Prue discloses that she was hired by the gangster Bane Jessup, who associated to the Demon of Fear Barbas, to kill the Halliwell sisters and other witches before midnight.

In "Ms. Hellfire", Barbas returns but is again vanquished by the Halliwell sisters. Prue develops the ability of astral projection and the sisters disclose to Darryl Morris that they are good witches. I do not know how Prue was able to get the fortune of Ms. Hellfire to Buckland's Auction House. The silly Marcie Stedwell is annoying, and this episode is very weak. My vote is five.

Warning: Spoilers
Ms. Hellfire deals with Bar as hiring assassins to destroy the Charmed ones and ten other witches before midnight. Prue has to sell her while inventory 31st work with her partner Jack and has developed astral projection. I'm glad Baras is back since he's my favorite demon scary, giving out bad puns and trying to stay on the mortal plane. It was clever to hire hit men since he failed last time yet I found hi a expertise in finding a killer for hire are terrible since she doesn't last three minutes with the witches. Another flaw in his plan is one of the women only thinks of herself as a wiccian would it still count of do they need to have to have a family tree dating to Salem is left in The air.

Besides the flaws I found Prue feeling stressed lately needing to be in more then one place as true to character, even though she should be able to levitate not astral project, yet it works to show how torn and over worked she is. When some excitement comes her way to go undercover as Hellfire she jumps right into it without a second thought.
